  • Haha the Beauchemin trade was bad, but as a Duck fan I can always laugh at the Kessel trade more!

  • Something must have happened to Burke because when he was in Anaheim the guy could not draft to save his life. Glad to see he trusts his scouts in Toronto

  • Comment removed

  • As a Leafs fan I have to say it was a trade Boston completely won. I wouldn't trade Hamilton for Kessel straight up let alone add in Seguin and Knight. Hamilton is the next Pronger. Still not as bad as the Rask trade though.

Boston fleeced us plain and simple.

  • @AftComet

big time fleecing but Lupul, gardiner for blowchemin is a fleecing too

  • @Znbnm2012 Oh definitely. Anyway I love Phil Kessel. Also the Kaberle trade more than made up for it. Tyler Biggs + Joe Colborne is awesome. Kaberle was horrible for Boston and actually hurt them more than he helped them.

Rask also isn't so hot. He had one excellent season but has been quite mediocre since.

  • I was pissed when we traded kessel but I always knew seguin would be a star ever since he was drafted. Now I'm so happy, he's had a heat year just look at last nights game.

  • Bozak, Gustavsson and Hanson suck, BTW Hanson is not with the leafs anymore, Burke is brainless

  • hahahhahahah leafs suck

  • terrible trade. burke has done nothing in toronto.. this trade is stupid. he hung onto kaberle for far too long, all the while he was losing value. the only good thing he's done is get rid of stajan

  • @slickalaus12 right.... ok bud adding Kessel, Phaneuf, Liles, Franson, Lombardi, Conolly, Lupul, and getting rid of useless players like Mayers, Stajan, Hagman, Toskala, is doing nothing?? Kaberle was only ever worth a mid- late first round pick, they got Colborne who is a good looking prospect and an additional second round pick, seems like a good trade to me.

  • LOL a video about the Kessel trade is guaranteed to have Bruins-Leafs arguments.

  • The Leafs finally have a young core of players, Kessel,Schenn,Aulie,Franson,Gunnarsson,Kulemin,Kadri,Reimer etc with tons of prospects with talent and potential that wasn`t there when jfj was in charge, guys like Colborne,Gardiner,Percy,Biggs,Frattin,Blacker and so on, future is bright in Leaf land, Burke has 100% overhauled this team since 08, only guys remaining are Schenn,Kulemin and Grabo from that team, Burke is trending them in the right direction.

  • regardless of weather or not Seguin becomes better than Kessel(I think he will as Kessel is one dimentional) I think T.O lost the trade because Dougie Hamilton fell to them at 9 aswell.

  • he watched the jizz????

  • the leafs are taking so long to rebuild simply because of the arrogance of burke. he disgusts me.

  • I don't think he would do it again, but Seguin isn't that great either. the 2010 draft wasn't very deep at all.

  • @furball411 have to disagree. theres taylor hall, jeff skinner, ryan johansen was very good at the wjc and gudbranson looks like a force on d. did the leafs give up too much? probably, but to get a goal scorer like kessel you have to give up something. and back to the 2010 dtaft, did you see greg mckegg? top 5 in ohl for scoring, thitd round pick of the leafs and josh nicholls had 85+ points with the saskatoon blades, and he was the leafs seventh round pick! time will only tell.....

  • i love how burke doesnt give a fuck.

  • @Nashtak kessel got 29 points in 70 games-seguin has 22 points, on pace for 75 games. No GM in the league wanted to give the leafs that much for kaberle at that time, hence why he didn't get traded. Kaberle is past his prime, and that was a great trade for the leafs.

  • Really people......seguin is on pace for 24 POINTS with the BRUINS!! Kessels on pace for 60 POINTS with the LEAFS!!!!(plus the 55 he had last year)!!! If you want to talk about shitty trades then let's talk about the kaberle trade.he has like 1 goal with the bruins??thanks for Joe colborne and the 1st rounder Boston!!!

