Anybody see the film? It only played in New Orleans(hometown) for about a week. the book took a Pulitzer prize and I think it's one of Cormac McCarthy's best.
McCarthy is the finest living American author , in my humble opinion.
The book is phenomenal. For a Cormac novel, it's very quick to get through and compelling as well. Don't expect a lot of answers however, and prepare yourself for heavy symbolism and interpretation for your essay. Enjoy!
cannot wait for this movie. read the book and prayed that a visionary director would bring this to the big screen but its very dissappointing to not have a trailer so soon before a November release date. everytime I google this movie I get some news blip about Nick Cave doing the score....WHO THE HELL CARES?!?!?! when did Nick F'n Cave become the next Hans Zimmer of movie scores?!?! show us some damn scenes from this movie!!!
Hey, I was a Grip on the real film "The Road" with Viggo and Kodi. We shot it here in Pennsylvania, which offended locals(because it was sposed to look so bad and desolate). So it was kinda neat to see a teens vision of such a powerful book. Good Stuff.
There's alot of good critique here, soak it in and keep shooting. Good Luck. .
Nice, where did you get the music from? It was really good music. By the way, the guy with the fake beardand glasses made me laugh so much when I saw him. XD
The pacing is done fantastically in this. The non-diagetic elements come in at exactly the right time. The problem comes in when your characters come in. Even the establishing shot with the one man walking towards the camera just has awkward body language. And the kid with the beard made me laugh. I'd say it would have been a good idea to stick solely with the scenery as you did a pretty good job with it. And if you had to put people in, where is the cart? It's not "The Road" without the cart.
The commercial was good up until about the fake beard. That completely ruined any atmosphere or interest I had in it. Terrible fucking beard. But very good filming locations.
Good on ya for loving a Great book and working to capture that on video! Not the most accurate depiction ever, but hey at least you loved a great book! Keep up coming, bro :)
LoL... Kudos for making a video... but i think you need to go back to the text. The Road tells of a country where EVERYTHING is dead... no living plants, animals scarce... and the sky has a layer of ash remaining from the apocalyptic event. Think cloudy skies. :) but kudos nonetheless.
oh wow terrible, just terrible

So wait, did your high school English class read the book in class?
If so...you should be hugging your English teacher...he/she is sweet.

I wish. I read it on my own. I heard a lot of good things about it so I picked it up.

yeah. i didn't like the beard that much either. but he wouldn't shoot the scene without it.
Thanks for the locations part. It didn't turn out exactly as planned

I was somewhat surprised. It worked quite well considering.
Shot very well.
