terrible music to put with this fight..........silence or commentary would be much better than some pop bullshit............is she singing .......pretty faces in the war? fuckin another stupid artist with even dumber lyrics........great fight............TERRIBLE MUSIC.........BIG THUMB DOWN
Although there are numerous amazing moments to analyse in this fight, take a good look at this one:
At around 6.08 minutes into the vid Moore slips off the ropes after Marciano was pressing him, Marciano follows, and Moore is back-peddling and countering,
now check out the amazingly fluid sneaky left punch thrown by Moore at about 6.14 in the vid, I am convinced that left would have floored most opponents!
@MrRwhiteak haha, i forgot about this comment. you have brightened my day!!! and that's difficult to do, since i'm already about to play Skyward Sword...and since I've been watching Fus Ro Dah videos all day
@toby099 i agree they were old or 2nd stringers, tho he no doubt was a really great fighter.louis moore walcot all old...over the hill old.let him fight lennox prime, mike prime....joe louis 17 years younger would have been much different.
To bad there lying saying that Rocky Marciano was never beaten. HE GOT BEAT BY COLEY WALLACE!!!!! THE MEDIA LIES....not trying to sound racist but the white media back then wanted to make it known that the "white man" was unbeatable, and coerced people into believing it by shunning the facts. Make sure you look up COLEY WALLACE if you dont believe me.
"Marciano's knockout blow packs more explosive energy than an armour-piercing bullet and represents as much energy as would be required to spot lift 1000 pounds one foot off the ground."
That is for everyone who is denying Rocky Marciano's skill and greatness. Any boxer to DATE would not get up from that power.
@FoxyBomb I actually provided that nitwit,RayPFP, with the links to the info you have quoted. Even the link where Frank Bruno was tested in the 1980's. Bruno measured 800ft lbs and came out ahead of big Geirge for one punch power. Tyson was 3rd, behind Foreman. These nitwits just don't understand the kind of wallup Marciano possessed, they think size is everything. Like you said, any one who gets hit by that punch - regardless of size - goes down and stays down!
Rocky was known for never ducking a fight. He wasnt classy or a dancer but he owned the most devestating right in boxing history.Eventually it caught up with you no-matter how long they all tried to avoid it.9 consecutive knock-outs before the end of the 1st round.Even Tyson said it was a "hammer"."Eventually it found its home".
I never considered Marciano the best so I didn’t quite realize how difficult it is to estimate how he’d flare vrs other generation’s best. The main approach of Rocky is brawler/bomber, which means Marciano will always pose an intriguing debate, always the guy with the bomber’s chance from first till last round.
This fight vrs Archie Moore says it all: no rest-no breather or “ya wanna pick and choose your punches, that’s fine, but in the meantime take another 10 shots while you’re waiting”.
So if we are hypothetically matching Marciano with any other fighter with the same size and/or style, it’s most likely to be up for grabs way more than we can accurately say Marciano gets destroyed or beat every time.
For ex: Frazier. I love Frazier’s style, but exactly what gives Frazier any decisive edge? the fact that Frazier would duck n bob n weave n stalk n hunt n get inside? the fact that Frazier is a beast, got heart, a pair of clubs for fists?
these are the same things we can say about Marciano. The point is any difference that gives either an edge over the other is too small to accurately predict one would consistently beat the other.
The same would go for Tyson, unless of course you think Tyson was a fraud all together, which can be fairly debated!
“Tyson would weave and before Marciano knew it Boom Tyson uppercuts Marciano” except every time Tyson weaves he takes one in the gut, plus Marciano also likes to uppercut.
