My 6 year old daughter is called Malaika. I was told about this song by a paediatrician at Homerton Hospital, London in November 2004 when my daughter was 2 months old: I'd never heard of it before. I remember coming home and googling it. Needless to say, I fell in love with the song the moment I heard it. As for my daughter, she always asks if the song was written about her (I wish it was!) She really is my angel and we will always love this song.

People who live in East Africa know that this title was broiled in a copyrights tussle with Fadhili Wiliams - of Jambo Boys Band until an out of court settlement was made. Denying Fadhili Williams the credits therefore must have a response to the conflict.
