This was the dawn of bodybuilding - what it was supposed to be about. To have the most beautiful physique, and one which was muscular, strong, athletic, and attractive. Today's IFBB have completely lost the idea of what bodybuilding is supposed to be about. It's not supposed to be about looking like a circus freak.
Steriods have been around since the 1930s for all you people who think it was impossible for these guys to be on them. Im not saying they did steriods jsut get you facts straight.
@gwatson101 you are right, in GERMANY they had oral steroid tablets- first given to the SS from later 1930's to increase aggressiveness. I'm not sure about other countries but pharmaceuticals are shared under cooperative license with different companies... Anyone can Google any of this information, it is all on the internet on multiple sources!
Thanks for posting. Steve Reeves was the best looking man ever lived! If you have any other his video from competition, please let me know. Regards,Marek
Steve Reeves is the best looking man ever lived! And natural way, without steroids! Thanks for posting. If you have another video from Steves competition years, please let me know.
The two Reeves no relations...love the chick trying to walk doen the steps in her high heels as graceful as a horse...that guy wrestling is Andre Drapp the Franch canadian builder/wrestler.
Hey studywar , Your IGNORANT . The CIBA PHARMA. PATENT ( approved by FDA ) was in 1959. It then had to be manufactured and distributed to Pharmacies before it could be prescribed by Doctors in 1960 I got my info from Phys. Desk Reference ; where did you get yours ? He won the MR.AMERICA in 1947 ( home from occupied JAPAN less than a year ) and Mr. UNIVERSE in 1950 , after his movie contract was ended. REEVES is FAMOUS for portraying HERCULES ; you're only known as a JEALOUS ASSHOLE .
not a Mr. Universe winner, but if you are talking about the most beautiful man in the world the holder of the title ADONIS with the perfect physique was NOT Mr. Reeves but LOU DEGNI (film star MARK FOREST)
just what is your problem talking to a perfect stranger as if you were a filthy PIG!!!!!!!!!!! Lou Degni has a HUGE following and he REALLY WAS called the ADONIS WITH THE PERFECT PHYSIQUE before following Steve Reeves to Italy to do sword and sandal films. Just google Larry Scott's coverage of meeting Lou Degni for the first time in a california gym and you would have thought that the handsome FIRST Mr. Olympia Mr. Scott had been talking about a superhuman or something more.
for the development that steve reeves shows in youtube's own GOLIATH AND THE BARBARIANS clip, it is incredible to think that he did this WITHOUT steroids....ronnie coleman is HUGE but doesn't have Reeves' symmetry
Steve Reeves had cloes to the perfect body and it was all built naturally. Steroids were not around in his day. He had symmetry, mass and definition in equal proportion
Steroids were around before then, and Steve Reeves used them. Kurt Marnul, Larry Scott, and Sergio Oliva have said as much on record. Larry Scott (I think) said that Steve Reeves introduced him to them. You can find copies online if you care to look.
Reeves cant defend himself now, but he did when alive: Kurt's a proven liar: He's remained silent rather than explain absurd contradictions in his claims. Sergio refers to rumors he heard from Mamul & apparently believes. Sergio's 'slow': Meaningless. Scott? YOU "find copies online" & tell me where to find them: They don't exist. Steroids were not part of the BBng world until the 50s..We can all see this for ourselves in the sudden big gains everyone made c'58. Reeves retired in '50.
yes, ur right, I just wish these ignorant people knew what they were talking about. Every person who is actually involved in the sport of bodybuilding knows that Steve Reeves DID use anabolic steroids, and yes, steroids WERE around back then. The first form of synthetic injectable testosterone was discovered by a German scientist in the early 1930's and the highly potentent oral steroid which is still widely used by bodybuilders today, Dianabol, was manufactured from the early 1950's.
your absolutely right steroids was out in the early 1930's, Hitler had alot of his soldiers take steroids back then, suppossedly to make them superior to other soldiers.
@daytona0101 Steeve Reeves had not only symmetry mass and definition but much more...agility balance speed power..his body and spirit were in perfect rhythm and equilibrium....not many left today...
I cant believe steeve reeves has a 29 inch waist and he was in the low 200 pound category 6ft 1. Its got to be measured wrong cause he looks more lika 32 inch waist cause 29 inch waist is really small for his size
Reeves 29" waist explains how he could be so tall, muscular & 'only' weigh 215. It also explains why he could have the most extreme taper on a tall man while 'only' having a 52" chest. Arnold(56"/ 34") only had a good front-taper when spreading his lats, Reeves had it even when relaxed. In his twisted, vacuum. back- pose he had virtually no waist. Even in shots of Steve in @ 70, his waist was no more than 32". This all leads me to believe that Reeves did indeed have a 29" waist at his best.
Such timelessly gorgeous bodies! ... Unfortunately, "La Venus De Cannes" just can not walk in her high heels -- just like today's female porn models, before they get 'swept' off their feet ... But who cares about those? ... Vive la grace maculine!
Who was that bodybuilder stretching, he was pretty flexible. I like how aesthetic bodybuilders were then, not these enormous monsters they have today.
that is the way today bodybuilders should take. when I see Steve Reeves I understand there is no one today who has his genetics. He's unbelievable. His body must be worshipped until end of time.
When I saw the title, "The Most Beautiful Man in the World" I thought of Steve Reeves. Very happy to see he is still influential today. Reeves truly did have the most beautiful physique and look ever.
There actually were steroids back then, and it's reasonably possible that Reeves had access to them. He is one of the first to lift strictly for appearance, actually avoiding developement of muscles if he ooke better that way,(as taught by Vince Gironda). drugas an philosphy aside, Reeve's taper was genetic: You can't change where your hip bones and shoulder bones are.
HE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED SAMSON! But CECIL B DEMILLE THOUGHT HE WAS TOO MUSCULAR! And VICTOR MURTURE! Got the ROLE! WHAT RIP OFF! THAT'S SUPERMAN SHOULD LOOK LIKE! BRANDON ROUTH! PLEASE! And TOM WELLING (SMALLVILLE!) you're running out of TIME! R.I.P. STEVE YOU'RE THE BEST EVER!
According to what I had read in books and on the internet, it said that George Reeves is Steeve Reeves father, unless the people that wrote this don't know what they are talking about.
It would be nearly impossible, as George was in his early 30s when he was in Gone with the Wind in 1939 and Steve Reeves won his first physique contest in the late 1940s.
Your right I went to another website, just a minute ago and said they are often confused, but are not related. I for one would like to know where those people whose books and internet sites got there information from.
