At 3:20, he walks in to th eroom. The Star Piece badge goes "Dingalingaling", and he looks for it. Afterwards, he walks out, having completely forgotten about it. This isn't a gameplay tip, it's a reminder. (He does remember it later, I think.)

If you don't jump, Mario spins on the spot briefly after his spin is done. Jumping makes Mario skip that part, so allows for faster movement.
