Caught Blue Sparks whenever I could at the Stanhope House in the 80s and 90s. Thanks to MiyaMakesMovies for posting this clip. Yup a great band. Sorry johnrulig - only have tapes (and an LP) of their stuff.
Stanhope house, Freddy's in Bernardsville What freaking great bar band. Didn't know about Tucker. RIP...What a showman he was. I remember him dancing across tables at Freddys. Long Valley Beer Fest!!!!! What a great band, memories
Ah...GREAT times... first saw them in Columbia, SC in the late 80's then I moved to Long Valley in the early 90's - Tucker's and my dog had an intense romance - I'm sad to know that I won't be catching another performance or talkin' critters with him again. RIP, my friend.
29 years ago, huh? Then you must remember the great sets at the Independence Inn in Hackettstown Thrusday nights in '76. Great shows. I'm Gonna Dance Til I Don't Care Anymore, Grey Hound! Brother Beware! great stuff!
Saw them just a couple weekends ago at a Califon benifit gig and they are still the best party band ever! Tucker was great, although no drum kit leaping or banjo playin, must be getting too old for banjo playin lol. I liked watching the expressions and reactions of the young dudes in the crowd who obviously hadn't seen the band before go from "what the hell is this?" to "unbelievable!" especially when Buck tore it up on guitar. Total shock and awe. Erasin my head with the Sparks for 29 yrs.
Wow...just listening to BSFH on an old '45 while transfering vinyl onto CD's .This is exactly what I was listening to! I'm wondering if I know bibble56 I was at all the same places seeing these guys. The Rescue squad was a regular spot for these guys in the 80's...hot sun, kegs of beer and loyal fans! Good times. The Stanhope house...on icey snowy nights...nothing stopped us!Celebrating 28 years of marriage to my Long Valley man ...sure would be fun to see you guys somewhere.
i first saw the sparks at the pittstown inn long time ago, in pittstown nj. and again at millers tavern in annandale nj. the floor was a mess with spilled beer, but the joint was a rockin....followed by the stanhope house...with eddie on drums....buck and tim in sync on guitar, andy on bass, tucker....swinging from the window frame behind the band...and pasta for the band...barbara and i would kidnap eddie...and there was the long valley rescue squad benefit every year loved it all.xoxomaryann
Absolutely the greatest bar band in my life. I remember jumping off the bus, over the fence, and sneaking into the Stanhope House in the 80s. I've seen them in NJ, PA, NY, and GA. I even saw them at my 20th reunion...i wish there was better video!
Best to Tucker, Buck, Tim, and Andy! From the buy who booked you at the fraternity in Atlanta where the pool collapsed! You guys are part of my best memories!
My favorite band of them all. You have to hear my audio tape of a party taped 1987. Astounding. But this song and the audio is ... not the best glimpse of this peerless bar band.

I first saw the Blue Sparks from Hell at Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West in March, 1984 when there for spring break from East Carolina University.
I was later able to get The Attic to book BSFH to play, and they did so a couple times.
The only two bar bands I ever enjoyed as much were Skip Castro and Uptown Rhythm Kings.