Maybe it’s really simple: who here feels comfortable coming at Marciano? Is that really a smart game plan? If you didn’t have too why would you want to fight Marciano on the inside? Hell no.
So Tyson is in the same hypothetical as Frazier, all would be great up for grabs fights.
The debates become more complicated for contrasting styles vrs Marciano. For ex: Larry Holmes for great balance of size and speed or Foreman for sheer size and strength
(would hulking over Marciano be the difference maker?), or of course Ali counter stick n move.
For me, although amazing in its own right, a hypothetical of Ali vs Marciano is not the most telling simply because we have seen many versions of the boxer vs the brawler, but just maybe what is equally intriguing is the smaller brawler vs the bigger brawler, a kind of David n Goliath of the same styles: Foreman vs Marciano, the battle of the sledge-hammers!
I totally know what you mean. You can dance and finesse and pick-apart Marciano early, even knock him down, but when he doesn't stay down it kind of seems that all you have left is to out-box him and hope to go the distance and win by decision.
I grew up studying and believing a style like A. Moore is better than a brawler, but simply put, Marciano reminds us that a relentless tank is one tough machine, lol
@andy59tube Yeah but the Rock fought in the weakest era in boxing history. All the so called heavies were mostly old former middleweights. A 38 year champ in Walcott? Weak ,weak era. There are numerous fighters that could of went unbeaten in Rocks era. He's n ot special. Evander,Tyson, Ali,Louis, Foreman Liston and a host of others would accomplish that.. Most would go 50-0 after dispatching the Rock also. He was part of that weak era.
@RayPFP Here u are again! U R an annoying little twit, ya know that?!! U R on every Marciano vid disparaging the Rock bcz u can't stand the fact that he woulda clobbered ur heroes! Anyone who comes to the Marciano gets kayo'ed...period! It includes Foreman, Tyson, Frazier...all of them! He hit harder than everyone of them w/one shot, and I have provided you w/that scientifically proven info in previous posts. Ur not gonna convince anyone otherwise, dipshit, so why not just go away?!
@andy59tube Can't look at it that way. Suppose Marciano had to fight Evander, Lennox Lewis, Buster Douglas or Larry Holmes, Frazier 3 times, Norton 3 times>?Does Marciano go unbeaten? I can answer that quick. Hell No! Marciano had to come from behind to beat old small ex middles and Lt heavies. Well in Moores case ,, a former welter. What former welter ever dropped Ali or Tyson?. A 42 year old one at that.No Marciano 's greatest win was over a used up Louis. Ali, Tyson go unbeaten in Rocks era.
Marciano was unbeaten and beating everybody that is put in from of you is all that you can do as a fighter. But it has to be said that he never fought any big guys - he only defended his tile once against a guy that was over 200lbs (and the guy was only over 200lbs because he had a gland condition)
He would have beaten Patterson and Johansson but would have lost to Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes and Tyson. He would have had a 50/50 chance against a prime Joe Louis though.
That's weird - I was thinking almost the same thing just after I posted the comment. SL had the size obviously and a huge reach advantage. But he wasn't technical enough to be able to use that reach to keep RM at a distance and if it came to inside fighting SL's reach would be a handicap. Both hit very hard but they way they power punched was different (Frazier vs Foreman is a close analogy). RM did have more heart than SL but was prone to bad cuts - I'm still 50/50 on this one.
In my opinion Ali and Tyson and Frazier would have stopped Marciano in their prime. Had Marciano carried on fighhting a few more years, he would have encountered the up and coming Patterson and Liston. Don Cockell battled bravely and even the aging Louis, Moore, Walcott gave Marciano problems. Rocky was no classic fighter by any stretch of imagination, he was a battler and vulnerable to sucker punches.

