  • When you opened the door to the crew rest area I thought it was a lavatory at first so I wasn't paying close attention... Then you backed out for a second and I thought... what the hell did I just see??? Then you went down the stairs... WOW I thought that kind of thing was only in the movies!!! Thanks for sharing that with us! But my next question is, how often does that get used? And how often does it get taken advantage of? I'm sure there is a strict policy, but such a cozy space!

  • Is this the old configuration?

  • mh, also für meinen Geschmack sieht das Kabinendesign aber ziemlich altmodisch aus! Ist mehr was für Rentner!

  • At 1:35, the door on the left, where does it go to?

  • Those economy seats look soooo cheap! It doesn't make me feel like I'd like to sit on them!!

  • @m1r3o it still beats all american carriers. And for that matter, there is a product designed for Passengers like yourself : Its called Business or First Class.

    cheers, dom

  • @m1r3o OMG, here in America we get nice tiny, leathery sweaty seats, thos economy seats are 5x as good as American carriers!

  • So this is how they all disappear mid flight!

  • I didn't see anybody resting. Who needs resting these days when energy drinks and shots are available.

  • Has economy class individual tvs?

  • I am spanish and I feel offended by your comment!!

  • @00821716 am sure he didnt generalize about spanish people.

    I love them :)

  • hide! the crew are coming!

  • 0:59 is there a special lock (crew need a key to get door open) in crew rest door or just a simple lock like a lavatory door?

  • @omaalto hi, it is a special lock that requires keys.in the beginning (when we got the a343), there were just simple toilett door locks, and i had to get some chinese passengers out there once :)

Arent NO WAY, NO ENTRY Signs international :) ?

    greetings, dom

  • @dnhug maybe not, if they particularly are chinese or spanish passengers. and zealous airplane-enthusiast! in the certain short A343 (crew rest entrance in same position than swiss) flight, i saw when few sleepy women stalked that there is no one flight attendant in sight. then one of them lifted the sign, slided the knob into "open position" and they went immediately downstairs. flight was only 6 hours long, so no one member of cabin crew knew it. maybe they had luck when they came out. :)

  • Do you have recorded this onboard a Swiss Airbus A340?? The entryway to the crew-rest area looks very, very narrow. Thanks for sharis this really uncommon passenger,s view of sight. Hopefully you,ve not trouble with the Crew regarding going downstairs.

  • @markuss1977 thanks mate!

Naa , im fine :) I just keep pointing out it's a crew only area, special keys are needed to enter.

And yes, it is very narrow and steep.

thank you for watching, all the best, dom

  • Is that a toilet door imagine if it was you walked in and tripped down the stairs you could SUE that airline

  • @FlyDeltaAirlines100 :) Im on it hahahahaha

    greets, dom

  • great video!

  • @shanhitex thanks!

  • Do you work for Swiss?

  • @oceancity1000 yep :) see my channel for all the deatils.

    cheers!

  • Well you fly free so don get all Mr. brag with me :)))

  • @wizzair1313 thats true my friend :) And i can sit in the cockpit if i want to :) just the other day i flew first to bombay, ah man, the way to travell :)

you can tell me about it :)

il have a vid of the new first class properly inspected, stay tuned!!

  • @wizzair1313 oh, and i hope you didnt forget to sub back mate :)

  • Awesome Video Dom!!!

  • @bkingair350 thanks mate :)

its funny, the vid i never thought anybody would watch, is my most viewed hahaha

    cheers, dom

  • I always thought all the crew stayed awake during the flight...

  • @Rogapol up to 9hours mate :)

on a 12hour flight, you get two shifts of each 3 hours. So half of the flight, only half the cabin crew is awake :)

    greeets, dom

  • When I fly swiss I fly first class always.

  • @wizzair1313 yeah because economy sucks

first class doesnt have in fllight entertainment, imagine how boring would economy be

  • @Felipe140396 what are you talking about man? First Class without IFE ?

You havent flown swiss lately havent you :) ?

Go figure, how could swiss win award after award, if everything would be so crappy and boring like you just said..?

