Has anyone suggested the scientific approach? A Neurofeedback specialist can analyze the problem by looking at the brain activity. If you have severe activity causing your thoughts to race this will cause severe anxiety. Neurofeedback can unlock the brain. My son has had 26 sessions and is feeling extremely better.

@opethforlife Anxiety disorders occur more frequently in women (not "females"), and some affect women twice as frequently. That fact is of interest to a women's group.
If most resources on anxiety treated it as a women's issue, I would understand why men with anxiety would feel alienated - they're no vast minority - but this ONE video is the only resource I've found (having anxiety myself) in the context of a presentation to a women's group - and it isn't unjustified. Perspective.
Ive had anxiety disorder for 16 years, from the age of 18 (male) ive had many medications and also C.B.T did nothing, and i cant see how it would work actually, as its not about how you think, its the psysical felling that comes first then the thoughts....
Yeah, I got a huge fear of flying things like bees, wasps, yellowjackets and anything that buzzes.
I may have PTSD since I was in a car accident in 2003 and I get so freaking scared when I'm in a passenger seat-and I'm not driving the car. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I go way over board when they come to a stop sign or a stop light-I try to push myself away from the dashboard. I hate being a passenger in a car.
get cognitive behaviour therapy treatment and ask at your local university or hospital to get adresses also there is medication out there like ssri which are new and relaxants.
I am on an SSRI already! Does not work real good. I need a benozodiphine or how ever it is spelled.
I know about CBT. I read up on it already. My b/f is in practicum already and will be done with his masters in Psychology, so I know about all this stuff.
SSRI are not strong at all. I'm going to ask to be put on Klonopin.
@sandbar3000 I pray that you stay on SSRI and NOT ask for Klonopin. SSRI works slowly but slowly. From experience, the lowest dose SSRI taken consistently for long period (years) is the best. Remember your depression took years to develop. Try to get about 30 minutes of light exercise (Objective: At least stretch every joint.) After about six months on SSRI start slowly on CBT. From my experience (social work), SSRI's good but slow; also for anxiety, Restless Leg Syndrome, Sleep Disorders, etc
@gopalannarayanan, the SSRI is building up in my body and I'm resistant to it. This is why I'm on 150 or 200 mg per day now. I only take the Xanax stuff one week b4 my period - and I only took that for 2 days - not even an entire week. I'm looking into other types of therapy as well, not just drugs.
an hour in the gym 3 times a week will benefit you more then any one of these drugs thats a fact i used to take fluxetine which was also affective so combine the 2 and your on to a winning formula
You know, exercise would probably help what they are talking about...I have GAD and I was diagnosed with that back in 2003. I know that I feel so good after-due to those endorphins...I do not know if exericse will take away my GAD though.
go to ur gym sign up and do 45 min of low intensity or high intensity exercise when ur finished av a shower and something healthy to eat and note how you feel i gaurentee you will be on a natural high for the rest of the evening you will also sleep better too!!
I was always anxious, but wasn't diagnosed until age 34 (8 years). Immediately after taking lexapro, my life became enjoyable for the first time. I use to exercise everyday, and I couldn't sleep. I appeared to be a successful person, however, I was anxiety ridden 2 hrs a day. If you don't live it, you don't understand.
she sounds like all she says is based on her depth of knowledge its all correct stuff i have checked on it with the doctors at the priory hosp london.
if you had diabetes, you wouldn't think of skipping meds, so why is it, that people still think it is a weakness to take meds.
I was 34 before I began taking lexapro, and my life became enjoyable afterwards. I was successful in managing a full-time career, and raising 2 children on my own. I could handle anything that was given to me, but I could never relax. I have always exercised, and I eat very healhty. Chemical imbalances are real.
mine is so complex that i just can't classify it as this and that type and there is no proven cure - only treatment ? say what type of anxiety would you say i have ... ...
I got anxiety disorders from being injected with an ANTI ANXIETY drug called Midazolam/Versed. Why they did this when I wasn't anxious in the first place is a mystery to me. Now I have to live with PTSD. Thanks Doctors, nurses, CRNA's and all the rest of you people who play with people's brains for your own gratification.
@crystallmw Very true Anxiety meds are Not good they don't even know how they work and thats printed on the warning label screw the meds i can do this on my own with out them.
@swastedcat Good that your pills work. For me valium worked very good on my depression and anxiety, but the doctor is very reluctant to give me the medicine.
I can get addicted to it. Duh, i dont care as long as i get well from the D&A im happy.
one day in school my teacher asked me to help search up music on youtube for presentations. i had so much anxiety cuz i was like 2 inches away from the computer and everyone was lookin at the vids. fuck tht sucked
I think if it's not anything mainstream or exciting to a lot of people, then they don't care and they let you post it. But if its a hollywood thing, or something popular then they take it down. That's what it seems like anyway.
i am now taking imipramine for my anxiety and i hope it helps. I really need something to rely on cause it is already causing me social and health problem. My blood pressure has evaluated.
Personally, I hate the physical symptoms that come with my anxiety, they make me so paranoid. My doctor referred me to a councillor, and it looks to me like hypochondriasis, it's awful.
Medications are NOT proven safe and yet doctors continue to prescribe them. This is all a bunch of outdated science. Psychiatry still has a very, very long way to go.
I already watched all of them. Im really dizzy and cant breath, and confused. I get a feeling like somethin bad is going to happen, but not as much now as the dizziness n confusion. I took a pill called seroquel which is what i think mixed up the chemicals in my brain, after it wore off this started happening, its been happening for 3 months since. I dont want to take the 1mg Ativan because I heard it will make it worse in the long run but I don't want it to get worse either. What should I do?

what exactly does it mean when they describe anxiety as : a relatively permanent state of worry and nervouness?
Does anyone know?
pokerliciousmk 2 years ago 2
well anxiety means fear so obviously its related to worry or nervousness as well as intimidation.