How does a guy who weighs 185 pounds soak and wet beat Mike Tyson? How can a guy who,at the time was 34-0 when he faced Appllegate a 11- 14 , a complete tomato can and couldn't put a dent in him ,supposed to hurt a prime Tyson? Marciano couldn'[t hurt a fighter like 177 pound Lowry , a guy with a subpar record, a tomato can.Rock couldn't hurt 86 Tyson. Tyson was far to quick and explosive for a slow crusier like Marciano. Tyson would out weight Marciano by 30 or more pounds.gets ko via 2nd/
@RayPFP Yeah Marciano is overrated. His best opposition were past their prime fighters such as 37 year old Joe Louis, 41 year old Moore, 39 year old Walcott, 33 year old Ezzard Charles, and all 4 men gave Marciano trouble. Not to mention Ted Lowry a man with a 66-67 career record beat him in their first fight, of course Lowry was robbed. People at ring side scored the fight 6-4 Lowry, one of the reasons why it is believed Marciano was mobbed up. His manager had close ties with the mob, FACT.
@RayPFP You're talking about boxing as if everything comes down to weight. Yes it plays a major role in boxing but to win fights you certainly do not need to weigh more than your opponent.
After Mike Tyson took 4 or 5 blows to his arms from Rocky who hit as hard as a high caliber rifle, Tyson would have lost strength in his punches. Nobody, according to Ferdie Pacecho, takes a shot flush on the jaw from Rocky and makes it. Rocky would have put Tyson down. Tyson never won a fight in which he was floored. So, logic goes with the brockton blockbuster. Sorry fans, it's Rocky with a KO in 5.
@triggert531 Yeah but on the otherhand look who Tyson was getting dropped by and look who the Rock was being dropped by.Tyson got dropped by a very tough Evander Holyfield and a huge skilled Buster Douglas on a mission.Douglas was 6 4 240 and 31 ,while Tyson was onyl 5 11 216. Walcott was a small heavy at 6 0 190 and was also an old man at 38. Moore was a former welter who was far past him prime when he faced the Rock and dropped him. So the Rock was dropped by 2 small old guys.
Tenia mejores cualidades. Tu crees que Marciano pudiera haberle ganado a Holyfield or Lennox Lewis?

