thebehtbeht - NOT so, my friend. down by the seaside and boogie with stu, bron-y-aur are WITHOUT QUESTION the same versions recorded earlier, as in fact my friend, by november 1973 when sessions started, robert plant was utterly unable to hit the notes of these earlier songs. For the record: Boogie with Stu, Down By the Seaside and Nightflight were all recorded in 1971. House of the Holy, the Rover, were recorded in 1972. Bron-Y-Aur was recorded in 1970.
I was in the room with them when they jammed this out. We all smoked a couple of jays and had some drinks. Then I sat as I watched and listened to them just fuckin jam! Okay, not really but wouldn't that be awesome?
Yes! caesarerf is right. Alot of takes with P.G. and other albums were were put into the can (REEL), but didn't come till yrs, ltr. some of P.G. were did in 1970,71,72 finished in 1974, but released in 1975. Zepp went at their own pace, and sometimes they would have problems with the cover of certain albums, politics, you know BS. Thats ZEPP #$%#%$% awesome!!! Remember song remains the same was filmed in 73. bron-y-aur was on it, P.G. didnt come out till 75. good enough. ;-{)
not really bluesy at all. have any of you heard blues? this sounds like james brown shit (in a good way). anyways, this version is loads better than the album version. who's with me?
I've got this track on the 11 CD set, "Antrabata Studio Sessions" and it states like Wanton Man says here, Headley Grange, nov. 73-may 74. I'ts titled ""funk/jazz rhythm exercise". What a lame name; it was probably named by someone lame, certainly not Jimmy Page. My guess is, he isn't to happy with this material being available, u see.
DUDE, yes, i remember having this song a couple of years ago, awesome...has kind of a low down sleazy feel to it, like a 50's strip club er sumthin, but i swear the drums in the song "one say as a lion" are heavily influenced by this song, the triplets and everything, maybe just a little less swing, but the bombastisity is there for sure
I once had (and now don't) a Page solo acoustic song-finished studio song-acoustic instrumental, layered, sounded like CACGCE tuning, very much like Bron-y-Aur with tons of arpeggios. Maybe 3 or 4 overdubs, with slow intro and then charging chords. Wonderful composition tltled "Finger Style", a Napster download. It sounded like a post-Zeppelin recording. Definitely JP.
No - I'm referring to a Japanese bootleg. These sessions have been floating around for 20 years now. Someone stole a bunch of open reel tapes and cassettes from Page's residence in the late 80s. That's when the bootleg market became flooded with demos, outtakes and all the stereo soundboard concerts you were getting off of Napster and are now getting off of Youtube.
But still, Tangible Vandalism is just like, Physical Graffiti from a Thesaurus. It means the same thing, they just called it that cause it was probably from the PG era.
DaGarebear was cracking a joke. The disc is a hodgepodge of outtakes from PG and other albums + live Heartbrkr, WLL, Ocean from a 73 show and a live Kashmir from a '75 show. Now instead of the jap boot labels doling it out one (partial) disc at a time , they're producing the same recycled tracks in box sets of 10,11,12,13 discs. Ouch. I paid *only* $35 for the (now obsolete) singleton. I need to win a lottery...
wanton man, thanks and i can clear this up for you. MUCH of physical graffiti was NOT recorded in 1973-74 but came from MUCH earlier. for example boogie with stu, down by the seaside and night flight were recorded in NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE! house of the holy was recorded in 1972 ... as was the rover. so much of the (best, too) music on Graffiti was recorded LONG before those sessions.
it's not something i'm making up, it's been known for thirty four years.
@caesarcerf But the versions of those songs that ended up on Physical Graffiti were NOT the ones from 1971 etc. They re-recorded those versions. The songs were WRITTEN earlier ,but re-recorded.
I just have to share this with you. A friend gave me this. This is a jam in the studio around the time they were recording Physical Graffiti I believe. Has a Hendrix groove to it. Way cool!
Im pretty sure this was recorded during the time they were making Physical Graffitti. "mg4150" has the same recording on his channel and it's labelled as Physical Grafitti Jam or something.

Does this have a name? Or is it a jam without a name?
I don't have all of their records so I haven't got much knowledge about their work thus I couldn't recognize this.
And thanks for uploading, it's great to hear new sounds of Led Zeppelin.

yes, i believe you
there's just alot of confusion on when THIS particular outtake was recorded.
but none-the-less, it's a shame it didn't find it's way onto an album like many other "forgotten" pieces.
TheWantonMan 3 years ago
@caesarcerf But the versions of those songs that ended up on Physical Graffiti were NOT the ones from 1971 etc. They re-recorded those versions. The songs were WRITTEN earlier ,but re-recorded.

my friend the outtakes rehearsal takes box set is WRONG. this is absolutely from 1972.
caesarcerf 3 years ago
well, the outtakes / rehearsals box set says one thing, you say this, & there's another video that says it's from the physical graffiti sessions.
but i'll take your word for it.
TheWantonMan 3 years ago
no this was recorded in 1972 at the time of houses of the holy (sessions).
houses of the holy should have come out almost SIX MONTHS earlier than it did ... problems with cover art.
caesarcerf 3 years ago
according to the outtakes / rehearsals box set, this is somewhere between Nov. 1973 & May 1974.
TheWantonMan 3 years ago
where from have you got that 'outtakes/rehearsals box set'? and what is it
?
