im lookin at gettin a krankenstein or the kerry king marshall, my main thing is most of the clips of krank i have heard sound kinda generic i was just wondering just how versatile this amp is and what other amps would you compare it to man?
Great Sound man! Man I was really disappointed with the stock Krank Rev. distortion it's terrible. Its probably a great amp to run a distortion pedal through though. I play metal so I'd hook up a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone to that baby. Bet that would sound wicked.
lol... then you must have 0 idea of what the hell you're doing. because rev1 stock is pure metal. if you need as much gain as an mt-2, consider facing the fact that maybe you just suck?
Look, I'm just giving my personal opinion but I don't think you've seriously tried a Krank out.....sorry but if you play true metal and have tried out Krank in person, stock distortion blows chunks. Most bands that use Kranks have distortion going through them from either rack mount effects or pedals....trust me theres no way Krank gave Dimebag his sound without any pedal or rack mount of any kind.
Besides, what does using a Metal Zone have anything to do with skill? It's a pedal that gives a great sound to its preferred user....please don't bullshit me because I use one, In fact, to anyone that has crappy stock amp distortion (Like Krank)I HIGHLY recommend getting a Metal Zone its got its own EQ and gives out amazing distortion at your control. Plus its really affordable. Some people don't have the money to go out and spend $1300 on a head.
Plus the distortion is going through a Keeley SD-1. WOW! Can't believe you think Krank distortion is awesome. Please read the info about the video next time and maybe you won't look like such a dumb ass. Go and troll some other response page.
I still wouldn't stick a metalzone in front of the krank, the sd-1 is just an overdrive pedal that's used as a boost. It adds a little gain, but is more for shaping the signal and tone.
Idk I've tried out both the Krankenstein and the Rev1 and I wasn't happy with either one of the tones nor the amount of distortion it gave out. I honestly do not know if just by some freak coincidence both the amps had been blown or the speakers had been blown at the music store (which I highly doubt) or what. My Peavey 5150 stock amp distortion sounds 10x better than the Kranks. But like I said my personal opinion.
haha I like 5150 distortion more than krank too. At least the 5150 can sound a little less saturated and do low gain stuff. Kranks are always just..fizz. they have similar voicings..but I dunno. 5150 \m/.
