That is such a touching moment when those two look at each other with the Lethal Weapon music playing. All the shit they went through together in all four of those movies. This was a great thing for the director to add into this film.

True, although Maverick was released in 1994 between Lethal Weapons 3 and 4, which were released in 1992 and 1998, respectively.
So at that point, it was really only 3 movies' worth of shit. :-)
