It has been said that if we do not study history and learn from it then we will repeat it. For years I have heard this and that on slavery. When will people study and face the fact that "honest Abe" had to have an issue to band the North together behind a single cause, or they might not succeed in forcing the South to do as they wanted (which was to enslave this country even more than it was at the time)... so the issue of slavery was brought into the scheme of things.

I'm from Texas, and my g. grandpa always told me how my g g g grandmother was tied to a tree and shot by the union army, right in front of her kids. I wish i knew the whole story behind that

Damn man thats horrible. The blue coats were definately guilty of war crimes ad crimes against humanity for acts like that they did during the war, unfortunately they were never held accountable, the only good thing is ya know St. Peter held them accountable for it when they got up to the ole pearly gates!

yeah, you know i grew up around my g. grandpa and when he was a boy, there were still civil war vets around. my only regret is i don't remember more details of his stories. He told me about an old vet that he knew that had one leg and still rode in parades and rodeos lol that man could tell a story

Yeah I love hearin old stories from my grandpa like that lol he wasn't around for any vets from the war but he saw WWII and everything since the great depression, my grandmother had alot of stories like that too, but unfortunately I never heard any from her since she died before I was born, it's kind of sad that most of that history, all the personal accounts of it, will be gone in another 20 years.

No they didnt outlaw it "officially" we were just prsecuted for being Southrons, and our entire culture has been attacked since 1865, They have trying to rob us of our cutlure ,and our flag, ever since 1865. Its cultural genocide. A few years after the end of the war, when a reunion of the highest ranking generals was organized,Gen. Lee was in attendence, someone asked him if he regreted surrendering in 1865, his response was "If I had known it would be like this,I would have never surrendered"

I'm not sure about the cultural genocide part as I live in a blue collar area that has nothing against the South. But the point of my comment is we can't worry about the past. We need to worry about this country's future not it's history. We can't afford a divided country in times like these.

to me, in order to find our path for the future is to look at the past because the government is once again encroaching upon states rights, increasing already high taxes and wasting American dollars such as the stimulus package, so we need to seriously consider taking this country back to what the forefathers intended it to be and if that means secession which even northern states are considering along with the League of the South(a secessionist group) then it needs to be done or take USA back

I suggest that the Northerners take back their U.S.A and we secede to ressurect our great Confederacy, two seperate nations, but two seperate nations that work together like brothers, know what I mean?

Absolutely but if more states agree with us then why not form a larger Confederacy, 25 states are already considering secession even the state governments, they have learned that modern liberalism is too liberal and conservative traditionalism works out. but yeah I know what you mean, us in Dixie need to continue the tradition of following and defending the Constitution at all costs.

I would say yeah that other states joing the Confederacy would be fine, even states from the North, but really if you think about it, we would have the same problem we do now, A government on one side of the Country trying to govern states 1000 miles away, only this time it would be the Confederate government, not that our government would be bad or anything, its just that a government from the north doesnt know the wants and needs of the Southern People and vice versa too

Have u noticed how much of old american traditions are now illegal? Like White Lightnin', Pirate Radio, free speach, free thought, harvesting the wood on yer own land, fist fights, owning certain guns, self medicating, letting furry livestock stay out in the snow "too long", making a decent living, being conservative, organic gardening, making yer own E-85, watering yer lawn, shooting tresspassers, protesting w/ out a permission slip from those u r protesting, killing home invaders, & spanking.

actually no song was ever declared the "official" national anthem of the Confederacy, but it was really a contest between the 3 songs Dixie, God save the South, and the bonnie blue flag. I just prefer Dixie lol
