  • the 1992-1998 Pontiac Grand Am was assembled in

    Lansing, Michigan, United States

  • damn i hope this will fit on a cutlass ciera

  • where did you buy this bro i need to know i have a 1997 grand am gt 3.1L v6!! i am looking to get an exhaust system can you lead me into the right direction?!?! your help will help alot

  • @tmakidd0703 I got mine from Amazon.com as that was the cheapest place to find them, then just take them to any muffler shop and have them weld them up. here's a link: amazon.com/gp/product/B000CCG082?ie=UTF8&tag=deabybin-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000CCG082

  • @DeathbyBinary thnks bro i will check tht out

  • @alexanderocks All 3100's do that. It's not usually a prolem.

  • its not your Coil housing problem,

  • not enough back pressure. down size your mufflers and pipes and it would sound alot better because now instead of having only one muffler to pass through you obziosly have two wich means your engine only has to work half as hard to push out the exhaust wich is why it has that out of breath sound once your engine hit o about 3,400 or 3,800 rpm. trust me i did this with my 3.1 and it sounded alot meaner and it didnt backfire like i bet yours does when you down shift

  • popcorn? jk

  • @streetcivic09 now that you mention it, it does sound like popcorn popping when i let up off the gas in this vid. LOL i blame it on the 3100 and the fact that there was no load on the engine... the puny engine under the hood has since been replaced with something a bit bigger with a nice supercharger whine :P

  • lol i understand what you mean man i had a spi focus that thing was sad haha but sounded good tho. switch that motor out with the gtp k did it to his and its swett sounds beter tosupercharged motor or the 3.4 my friend at worj

  • @DeathbyBinary whta did u swap it 2????? i would guess a 3800 s/c

  • @corekid420 you guessed correct :)

  • @DeathbyBinary i would like to see a video of that swap!

  • nice i got the same model and car (4 door) and i want one, sounds nice....

  • My 94 GA GT with dual Exhaust sounds nearly the same.

  • I got a '97 GA GT and im trying to get as much power outta that little 3100 V6 its got in it so if anyone has any tips id love to hear them, and also does anyone know of a good cold air intake system that will fit in it too?

  • lol no bolt on horsepower for those 3100

V6's, people have put 3.4 intakes onto them, people even put whole heads onto them, is it auto or manual, you can play with the timing

  • not much you can do to the old small-port 3100s like ours. Milzy Motorsports has heads, cams, and intakes for them. But if you're looking for decent gains, swap to atleast a 3400 and then add mods. Also, if you have access to a tuner, you can up the timing and tune for 91 octane. I did that on a pretty much stock engine and besides the slightly better acceleration, I'm also seeing 31mpg highway(my best before tuning was 28mpg), and that's with my 18x7.5 anchors for wheels. ;-)

  • Sanctity2112,

Not sure what your gonna do with the N/A 3100 to get a lot of power, but the internets is your friend.

As for a CAI, make your own. And if your going to do that go for a FWI (the air is so much cooler). No matter which you do get a high quality K&N. Don't get an off brand or a no-brand.

    Good luck with it!

  • @Sanctity2112 My turbo was custom installed by me. Custom headers, custom exhaust, custom, custom, custom... Check out mine, all I need now is a newer brain and a tuner... Does NE1 know where to get a tuner for a 97 GA brain??

Oh, I have injectors from a 98 3800 Supercharged engine (37 lbs?), i just need a TUNER! Where??

  • OH! And does NE1 know if a 97 brain will plug and play with the 96 wiring???

  • thats kickass! my muffle is rotting away right now and the sound is killing me. I want those pipes!

  • how much did this cost...???

  • I found a deal on Amazon for both mufflers for $130 shipped. they're a bit more now. then i had a friend at my previous workplace put my car up on a lift and weld them up for $35.

  • hey i got a 98 too did u strait pipe it or what? please let me no need some ideas!

  • I have the same year and all like yours. I was curious if you did the piping to the catalic converter or did you cut it off before the y pipe. Cause people wont do the whole piping. cause the rear axle gets in the way I suppose.

  • i gotta a 97 ga gt..and it cant be stock..i beat my brother 04 lincoln ls(v8) with it... and many other cars..for bein a v6 these things moove..

  • what motor is in these?

  • v6 3.? leiter

  • did you have to Y pipe the pipes to do this? cuz im deffinetly doing this i have an 04 ga gt.

  • My year gt already had a y-pipe and 2 mufflers, so it worked out pretty easy for me. 99+ gt's only have a single pipe going into 1 muffler and then the muffler has 2 outlets on each side. you will have to cut the pipe back by the rear axle and put your y-pipe there. then run pipes to each muffler on either side. if you're going to go the y-pipe route, then you might as well start after the cat and use 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch tubing for a full cat-back system. you won't regret it. ;-)

  • I have magnaflows on my 97 grand am gt. It sounds like I have a v8 in it :)

  • not beakin you but i got a 96 3.1 with CAI and full exhaust and sounds meannn ill post a video so. also watch you lim gaskets ;)

  • I know all about those silly LIMs ;) can't wait. i'd love to see a vid of your ride.

  • ya ill try to put on up.

  • That sound is awesome man.

  • that would be a pretty badass car if you do a tranny swap

  • 5speed or auto??? if thats a 5speed i would envy your life, haha

  • lol I wish it was a 5-speed. I am seriously considering swapping a 5-speed from a Beretta in.

  • nice dude! magnaflow's are amazing..so are grand am's

  • hmm i hear a lifter tick at start... gotta love the 3.1l v6 and all of the weired noises that they make lol.

  • Hey i have the same car and was just wondering how you did this, any special parts?

  • The oe mufflers on our cars sit in further. To get the tips flush with the bumper cutouts, I had to weld in some extra pipe before the mufflers. So, just some extra piping and universal exhaust hangers was all I needed.

  • Dumb question here....

Do your gauges shoot up like in the newer Grand Ams?

  • I know what you're talking about. No, mine don't do that.