  • @OptimusReim34 Really? Any idiots can question a trade after they have seen the results, but you somehow manage to affirm a player with an average of 57 points per season since he joined the team was well worth the 2 first rounders and a second. Why? Because a 19 years old ROOKIE hasn't scored as many points in his first fucking season. He ain't doing much worst than Kessel was on his rookie season, games played considered. Not to mention the difference between the Bruins and Leafs is GA, not GF

  • @OptimusReim34 But nice attempt at making the Kaberle trade sound like a ripoff for the leafs based on 20 games with a new team for the first in his career. I'll remind you the Leafs wanted to no less than 2 drafts picks, including a first, and a top rookie for Kaberle, no more than 2 seasons ago. The bruins got him at a slight discount.

  • @Nashtak lol thats a massive overpayment, not a discount... kaberle with 2 years left on his deal is worth so much more than kaberle with half a year left on his deal.

  • @DzekoSucks True.

  • If Boston had Kessel last playoffs, Kessel would of scored a goal to give them a 4-0 over Philly.

  • burke and leafs are a fail

  • i like burke, i think hes a great gm, but hes full of shit here. theres NO WAY he would have traded that pick if he knew it was a top 2 pick.

  • Kessell can score 30 goals every season. Seguin will take years to score 30, even he even can get to 30.

  • @whitecloud1980 Kessel didn't do anything until his 3rd yr. Seguin's improved so far this yr, but I think everyone who pointed to his low totals last yr and comapring him to Kessel is stupid. Kessel did jack squat his 1st 2 yrs-I'm a Bruins fan, I watched him do virtually nothing noteworthy to make an impact his 1st 2 yrs. & when he scored 36 he was playing w/ Savard

Kessel is a VERY good player. But give Tyler until his 3rd year to see what happens. A more valid comparison can then be made.

  • Burke should move on, Burke has destroyed the Toronto Maple Leafs for the next 5 years or more.

  • what makes me laugh the most about this trade is arguing with a leafs fan about this trade and the only thing having to their defense is "well maybe this years draft is a dud"

  • 2:00 Burke's definition of "Top End Assets":

Nazem Kadri - at that point - never played a game even in AHL

Gustavsson - never played in North America

Tyler Bozak - never drafted/ never played in NHL at that point

    Christian Hanson - ???

That's some frightfully bad misconceptions about players... WOW!!! This is a freaking Goldmine into Burke's seriously demented and disillusioned way of thought. What a colossal fool!!!

He's sooo stupid I almost feel sorry for him.... well.. of course not.

    Sucker!

  • @bluesgurugod

Burke & Nonis built the canucks. If the canucks win the cup it's because of them.

  • Ok cut the fan-boy shit. Lets call it what it was. AN OVERPAYMENT. Burke overpaid for kessel there is no bones about it. Now Kessel is a good player, probably gets 30 goals a year, could do more but he's streaky as fuck (10 game goal-less drought this year). Lets say the leafs veterans didnt underachieve so bad last year and boston got idk.... swartz, gormley, mclrath, burmistrov.... looks like a better trade no? Hindsights a bitch.

  • lets see how Seg boy does next season!

  • Brian Burke traded 2 x # 1 picks and a # 2 pick to Boston for Phill Kessel, I think this will go down as the worst trade in Maple Leaf history.

  • They both suck Kessel and Seguin. 2 first round picks=Staal or even a Kopitar. Come on.

  • Burke! Ya messed up on that one. It's gonna haunt you for a while.

  • @jjpeterson1 Tyler Seguin will 90% likely never be as good as phil kessel. Kessel has speed, a great shot, and give him a good center and he could score 40-50 goals.

  • @troyMLG yes, but is he going to be as good as another top 5 pick

  • 'After we drafted Kadri', why would you base anything on drafting a paki if you're talking hockey? That's completed retarded

  • The WORST trade in NHL history. Burke is a fool.

  • @tomcat13claws How could you say that if you don't know if Seguin will be any good or not? Retard.

  • Yea, The Leafs suck balls. But did anyone REALLY think they'd make the playoffs this year? Nope. Burke has put together a good core of players. For the first time since Joseph, we have reliable goalies. a solid defense core, phaneuf, scheen, kaberle, aulie.