    Imagine!

  • @dnhug well im sorry, as ive seen on the vid, there is no screen. unless it is in the armrest. if yes im sorry,

emirates airlines has won way more awards for the best IFE

check out my vid on my channel about emirates

  • @Felipe140396

    Ah, i see.

In the old first class, the IFE Screen was in the armrest. In the new first class, its right infront of the passenger, and its friggin huge mate.

In Economy, the IFE Screen is in the headrest of every passenger seat, and everybody gets one. Except the crew in the bunks :)

I did check out your vids indeed, and yes, emirates has had a better standart on IFE. But we will see what the pax think of our new stuff first :)

    cheers, dom

  • @wizzair1313

good choice, i had that experience many time and i friggin loved it :)

    thx for your comment :)

  • its wierd how the crew disappears right after we take off on long hails flights and sleep all night....

  • So are you a flight attendant or pilot for SWISS or some sort?

  • oh camon... thats the rest room!... rest... go rest and stop videos becase you fly tomorow...:D

    lovely video , Continue

    cheers

  • @LST195b check :)

that was done wayy before boarding, no intention to rest yet :)

    cheers mate

  • Very cool, I have never seen the crew rest, interesting to see how they fit so many beds in that small of an area.

  • @JJtheJaxartosaurus then you will enjoy the newest crewbunk special : the claustrophobic one :)

its a video response to this video here!

  • whats these for a a340

  • @FreestyleBoy001 its a a340-300 ,

    thx for watching, dom

  • Awesome!

    Thanks...

    Angie

  • sweet

  • video of the new first class seats is online!

  • @ dnhug

i agree with u the point that the airlines who Decide where to go comfort wise, Boeing and Airbus deliver just the "hardware" .Because Emirates airlines' in boing 777 crew rest is comfortable while same boing 777 in KLM is not that comfi

  • @ dnhug

  • flying to germany this summer from south carolina, would u recomend either,

an Airbus a340-600 or Boeing 747-8

  • The crew rest in BOEING aircraf r much better and comfort than in AIRBUS's one

  • @ Airdubai1

yeah 30 years ago When Those Boeing Where built, nobody Cared about fuel usage and payload :-)

I dont know bout the 777 but the 747 crew rest is not the sweetest place to stay Either ! you cannot say: this manufacturer is more comfortable: its the airlines who Decide where to go comfort wise, Boeing and Airbus deliver just the "hardware"

  • Claustrophobic. I mean, the crew rest bunks. I wouldn´t like to be down there in turbulences. The pax cabin is quite nice.

  • fine ok :-)

  • I love Swiss! Thank you for this sir!

  • bsolutely welcome dude :-)

    cheers mate,greets, dom

  • :o) this is identical to the crew rest areas on the aircraft I work. We have another at the aft section as well as just behind business (in the centre) Really good vid!

  • I just thought of a great sales idea:

Rent out a certain amount of crew rest beds during times that they are not in use! for ppl in economy on a crowded flight, one may be willing to pay a premium for a good, short, quiet rest in a calm/quiet area!

  • impossible!!

No friggin' way thats gonna happen :-)

No honestly mate, we ( I !! ) need some precious time away from passengers. On my own. Its a great place to go to and NOT having paying passengers around you..! Dont take that away from us aswell LOL!

If ya all want more space, theres just what you want a few classes further up , cheers

  • lol, I suppose thats true! You guys need rest and time away from our nagging =P

  • yea those first class seats looked nice. What kind of plane was this? airbus?

  • thanks, yep, its a airbus 340-300.

    cheers mate

PS, the entire longhaul fleet will recieve new seats (economy, business and first class, business and first will have fully lie flatt beds)

  • Dear All,

I have two quetsions about psychology:

    *Why do we love flying?

*Why do we like commerical air travel?

THANK YOU IN ADVNACE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!!

  • *gasp* Now you've shown everyone where the secret sex lounge is.

    :)

  • secret sex lounge Lol yeah dude!

    i wish... :-)

too sad your practically never alone down there...!

    cheers mate

  • does this aircraft gave personal tvs ??

