@deadratcatbat- they put a turbo on the M7 cause it's a gutless piece of shit, i've rode mod M7's and they are no competition.. the Apex without a turbo is just a heavy 4 stroke and that is why you see very minuscule amounts of yamahs without turbos. so don't act like you know your shit dumb ass. no one wants to hear your crap opinion about skidoo

@Huskerdoo3 they put a turbo om the m7 because it is very easy to turbo. I;m sure the ski-doo would have one to if it;s computer didn;t make it almost impossible. Cat also has the heavy dutyiest cylinders, pistons, cranks, and connecting rods so turbo's work well on them.

the r1 has a 4 cylinder engine....the sled has a 2 cylinder ...its not an R1 engine!!!

look into your specs the yamaha r1 has a 1000cc 160 hp 4 cylinder engine, the rx1 snowmobile has a 150 hp 4 cylinder 1000cc engine they are the same just a different layout and i worked at a yamaha shop for 2 years as a mechanics helper so doubt me all u want

hey really you were the mechanics helper too eh?? sweet.. i was too.. got to bring out all the machines in the morning and bring them in at night... at the end of the day i had to make sure everything was locked tighter than a tick's ass.. plus i got to do the odd quad repair...when had an old 98' kodiak 400 full time 4wd come in with the front driveshaft sitting on the rack.... so i got to fix that and put a new muffler on..

phazer 500cc 4 stroke engine are made by lots of part from yamahas 250cc dirtbike engine.. they made it 2cyl. 250+250=500cc. I know peopel who made a snowmobile engine of a 500cc 2stroke dirtbike engine. and yes it have pullstart and snowmobile clutch.

Sledhed17 - Sleds have a special type of clutch called a belt driven clutch. If you know someone with a sled ask them if you can have a look under the hood of it someday it is quite fascinating. It is an R1 motor driven through two specially designed clutches. Pretty neat.

i know quite a bit about the apex bec. my brother has one, but not so much when u turbo them, i know it's not shifing( bec, i'm not a dumb ass) but wht was the noise in the very beggining when he was getting ready to climb the hill?

The noise at 4:15 - 4:16 is the turbo.

Never hit the rev limiter in this video. My sled was only running 12 lbs. and is clutched for over 15 lbs. of boost. When a Yamaha bounces off the rev limiter you'll hear it at the peak of the rpm and it will sound like someone is cutting the sound out quickly.

Blow off valve. Just releasing boost every time I let off the throttle to avoid both compressor surge and unpredictable motor rev.