  • @mochopz Kaberle is not his doing, in fact his damnedest to get a top 6 forward for him. Phaneuf is looking terrible right now and Gus is looking shaky while Giguere is out with an injury. I know he said he was building from the net out but what has he really built? Apparently Burke has thought they were playoff bound since he traded two lottery picks to a division rival...

  • Only Burke and the weather man can get it 100% wrong and still have a job.

  • hey burke you're in fear of receiving wrath from other teams in regards to offering your players offer sheets? trust me, nobody would ever give your players (other than kessel) an offer sheet...garbage team down there in toronto

  • lol Burke is serious with the deal

  • Rob Pearson, Steve Bancroft, Brandon Convery, Jeff Ware, Luca Cereda, Brad Boyes, Carlo Colaiacovo, Alex Steen and Jiri Tlusty <<<<< the complete list of Maple Leaf 1st round busted draft picks. By looking at this list it seems like 1st round draft picks dont work out for Toronto. This is the longest list of 1st round draft busts out of any other team in the nhl,

  • @CorruptedFilms

Cereda shouldn't qualify as a bust - he had health issues that kept him out of the league. It's unfair to say he was a bad pick.

Boyes's a 1x40 goal, 2x30 goal scorer and had one bad year.

Steen started off slow, but hit 20 goals last year.

Carlo isn't an all star d-man, but he's fairly solid. Good passer and can lay people out (even though he doesn't too often).

    In summation, you're an idiot.

  • @Psiakochu Steen and Carlo became descent players after they were traded to st.louis, thats the other thing to, when players leave Toronto their game excels, Tlusty had great hands, he scored 25 goals in the AHL. The problem for him was he was to nervous to play with the leafs. Justin Pogge was another highly touted prospect but the pressure crushed him in Toronto.

  • i think edmontons right up there too haha

  • Brian burke as a true leafs fan. Gotta say you are a bum and have no clue what you are doing. Go back to yourDucks team we dont need bur nouts like you. You already killed this franchise and it is showing. Thanks for nothing piece of crap.

  • The real answer is that: I'm an idiot and I've mortgaged the future of the Toronto Maple Leafs and will be looked upon as the greatest GM in Boston history who never worked for Boston. I can never admit my terrible errors because I am an arrogant, egotistical SOB who really hasn't the sense of how to conduct trades in the post-lockout era of the NHL. But because I work for Toronto I will be allowed to get away with this because we have the most undemanding fans in hockey history...

  • THANK YOU KESSEL!

  • @atomictaco94 Why are you idiots thanking Kessel, like it was his fault he got traded? Because he wanted more money...DUHHHH of course he did. Kessel has double the points of Seguin, and over triple the goals on a team with no support. It's great that you love Seguin but why not thank Burke, Chiarelli or last years Leaf team?

  • @atomictaco94 I don't know why you're thanking Kessel you moron...maybe because Seguin scored a goal against Toronto while he was on the ice? lol you douchebag, Boston is missing Kessel so bad right now they have no scorers and Seguin doesn't have what it takes to be a consistent scorer. Jokes on you and the disgusting Bruins franchise who gave up 4 straight wins to Philly and lost 4-3. Go Leafs Go!

  • @SonnyA89 haha wow thats funny, were missing him? we are 6-2 at the moment and ahead of you. where was your boy kessel on thursday? oh yea shying away from the puck, faning on his passes and not playing defense all because he got banged around. yea he scored 30 last year but where was your team? oh yea at the bottom of the conference. thank you and have a nice day ;)

  • @atomictaco94

    This guy likes dicks,

    Who agrees?

  • @atomictaco94 Doesn't matter, who the fuck gives away a 3-0 lead in the playoffs? Jesus Christ even the analysts were laughing their asses off, Boston's rep went down 2 tiers just because of that. And before you insult the Leafs again no matter what you say, we will always have fans, officials will always be sucking our dicks and we will always be the center of the hockey universe.

  • @atomictaco94 And on that note the only reason Boston is doing so good is because of Timmy Thomas, but his luck will run out and Rask will be starter and he won't perform as well as Thomas....