Andá a estudiar!.- Arrivederchi!
@XxAshMorningstarxX who gives a shit when it comes to a faggot ass homo from argentina that talks like a fucking reatrd. the reason i spoke english is because you talk like a queer in spanish.
Rocky was the hardest hitter EVER in the heavyweight division....for you that have never been hit....trust me when I say. When you get hit by someone like Marciano, you aren't able to function like you normally would. He drew everyone to him in the ring with his style. Walcott and even a reluctant Moore admitted he hit harder than anyone they ever fought. Tyson would have folded like a bitch with Rocky....as soon as Tyson would have gotten hit by Rocky....his heart would have been gone.
Prime Tyson wold have Killed Marciano. His defense was poor. Leading with his head to defend? Tyson would have stepped to the side and deliver a body shot followed by an uppercut.
Rocky cocked his punches, his arms were VERY short and he was slow. Tyson would outweigh him by nearly 40 pounds.
@ghns1133 Were they? Tyson's arms were actually regular size in length. What made his arms look short was the mass. Also, its no secret that Rockys arms were shorter than normal. Not trying 2 bash Rocky, but the video actually points out more mistakes than positives. Rocky left his head wide open when dodging punches. Fighters like Tyson, who were known for accuracy and power in both hands, could cause Rocky problems. if anyone wants to have a freindly debate on this feel free to contact me.
@khaliamoon To make my point we can use this video. Again, I'm not bashing Rocky. He is one of the greatest but to compare him 2 the more accomplished fighters would be absurd considering his size & weight compared 2 the fighters not even 10 years after his time. If you view the film objectively (and any Rocky fight) you will see that, with proper technique and power, Rocky would have never had a 49-0 record. Any boxing purist would pick Rocky's flaws like daisies.
@khaliamoon i never doubted that rockys arms werent short but mikes are for sure. your right that the mass of them makes them look shorter but he has a 71 inch reach and i would have probably been somthing like 68" (like rocky) if his shoulders werent as wide as a house. i think tyson would have a speed size and skill advantage but rocky was a tough mofo and if he survied the early storm tyson would get discouraged even prime tyson would get discouraged. but i said if :)
Archie was a great fighter, but just could not beat the Rock.I watched Archie many times back in the old days .He beat everybody's brains out but could not beat Marciano, neither could any any body else.Marciano only weighed 186 pounds but consistently beat much larger fighters.Forty eight fights forty eight wins most by knock out.
@frnesbit Moore wasn't a nat ural heavy. He began career at welter. Marciano had a ten year age advantage.10 years means a lot in boxing. What bigger prime greats did he beat?
@RayPFP WTF? You appear in every Marciano forum just to talk shit about the guy? Is that your life's purpose? Reason for living? Hobby?. Anyways, if you hate Marciano so much why the f**** do you watch the videos. Same goes for PUGCAT.
That was a fun night with my old man. We used to go to the Gardens to watch wrestling with Gene Kiniski, Don Leo Jonathan and poor old Bud Rittell on the undercard. But there wasn't much boxing in those days ... especially not with a legend. Thanks for the reply.
Archie comes once a life time. Rocky just broke you down, Theres a great clip of Acrhie talking about Marciano and how he would beat you, he said as the rounds progressed you were expecting rocky to get tiered, but he would just pressure you, over and over to the point were you make a mistake and drop your hands that one second and would land his short punches generating leverage.
What impressive most, is the incredible pressure and resistance of Marciano. And the power of his punch, the right hock is like a cannonball. Ask in my self: what kind of hearth have him??. Wherever is clear if that boxing are very old. So, the question is: what appened if Marciano meet someone like Mike Tyson.. But i think also if that question is uncorrectly becouse theirs living in a different time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
"I'm convinced that no heavyweight; past or present, would have been wise to stand and trade punches with Rocky Marciano."
Archie Moore
In a 1980 interview that he had given to Boxing Illustrated, concerning his title fight with Rocky Marciano. He included the likes of Liston, Frazier, and Foreman in the context of his above statement.
I saw Archie Moore fight once, no big deal if you live in a major American city but in faraway Vancouver when I was a boy it was something. Actually it was more of sparring session than a fight but it was a pleasure to see that old wizard move. Wish I could have seen Ali from front row center.
If someone wanted to be a boxer they should try to mimic what they see starting at 2:02. Rocky Marciano is masterful, the way he bobs and weaves and throws bombs!
In boxing you need more then speed you need power and a jaw made out of steel and the secret ingredients to go along with those are HEART AND NEVER QUIT= ROCKY MARCIANO= 49-0= GREATEST EVER SON
No let up ever from Rocky...thats what made Rocky the best ever...Moore had huge guns and as you get older you don't lose your power..Rocky took the best Moore had and gave better...Rocky will always be the best because he never quits
2 great fighters really going for it but you cant help but feel for Archie, look at his face at 3:26..his expression says it all, its like hes saying "jesus this guys just relentless" classic fight.
Probably one of the most intensive boxing matches of all time. In the eighth round both of the boxers were standing toe to toe and really mixing it up for a long time. Archie Moore was never a slouch anyway and Rocky Marciano really had his work cut
out for him trying to put Archie Moore on the canvas. You rarely see anything like
