Shishmaref and Newtok should like come together and make there own community somewhere else because the land they live on will probably be gone in the next decade.
For those interested, please don't take my word on anything. Google for "Clear Climate Code". You can obtain the source code and the raw data, for free. Plot the data yourself. Choose your favored subset of monitoring stations. You can plot them by region, plot different randomly chosen stations, plot only urban stations, plot only rural stations. See what you get. Here's a hint. If you plot a statistically significant number of stations, you'll see the same amount and rate of warming.
The problem with the climate stations is that many are located in places that are built out like parking lots, etc which is inherently hotter than a park, which gives misleading information.
@Twilightifyable No, there is no such problem. As I just pointed out, you can get the station data and you can plot it yourself. You can remove stations you think don't provide good data. The scientists already rank the stations on data quality, if you disagree, remove the stations you don't think are valid. A denialist website identifies a couple hundred stations they felt gave bad data. They don't show the re-plot without those stations because it shows the same amount and rate of warming.
I have little desire to double check John R. Christy's work. I will point out that if his work was bad or based on bad data the Illuminati would have had him discredited long ago to support their outlandish global warming alarmism. Global Warming Alarmism is about redistributing wealth of rich countries to poorer countries. Why don't you take some time and look at Christy's work. The atmosphere accounts for 90% of cllimate. watch?v=dNf3t5ggOlw
@Twilightifyable Well you don't need to double check his work, he did and he found that he was mistaken. Exactly how many times do you plan on changing the subject? I pointed out that Christy made an error and admits it. You change the topic to weather stations. I address the weather station issue and now you want to change the subject to taxation and politics. Politics does not change the evidence. The evidence is what it is.
I just read about it. He acknowledges that there must be some impact anthroponically speaking of climate change on the earth, but it's inconceivable to make predictions 100 years out. He stated that "plants love what we do with carbon". I believe John Christy is a true scientist so he won't neglect his findings he made with weather balloon and satellite data. Therefore, unless you can find another source, he will stick by his climate change is NOT CATASTROPHIC position.
The question to ask the anti-science types: What evidence or data would convince you that human caused GHG emissions are a significant driving force in current climate change? You will get one of two answers: None, in which case further discussion is a waste of time. The other answer will be silence or "I don't know", meaning they haven't a clue what valid evidence would look like. That makes their claims to be able to spot "invalid" evidence fairly ridiculous.
Leading Climate Scientist John R. Christy researched two independent data sets, weather balloon and satellite. He found from this information gathered from the bulk of the atmosphere that climate change was neither catastrophic nor anthropogenic. He also stated that increase in surface temperatures in the cities were because of pavement, concrete and structures. It’s not the result of greenhouse gases.
@Twilightifyable You've got to be kidding... right? You do know that Spencer and Christy made errors and both have admitted that, don't you? You do know that was 2005, don't you? Google for s+c msu vn5.2 and you'll find an analysis of the corrections

In a 2009 interview with Fortune Magazine about signing the 2003 American Geophysical Union (AGU) statement, he said: "As far as the AGU, I thought that was a fine statement because it did not put forth a magnitude of the warming. "
@Twilightifyable Nice. Don't admit your own error, just change the topic. You repeatedly claim that data is "doctored". I would think that with this data manipulation being so rampant that you could cite one specific case. You do know that when an error was pointed out in Mann's paper (the "hockey stick") by one of your heroes, the correction was published, don't you? You do realize the correction resulted in vary slightly *increased* warming, don't you? You have been reading the science, right?
2/2 he continues, "We just said that human effects have a warming influence, and that's certainly true. There was nothing about disaster or catastrophe. In fact, I was very upset about the latest AGU statement [in 2007]. It was about alarmist as you can get." Birger, Jon (May 14, 2009). "What if global-warming fears are overblown?". Fortune Magazine.