  • @SonnyA89 no the reason we are doing so good is because we have scoring depth, depth at the blue line and the best goaltending tag team in the nhl. you have one guy and thats about it. now run along and go play in the mud

  • @SonnyA89 I believe the bruins are near the top in 5 on 5 scoring and near the top in fewest goals allowed. The bruins arent missing Kessel one bit.

  • @CookieMonster1o The only reason Boston is doing as good as they are is goaltending. Take that away and you guys would be 8th/9th right now. You have no pure goal scorers left on your team except maybe Lucic who's doing alright if best.

  • @SonnyA89

may have been a disgusting series to have them come back and beat the B's, but hey we can't say what would have happened to Toronto in that situation because you actually have to MAKE THE PLAYOFFS for it to happen, another feat that it seems Toronto won't be able to overcome AGAIN..

  • @MrShmit11 Hey every team has their ups and down...it's just that Toronto has never blown a 3-0 lead in the playoffs. HAHAHA!

  • @SonnyA89 When was the last time the leafs made the playoffs? to blow a 3-0 lead?, seriously I don't hate the leafs, but dude come on. Atleast Boston has been making it, and what now looks like 2 future franchise players in Seguin and whoever they draft 2nd - 5th spot. Toronto is rebuilding the Boston Bruins so they don't have too haha. The leafs are a joke, you notice that other teams usually keep there 1st round picks? why can't the leafs? Joke team, with a joke fanbase.

  • @SonnyA89 toronto is awful hahaha

  • @SonnyA89 K so then why are the Bruins in the cup final then big guy? eat them words

  • @SonnyA89 You say this but now look, the Boston Bruins are in the Cup Finals and about to whip the shit out of Luongo and that dirt bag European captain of their's

  • @bigmeatballz208 It's ironic because i'm actually going for Boston now. I'd rather see you guys win than Vancouver anyday. ;)

  • @SonnyA89 One year after the loss to Philly... Are the Bruins still missing Kessel?

  • @fieldmarshal46 Read my second post. I'm going for Boston. Anyone over Vancouver. :=)

  • @fieldmarshal46 you never know, it might work out for both teams it wasnt that bad of a trade

  • @SonnyA89 Well, the Bruins did win the Stanley Cup this year.

  • @SonnyA89 Ha you suck, leafs suck. Kessel sucks. And yes thank you kessel because seguin is way better then kessel was and has amazing offensive skill. all he needs is experience. oh and by the way

    BRUINS WON THE CUP BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SonnyA89 Phil Kessel doesn't have a cup with the Bruins, Seguin does. I respect Kessel so much for his work on and off the ice while he played for the Bruins. I wish him luck with the maple leafs

  • @SonnyA89 Who won the 2011 Stanley Cup? Oh, right that was the team that you're trashing.

  • @floormonkeys Tim Thomas won the stanley cup. If it wasn't for him, the Bruins would have been out of the playoffs in the first round. they have no one up front, only Thomas.

  • @Cogsy9216 Right. Vancouver had incredible offense, but lost due to their horrific goalie. I mean 8 goals in 7 games? It's all Luongo's fault! Boston's offense sucked, 23 goals? No offense up front. Especially that bum David Krejci who lead playoff scoring...

  • @MrEpikPenguin Ya exactly! And they say Boston will probably go far in the playoffs again this year, and probably win the cup again. Fuck that! They have no one that will do anything for them, except Thomas. Thomas will be the only reason they win games, period.

  • @SonnyA89

Hey ya little cum guzzling grade A faggot the Bruins won the cup, lead the conference, went 12-0-1 in November, beat your faggot laffs 6-2, 7-0, 6-3, 4-1 and Seguin is on pace for a 35 goal season while being tops in +/-

    eat your words hahahahaha

  • Patrick Stefan was selected 1st overall by atlanta thrashers

and Kessel is by far a better player than him. So just because its 1st overall or 2nd overall does not guarantee a 50 goal scorer.

  • @CorruptedFilms There have only been 2 busts picked 1st overall in the last 30 years. I'd say that while it's not 100% lock, it IS a 95% lock...