this nowadays as far as pure punching and raw power, but you have to admit that this is some classic footage of two of the world's greatest boxing legends.
Archie was game but took a lot of punishment in the 7th 8th and finally knocked out in the 9th. Marciano was in tremendous shape for this bout and there was no quit in the guy. Archie was a great light heavyweight champion.
@Caxton1488 Archie was tough as hell because he had to be. He came up during the depression and had to hitchhike to his fights with a broomhandle and bundle over his shoulder until he made enough money to travel normally.
@robert18x5 Hey there brain dead,... did you notice the comments here have been posted in "English". Get any hint from that? Perhaps most here dont speak or write in Spanish? Comprendo? Hell, why not have some Norwegian comments to help further screw things up.
"Show me a fighter whose undefeated and I'll show you a fighter who hasn't fought anybody." --Whitey Bimstein, legendary boxing trainer. Rocky never lost because he never fought a GREAT fighter. Some may say Joe Louis and Archie Moore, but both of them were way past their prime. Rocky Marciano may be the most overrated boxer in boxing history.
I believe Archie was old at this time, Rocky was fighting a legend on the way out and look at Archie go. Like any boxer that goes without a loss in his career he's a fraud. Great fighters eventually lose b/c the reality is no one is perfect, and if u have a perfect record at the end of ur career it just says u were always taking the ez road. Archie had over 100 career fights with over 100 wins and I think like 5 losses that mostly came at the end of his career. That's a warrior even if he lost.
@POTATER1228 I got 2 better ones Fuck you in your fucking dreams lol what happen with buster was the downfall of mike with lots of problems, anyway prime Tyson destroy everyone ...
@Martinezl1l Yeah. His prime ended when he was 24, Tyson was ancient by that time. Champs win fights, chumps make excuses. Saying Tyson lost cuz he had problems and refused to train is like saying, you didnt finish college because you didnt go to class. No one's gonna buy that excuse. Larry Holmes and Ali fought people younger than them and won, and had every excuse to lose, but came out on top. Tyson had every reason to cream Douglas, but ended up flat on his back.Prime Tyson couldnt KO Tillis
@POTATE Check the film: Buster got a s l o w count when Mike knocked him down. Fight should've been over. Mike's got no heart & can't win from behind. Stupidity & ego caused him give up his excellent defense & combinations to become a glorified brawler, BUT: If rules were followed, he'd already have won this fight before he lost it.
@lazur1 No, the person who came up with "long count" excuse was Don King? Why listen to the man who ruined Tyson, is a cheat, and MURDERED two people. Yes the count is long, but the count is equal for both people, they both got the SAME amount of time to get up. Mike couldnt, but Buster was fresh. and the "rules to be followed" are "the ref is the ultimate authority in the ring, and gives a ten count" Notice "count" not Secs/ The ref can count how he likes as long as there is NO BIAS
@lazur1, the rules were followed. The referee said 'nine' and Douglas was up. He beat the count, Tyson didn't, simple as that. It's the referee's count which matters and is final, absolutely nobody elses. No counts are ever exactly 10 seconds, as it's a human process. Tyson got beat. Deal with it.
@Prologicful Now you're the one imagining. Imagining that a prime Marciano beating a 39yr old man who has already been in nearly 180 professional bouts as some great accomplishment is garbage. Marciano was even knocked down in this bout. Now let's imagine if Moore fought other greats such as Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Patterson, Ali, etc., would he hurt them? No. Would he last 9 rounds? No. At this stage of his career you can't really say Moore was a great opponent.
@JeanFrenchCroissant yeah fasho he doesn't know shit about boxing archie moore is one of the greatest fighters ever marciano beat moore, walcott, charles and louis marciano was great himself.
@JeanFrenchCroissant U r absolutely right. Most of the idiots on here look at Rocky's record and claim he's the best but have no idea what they r talking about. If Rocky is the best then that means Joe Calzhage is also the best boxer ever which everyone knows that is nowhere close to reality. Archie Moore, Joe Luis, Ray Robinson were 10x the fighter then Rocky so I'm unsure how ppl could even claim that. They must not know shit about boxing.
@Prologicful Remember that there have been quite a few boxers in history that have undefeated professional records. Can you name them off the top of your head? Maybe it is not the record that makes you great, maybe its who you beat? Saying Archie Moore couldn't knock out Marciano is like saying Rocky dominated Joe Louis...
@Krang65645 Ummm, I am white. If you think he is king please explain why. Is it because he fought a lot of over the hill fighters: Louis, Charles, Walcott, etc. In order to be great you must beat great. Look at Marciano's record and please tell me where the "great" opponents are. You look at the career of Sugar Ray Robinson and you may begin to understand what the word "great" actually means. Marciano is on the cusp of being great in my opinion.
Bad boxing: No defense. They totally forgot about the other part of boxing!. Good boxers don't do that to themselves.....Julio Cesar Chavez never did that, he was very agressive, but he had also a very good defense; not for nothing he defeated 107 oponents....knocking out 87 of them!..
terrible music to put with this fight..........silence or commentary would be much better than some pop bullshit............is she singing .......pretty faces in the war? fuckin another stupid artist with even dumber lyrics........great fight............TERRIBLE MUSIC.........BIG THUMB DOWN

