Boy, does this bring back memories of signing off KVMA-AM in Magnolia, Arkansas in the 1980's. I was hoping you had the sound on the tape of what it sounded like when the transmitter went down and you picked up all that static.
They left the xmttr on with that crackly dead-air, so I just ended the tape.. On the WWEL sign-off, they shut off right after their last tape finished.

Nowadays, they're on 24/7/365, and broadcast mostly religious programming in Spanish & Portuguese.