  • @BoSoxnation1972 The odds in Toronto is much lower just because there is so much pressure to play in Toronto. Yes i agree its about 95% that a top 2 pick will develop in Boston however im gonna say its about a 45-50% chance a top 2 pick will develop in Toronto.

  • lol ppl are already saying boston won the deal or w.e and i say we wont know until we see seguin play, not saying that seguin is not a good player but i mean kessel scored 30 goals playing with who? i think if kessel plays with versteeg and bozal/kadri next year he will get into the 40+ goal mark, and lets not forget not many players can score 40+ goals a year.

  • @narutovideos23 i 100% agree wiht u he can score 30 goals by him self with some help id say 40

  • @narutovideos23 I agree; too early to analyze the trade - in fact, we'll have to wait a good five years to see how everyone, including Kessel works out. And to bolster your comments about Kessel scoring 30 goals "with who", he scored 30 missing 12 games and when he came back he was still playing hurt for much of the season. Bozak, Versteeg and Kessel will be a solid first line. The defence and goaltending is strong; I'm excited about this season. In only 1 1/2 years as GM, BB's done a great job.

  • im a die hard leafs fan but wow the leafs got fucked lol

  • Burke made the leafs better than what they where, there is no dispute about that. So if this is what he means that he would do the trade again then so be it. HOWEVER let's be realistic, Seguin and Kessel will not have identical careers. One guy will have a better career than the other. Also, I believe Burke undersold the Seguin and Hall pick because both these players will be be superstars and Kessel a star. The fact that he admits that he would do the trade again even today is plain ego.

  • I wonder how many people realize that Burke lives just outside of Boston. He's a Boston guy. Leafs fans must be pissed and a little suspicious about Burke's motives.

  • I don't think Glen Sather wouldve done something this stupid....then again he is paying Wade Redden 6.5 mil a year so I take my first statement back.

  • @IAMBLACKSTIG I think a lot of people overrate Glen Sather. He has not been impressive in his long tenure in NY. Sure, he won 4 Cups in Edmonton but Gretzky and others moreless fell into his lap. The Rangers have done dick-all under his leadership - that says a lot.

  • Thank you Leafs!!!

  • Thank you brian burke. You ruined the leafs for years to come : D

  • In my opinion the Phil Kessel trade was worth it. Where else can you get a one way scorer who can't stay on the ice? I wonder which GM wins this, Seguin + picks vs Kessel. Going to be very interesting.

  • @SierraM363 seguin

  • @SierraM363 boston wins

  • I like how Burke is clearly still mad at the Dustin Penner offer sheet. It's too bad how he is completely wrong about how the team that offers the offer sheet becomes a target. The Oilers have not been the target of a offer sheet years after the Penner deal went down.

  • the Phil Kessel trade was worth it. Kessel is still a young player who has one of the best shots ive ever seen. The leafs have enough prospects right now anyway. Bozak, Stalberg, and Hanson are gonna get better. Burke is right you dont need a 5 year rebuild to turn this team around. Also the leafs had bad luck with 1st round draft picks in the past. Jiri Tlusty and Alex Steen were 1st round picks that never developed.

  • @CorruptedFilms Toronto is in so much trouble it's going to be a long 5 years until Toronto will have a chance there making Boston a team who can win the cup

  • @CorruptedFilms but wouln't it be better to get a younger guy with the same if not more skill?

  • @Mohamed518 There is no guarantees in the draft you can potentially get a young guy with a ton of skill or you can get a young player who wont develop which has happened often in Toronto. Im not sure what it is about the leafs, its could be really bad scouting or just really bad luck.

  • Wow... he must really hate his job, not the GM part, the fact that he works for the leafs, he is ruining the franchise and the Leafs need a hometown hero other than Kadri.

  • @Steviecool7 kadri will do a great job but it would have been nice to have 2 "home town hero's"

  • This guy is a pussy.

  • @xmuscularghandix - thanks for the insightful input you internet-tough-guy douche bag. I bet the only part of your body that could be described as 'muscular' is your throat from swallowing so much cock. In person you would be the guy fluffing Brian Burke.

  • Its not like hes going to say no to that question. Idiot.

  • wheres the rest bro
