Doesn't matter if he's half the personality, he was making one two hundredth of the others salary for much more dangerous job. Also, 7 years without revealing an identity like the Stig, even to your own kids is a feat in itself. Besides, I guarantee the whole shooting cardboard cutouts of the Stig etc. was completely scripted.

Wonder how long until Top Gear has Ben back to discuss their fall-out? It has to happen some time. If the show keeps going, eventually someone between Hammond, May, and Clarkson will realize it's time to discuss what the entire issue was about. Would make for a great episode. Just have Hammond, May and Clarkson talk to Ben if they haven't already, which I doubt. This was more of a monetary issue, not one involving women. There's every possibility Ben is on speaking terms with the three hosts.

His actions are selfish in that his motivation was more money which he honestly doesn't need. He's lucky the mystery is going on again now with a replacement. But honestly. total douchebag

People should stop sulking and grow up. Yes, its a shame there's no Stig anymore but Ben did it for SEVEN years. Everything comes to an end sometime. It was getting quite well known who he was anyway, u can't keep things a secret forever. There's a time in life when u have to move on. So what he made some money out of writing a book, it's a book that ALOT of people are interested in reading. Quit calling him a jerk, u dont even know the guy.

I don't care how great a driver Collins is, he's a jerk. People keep whining about his salary compared to Clarkson's, and I have to point out that

A.) Clarkson is twice the personality Collins will ever be, from a hosting perspective, and B.) there are plenty of drivers who'll take a $100K+ salary to drive supercars all day. What a bonehead.

@adamskill , if he had to give up his other career(s) while doing the show, the situation would be different, but that wasn't the case. He continued racing and doing stunt driving under his name the entire time--nobody knew he was the Stig--that's the whole point.

@toleratetruth He did 8 years of it, parking his car half a mile away and sneaking into a studio wearing a balaclava (his own words). He was away from his family for 2 months at a time, the suit isnt all comfortable either... the helmet has **** ventalation. Theres a lot more gone on behind the scenes you know.....

you need to know the facts before you point the finger at collins. He did great as the stig for 8 years now its time to pass the torch.. every dog has his day

@toleratetruth OK so compare his salary with any other top endurance driver. It's about a 10%. Would you be happy if your job was paid at 10% of what it's worth? There are indeed plenty of "drivers" who would work for that but not many high end racers.

Ben Collins, Awesome. The guy trained the SAS in how to pursuit & getaway drive, was the Stig for years & has proved to millions he can drive in ANY class. I'd like to see all those dis-believers of Ben try to do what he does, but thats where Ben is a DRIVER & to you haters your SCREW DRIVERS.
