Jesus in Matthew 16 establish his church by giving Peter, and his successors the keys of the kingdom.

The facts of Catholic Dogma can be traced to the words of Christ, which is like at the beginning of the dogma. Christ says in Matthew 16:18 that hell has no chance against the Church's teachings. In John 16:13 he gives the Church power to declare what is sin or not. In John 20:23 Jesus declares that the Holy Spirit will lead the Church into ALL truth...not some truth. Those are facts of what Christ declared about the Church, and they have always been part of the Church's dogma.