@Twilightifyable Appeal to authority is a logic fail. He made a mistake. Read his 2006 paper, he says: "Previously reported discrepancies between the amount of warming near the surface and higher in the atmosphere have been used to challenge the reliability of climate models and the reality of human-induced global warming... This significant discrepancy no longer exists because errors in the satellite and radiosonde data have been identified and corrected." Christy's words, not mine.
@Twilightifyable You neglect to mention something. Deniers have their own rankings of climate monitoring station data quality. When the data from their selection of "very good" or better temperature stations is graphed, it shows the same temperature increases and the same rate of warming. You can perform the same calculation yourself. The list of stations and the data from them is available to anyone. Eliminate stations you feel unreliable or randomly exclude stations. Same curve, same warming.

Can you point me to a peer-reviewed scientific journal article that shows that CO2 causes cooling? What journal was it published in? Who published it? When was it published? What volume and issue?
@patioperson Years ago the estimates of 2,000 to 4,000ppm increase were found to be in error and the actual values were more likely around +250ppm. The year was 2001 to be exact. Maybe you want to google the current science and learn that rather than take cherry picked quotes from sensationalist media websites at face value. Look for "Stability of atmospheric CO2 levels across the Triassic/Jurassic boundary" published in Nature
It wasn't so long ago when governments would have no problem destroying the world with weapons of mass destruction, now all of a sudden they want to save the planet from its climate. They intend to do it by taxing people (not really going to solve the so called problem is it?). Everybody wake up to this scam.
If volcanoes were to emit far more quantities of CO2 in our atmosphere we would be able to see spikes in marine/ice core records.. so far (to my knowledge) the Mt. Tambora eruption had an effect..

we will continue to cool until the sun comes out of this very deep minimum
carbon dioxide is very good for the planet, plants love carbon dioxide they breath it in and exhale oxygen how can a trace gas 0.038% case warming ...think about it
Carbon credits and taxing all people by the United Nations will give the UN power over the existing governments. The science community has spoken but the desired New World Order of bankers rules supreme and effects everything we hear. Look up at the chemtrails and believe these polluting poisonous planes are working with our best interests in mind.
One of the best things that you, as an individual can do, is to believe that we really have a problem and that we have the ways and means to fix that problem. When enough people clamor for change, the politicians will listen, and change will happen. Some people become activists, some don't. But we all have the opportunity to vote. And we can all help spread the word.
This needs to be the number one priority! climate change is where we need to put the majority of our resources.
I am a scientist and I disagree with the conclusions of this video. Anecdotal evidence from Inuits is not evidence of climate change. The Arctic was never cooler during the last 4-5 centuries preceding this one and yes it has gotten warmer in Northern Latitudes. It is a huge stretch to claim as this video does that there are tipping points in climate. Thoes statements are not based on rigorous scientific work and contrary to assumptions they make regarding paleo climatic conditions.
cool. so you disagree. Most of the major scientific organizations (aka not hippie rags) have said it is happening without a doubt and needs immediate action. So... we should listen to you why?
one reason that you don't see as many skeptics speaking is because they'll loose their jobs if they do. A state climatologist in Washington (or maybe Oregon) was fired after expressing his views on climate change. There's a lot more skeptics out there than people think including prestigious meteorologists like Dr. Gray at Colorado State and Joe Bastardi at accuweather.
To your credit i'd say more scientists do believe there's a problem at hand but the mainstream media crushes skepticism
**I am a scientist and I disagree with the conclusions**
I'm a Scientist and disagree not only with AGW theory, but the BELIEF giving the UN taxing powers,Cap &trade, and/or taxes to "explore alternative Energy sources" will actually do anythig
Governments do not Invent, innovate,or create, people do
The Power of government to tax is the power to destroy life, liberty,& the pursuit of happiness not "create it"
Come on they just raise the tax on Oil,gas, liquir and cigarettes
HAHAHAHAHA. i'm crying here. it's -40 degree windchill in wisconsin right now. I wish global warming was actually a bigger problem so it would be warmer here.
Yes CO2 levels is around 380 ppm now but it used to be around 280 before we started burning fossil fuels in enormous amounts every day. CO2 is a very powerful greenhouse gas. What do you think our temperature would be without greenhouse gases? It would be 33C (59F) lower than it is now. What do you think happens when we increase the CO2 level with 35%? Please think about it. Don't just say humans can't be doing it.
I believe the world is heading toward crisis with our leaders, they become untrustworthy with there own agenda and self interest. In the light of global warming, the energy crisis and mass extinction, we need to find a neutral supporter someone that could unite mankind CHECK OUT- FLY A PREYER FLAG
to iuwolf, why do you think it is the responsibility of someone else to get you educated? Go out and answer the questions you have yourself. That way you can't make any excuses on not knowing enough to make up your mind!
I have done hours of investigation myself, looking at research on both sides of the argument, and I have not yet found anyone make a compelling argument that human produced CO2 is causing "global warming".
If what they are saying is true, show me "hard science", and don't tell me there is a so-called consensus. A consensus is not science.
There are many answers if you look for them. Yes water vapour is a greenhouse gas,
but it forms rain and comes out of the atmosphere. CO2 does not, it stays
there until bound in vegetation. We would have to plant more trees than can fit the earth's
landmass before we get down to the CO2 level we had before 1970. You must understand that the amount of carbon that is currently in the atmosphere was bound by vegetation
for millions of years in oil. Watch the video "Mechanics of GCC (pt 1 of 3)"