Although there are numerous amazing moments to analyse in this fight, take a good look at this one:
At around 6.08 minutes into the vid Moore slips off the ropes after Marciano was pressing him, Marciano follows, and Moore is back-peddling and countering,
now check out the amazingly fluid sneaky left punch thrown by Moore at about 6.14 in the vid, I am convinced that left would have floored most opponents!
unbelievable, Rocky absorbs it.
crawlFace 3 weeks ago
@crawlFace
Watch closely, respectfully Rocky does need a few moments to shake off that shot, and then at about 6.23 in vid...
floors Moore instead. Wow.
The bell rings right after, and who here can’t imagine what’s going through Moore’s head as his corner hurries him to sit down and rest.
Much respect to A. Moore, most fighters would have sold-out convinced that the war and toll on their bodies just isn’t worth it.

FoxyBomb 6 months ago

Count22 6 months ago
I never considered Marciano the best so I didn’t quite realize how difficult it is to estimate how he’d flare vrs other generation’s best. The main approach of Rocky is brawler/bomber, which means Marciano will always pose an intriguing debate, always the guy with the bomber’s chance from first till last round.
This fight vrs Archie Moore says it all: no rest-no breather or “ya wanna pick and choose your punches, that’s fine, but in the meantime take another 10 shots while you’re waiting”.
crawlFace 7 months ago
@crawlFace
So if we are hypothetically matching Marciano with any other fighter with the same size and/or style, it’s most likely to be up for grabs way more than we can accurately say Marciano gets destroyed or beat every time.
For ex: Frazier. I love Frazier’s style, but exactly what gives Frazier any decisive edge? the fact that Frazier would duck n bob n weave n stalk n hunt n get inside? the fact that Frazier is a beast, got heart, a pair of clubs for fists?
crawlFace 7 months ago
@crawlFace
these are the same things we can say about Marciano. The point is any difference that gives either an edge over the other is too small to accurately predict one would consistently beat the other.
The same would go for Tyson, unless of course you think Tyson was a fraud all together, which can be fairly debated!
“Tyson would weave and before Marciano knew it Boom Tyson uppercuts Marciano” except every time Tyson weaves he takes one in the gut, plus Marciano also likes to uppercut.
crawlFace 7 months ago
@crawlFace
For ex: Larry Holmes for great balance of size and speed or Foreman for sheer size and strength
crawlFace 7 months ago
@crawlFace
(would hulking over Marciano be the difference maker?), or of course Ali counter stick n move.
For me, although amazing in its own right, a hypothetical of Ali vs Marciano is not the most telling simply because we have seen many versions of the boxer vs the brawler, but just maybe what is equally intriguing is the smaller brawler vs the bigger brawler, a kind of David n Goliath of the same styles: Foreman vs Marciano, the battle of the sledge-hammers!
crawlFace 7 months ago
@crawlFace much as i like rocky id be unsure about the earlier rounds to be honest, round 7 onwards i think his stamina would carry him thru
bojack335 3 weeks ago
@bojack335
I totally know what you mean. You can dance and finesse and pick-apart Marciano early, even knock him down, but when he doesn't stay down it kind of seems that all you have left is to out-box him and hope to go the distance and win by decision.
I grew up studying and believing a style like A. Moore is better than a brawler, but simply put, Marciano reminds us that a relentless tank is one tough machine, lol
crawlFace 3 weeks ago
@andy59tube Yeah but the Rock fought in the weakest era in boxing history. All the so called heavies were mostly old former middleweights. A 38 year champ in Walcott? Weak ,weak era. There are numerous fighters that could of went unbeaten in Rocks era. He's n ot special. Evander,Tyson, Ali,Louis, Foreman Liston and a host of others would accomplish that.. Most would go 50-0 after dispatching the Rock also. He was part of that weak era.
RayPFP 7 months ago
@RayPFP Here u are again! U R an annoying little twit, ya know that?!! U R on every Marciano vid disparaging the Rock bcz u can't stand the fact that he woulda clobbered ur heroes! Anyone who comes to the Marciano gets kayo'ed...period! It includes Foreman, Tyson, Frazier...all of them! He hit harder than everyone of them w/one shot, and I have provided you w/that scientifically proven info in previous posts. Ur not gonna convince anyone otherwise, dipshit, so why not just go away?!
strictlycomments 7 months ago
RayPFP 7 months ago
Marciano was unbeaten and beating everybody that is put in from of you is all that you can do as a fighter. But it has to be said that he never fought any big guys - he only defended his tile once against a guy that was over 200lbs (and the guy was only over 200lbs because he had a gland condition)
He would have beaten Patterson and Johansson but would have lost to Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes and Tyson. He would have had a 50/50 chance against a prime Joe Louis though.
TheSmithDorian 7 months ago
@TheSmithDorian Not sure about Liston, he had not heart and Rocky had a lionheart
mariosuck 7 months ago
@mariosuck

RayPFP 9 months ago
@RayPFP Yeah Marciano is overrated. His best opposition were past their prime fighters such as 37 year old Joe Louis, 41 year old Moore, 39 year old Walcott, 33 year old Ezzard Charles, and all 4 men gave Marciano trouble. Not to mention Ted Lowry a man with a 66-67 career record beat him in their first fight, of course Lowry was robbed. People at ring side scored the fight 6-4 Lowry, one of the reasons why it is believed Marciano was mobbed up. His manager had close ties with the mob, FACT.

