I think the summery in the description is WRONG I think Rin and Miku were friends as kids but then they became rivals Rin and Miku both fell in live with Len who told both of them that he would take them away somewhere but he leaves and never comes back then Miku gets depressed and dies of sadness leaving poor Rin all alone so Rin still waits for Len that will probably never come back (there is a sequel to this song called "Dark Love Tower" or "Koiyamaru"

Rin and Miku make a promise to live together when they were young because they were both orphans. In this time, Rin fell in love with Miku (she refers to herself falling for the beautiful blossom and that if they're both in love they should be happy) at the same time Miku fell in love with Len. Len says he'll take Miku away from the ophan-like place they live at, however, Miku and Rin now live at different houses. The beautiful blossom then dies, referring to Miku, and Rin is now all alone.

One of the interesting things about this song is how Rin and Miku might not be so miserable if they hadn't met Len. He was untrustworthy and broke them apart. Had he never shown up, they would've still had each other to rely on. Or even if they just realized that having trustworthy friends is more important than your love for some guy you hardly know. What makes this so tragic is that it could've been happy, and it's their own faults it isn't.

Then they both fall for Len, who's a player. He promises to help Miku out and get her out out of her situation. Rin ends her friendship with Miku out of jealousy. Len never returns and both of them are miserable. The end.

The way I see it, the one who sang is both Miku and Rin, where Miku wait for Ren to return and Rin who wait for Miku.

They made vow with each other as friend and never to be parted but the promise was broken.

Whereas Ren made a quite similar promise to Miku but he betrayes her.

So I guess the promise and the waiting was done by both Rin and Miku.

I think that since Rin loves Len, she is waiting for him and pretended that the words meant for Miku that she overheard that day were meant for her (no, not insanity, just wishful thinking). And maybe because Miku is dead, Rin thinks might Len might come for her instead?

I actually think that Rin is waiting for multiple things.