  • yes, everybody has its own screen and remote control. In the overwing are the screens are hidden in the lower armrest and flip forwards.

    cheers

  • The cabin looks clean and fresh. Throw in 200 people though and you get squishy sardine can syndrome. yuck. The only way to go is first class.

  • on that crew rest do they go to bed at the bunks? or what?

  • yep,( cabin)crew sleeping facilitys.

Il upload one of the flight deck rest facilitys soon,

    cheers man

  • Pretty sweet. Imagine getting a passenger back there with ya ;-P

  • :-)

yeah man that can become a fantasy of a f/a hahaha , many storys could be told LOL

    cheers mate

  • F/As have fantasies about passengers? Wow...I'm sure some of us passengers have fantasies about the cabin crew :)

  • Super video! Mit dem Stuehl bini uf BKK gfloge. Ha mi echt wohl gfühlt bi eu. Go Swiss!

  • Nice! I've always wanted to see the crewrest areas. Wondering if the pilots or cabin crew ever do the hanky panky down there ;-) LOL...

  • they have (unfortunately) seperated crewrests.. cabin / / / cockpit

  • perhaps we can end your statement with "...for obvious reasons". LOL :)

  • :-) your right buddy LOL

  • are u a pilot for swiss?

  • nope, im a trolley dolley:-)

I fly privatly, in my tiny spare time.

Look forward to the new first class and business class, completely new stuff, walkthrough in the brand new a330-300, seats and galleys, everything coming very soon on my channel.

    Cheers everybody

  • trolley dolley lol never heard that one nice cabin i do prefer AC cuz my dad works for them but this is great

  • yea, that upgrade thats the older airbus 340 i waz in that exact plane. i also waz in the upgraded one...very nice.

  • i bi scho dranne pilot z wärde...

  • what are c-class and y-class. do you mean actual passengers get to sleep in the bunks?

  • C-Class is Business Class (first, bigger seats in the video)

    Y-Class is Economy Class.

The Bunk is for crew use only and requires a key.

8 beds for crewmembers on duty.

    cheers

  • how many bunks total?

  • hy , there are 8 "beds".

1 for the purser, two for c-class, two for y-class,two for first class.

one usually stays empty--> minium crew complement as always..

    cheers

  • I didn't realise they separate out the cabin crew into different classes. Can cabin crew for economy class work for say first class at the next flight or at they all stuck in the same classes until they get "promoted"?

  • the newbees only work in economy, business and first you need extra training and extra courses. First class is a closed section of F/A's , the get promoted (or have to apply/pay for it).

    greets dom

  • What do you mean by "pay for it"? The FAs have to pay to get promoted into First Class FA?

  • yes. there is one specific course (eidg. Berufsprüfung BIGA) that the F/a's have to pay for to get into the course. Its required from swiss. Maybe swiss pays something towards the costs of the BIGA, but its still a expense swiss wants us to take in order to work in first class.

  • What course is that? Sorry, I don't read Swiss German.

And isn't it a bit strange that employees need to pay? Is there disgruntlement within Swiss F/As about this or perhaps it is not an issue for them?

  • The course is a federal Test that officially tests Flight Attendants. Its required from swiss and our union if you wanna work in first class, or wanna be a "maitre de cabine/purser" . Its called BIGA (here in switzerland).

That employees need to pay for the test isnt a issue at all. Well i need to add that our union (kapers) who is taking care of the cabin crew of swiss - their a useless bunch in my opinion. So the paying thingie wont change, as much as other things wont.

    cheers

  • VERY NICE.. possibly going with swiss to los angeles next year. would be very nice.! swiss is asesome@! and even the economy class got a nice PTV

  • Thx for your comment! With the brandnew C Class Seat (which is a "big air pillow" ) our Product should become even better.Specially on our longest flights.

Have a good flight to LAX, enjoy the IFE and your holiday,

    cheers

  • geil ich bi soooooo nidisch uf din Job das chasch der nöd vorstelle!!!