AAAS is in the stage where they've stopped wondering whether there is GW, and now thinking about how to act on it. Hence it views it from the second angle - how to educate young people about it, and live sustainably.

global warming and cap and trade is a scam the earth has been cooling for the last 9 years
record ice levels in Antarctica and the arctic is at the 1979-2000 mean there is no tipping point
we will continue to cool until the sun comes out of this very deep minimum
carbon dioxide is very good for the planet, plants love carbon dioxide they breath it in and exhale oxygen how can a trace gas 0.038% case warming ...think about it

Ignorant people post comments that contradict the conclusion of the biggest science org in the world AAAS because they saw something in the TV.

Same here

cool. so you disagree. Most of the major scientific organizations (aka not hippie rags) have said it is happening without a doubt and needs immediate action. So... we should listen to you why?

aka not hippie rags
There is a difference?

one reason that you don't see as many skeptics speaking is because they'll loose their jobs if they do.

Less AGW yet?

Climate change can't happen without loosing our existing economies.
Climate change is inevitable, and requires the loss of about 30% of existing Earth's population.
This causes various planetary "instabilities".
You make the next sentence:...

Good video. Simple and clear. That's the way such subject should be presented to the public.
For similar subject search in Youtube: "Climate Disruption - What do we know and should do" (lecture by John Holdren).

I like this vid because it doesn't just show sad cases, but has a solution - which is education.

HAHAHAHAHA. i'm crying here. it's -40 degree windchill in wisconsin right now. I wish global warming was actually a bigger problem so it would be warmer here.

Man couldn't change the weather, if he wanted to! CO2 has nothing to do with it! THere si only 0.00037% of it in the air.

CO2 gas actually been proven to be one of the weaker greenhouse gases, far less powerful than methane or water vapor.

Watch the video "Mechanics of GCC (pt 1 of 3)"

thank you for that answer.? how much methane is in the ocean as well as permafrost..

This video is full of fluff about how human / CO2 emissions are causing global warming.
If this is really happening and there is "so much science" please explain more than "CO2 is a greenhouse gas".
Water vapor is a greenhouse gas too. What about solar raidiation? What about previous warm periods?
So many questions, so few answers.

AAAS is in the stage where they've stopped wondering whether there is GW, and now thinking about how to act on it. Hence it views it from the second angle - how to educate young people about it, and live sustainably.
If you want the real science, the best bet is the peer-reviewed articles on their website.

Do some research on your own, trolling youtube comments is not a good place to get your answers.

yet they never mention how eating meat is also causing global warming