No contest.
khaliamoon 9 months ago
@khaliamoon tyson arms were short as hell to.
ghns1133 9 months ago
@ghns1133 Were they? Tyson's arms were actually regular size in length. What made his arms look short was the mass. Also, its no secret that Rockys arms were shorter than normal. Not trying 2 bash Rocky, but the video actually points out more mistakes than positives. Rocky left his head wide open when dodging punches. Fighters like Tyson, who were known for accuracy and power in both hands, could cause Rocky problems. if anyone wants to have a freindly debate on this feel free to contact me.
khaliamoon 9 months ago
@khaliamoon To make my point we can use this video. Again, I'm not bashing Rocky. He is one of the greatest but to compare him 2 the more accomplished fighters would be absurd considering his size & weight compared 2 the fighters not even 10 years after his time. If you view the film objectively (and any Rocky fight) you will see that, with proper technique and power, Rocky would have never had a 49-0 record. Any boxing purist would pick Rocky's flaws like daisies.

@khaliamoon Boxing purists can suck my cock!
bismarck1234561 7 months ago
@khaliamoon i never doubted that rockys arms werent short but mikes are for sure. your right that the mass of them makes them look shorter but he has a 71 inch reach and i would have probably been somthing like 68" (like rocky) if his shoulders werent as wide as a house. i think tyson would have a speed size and skill advantage but rocky was a tough mofo and if he survied the early storm tyson would get discouraged even prime tyson would get discouraged. but i said if :)

Probably one of the most intensive boxing matches of all time. In the eighth round both of the boxers were standing toe to toe and really mixing it up for a long time. Archie Moore was never a slouch anyway and Rocky Marciano really had his work cut

@1899sharkey thanks. Tyson is a great fighter, but I hate it when people excuse him for his losses.
POTATER1228 1 year ago
@Martinezl1l Tyson hardly makes the top 10 greatest HW's.
apestaartje321 1 year ago
@POTATE Check the film: Buster got a s l o w count when Mike knocked him down. Fight should've been over. Mike's got no heart & can't win from behind. Stupidity & ego caused him give up his excellent defense & combinations to become a glorified brawler, BUT: If rules were followed, he'd already have won this fight before he lost it.
lazur1 10 months ago
@lazur1 No, the person who came up with "long count" excuse was Don King? Why listen to the man who ruined Tyson, is a cheat, and MURDERED two people. Yes the count is long, but the count is equal for both people, they both got the SAME amount of time to get up. Mike couldnt, but Buster was fresh. and the "rules to be followed" are "the ref is the ultimate authority in the ring, and gives a ten count" Notice "count" not Secs/ The ref can count how he likes as long as there is NO BIAS
POTATER1228 10 months ago
@lazur1, the rules were followed. The referee said 'nine' and Douglas was up. He beat the count, Tyson didn't, simple as that. It's the referee's count which matters and is final, absolutely nobody elses. No counts are ever exactly 10 seconds, as it's a human process. Tyson got beat. Deal with it.

combine the hardest punch and the biggest heart you make rocky marciano
Dar1692 1 year ago 2
@CptBoomsdick
Yes, you have to imagine someone beating Marciano BECAUSE HE NEVER LOST.
You can't see what's right in front of your face: Archie Moore was one of the hardest HW punchers ever, yet he couldn't knockout Marciano.
Prologicful 1 year ago
@Prologicful Now you're the one imagining. Imagining that a prime Marciano beating a 39yr old man who has already been in nearly 180 professional bouts as some great accomplishment is garbage. Marciano was even knocked down in this bout. Now let's imagine if Moore fought other greats such as Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Patterson, Ali, etc., would he hurt them? No. Would he last 9 rounds? No. At this stage of his career you can't really say Moore was a great opponent.
CptBoomstick 1 year ago
@CptBoomstick
What do you mean that at that stage, Moore wasn't a great opponent?
Moore was coming from a 21 winning streak, not losing a fight in 6 years; and KO'ing dangerous opponents like Joey Maxim and Harold Johnson.
He gave Marciano some problems, and you tell me that he wasn't a great opponent?
you are delusional

CptBoomstick 1 year ago
@Krang65645 Ummm, I am white. If you think he is king please explain why. Is it because he fought a lot of over the hill fighters: Louis, Charles, Walcott, etc. In order to be great you must beat great. Look at Marciano's record and please tell me where the "great" opponents are. You look at the career of Sugar Ray Robinson and you may begin to understand what the word "great" actually means. Marciano is on the cusp of being great in my opinion.

Check out this great up coming fighter out of Philadelphia ( Anthony Abbruzzese) and watch this other fight type Celebrity Boxing Anthony
