divine heresy are a good band, but they lack that special something. sure, they're tunes are well written, the record has excellent production, the playing and vocals are flawless... but, I just never can really get into their record. there's no passion, it sounds sterile. I know fear factory's stuff is very electronic and 'produced', but there is a passion and emotion in their music, that just isn't there in devine heresy's stuff.
They only worry about "BPM's" and only adding a minor "tasteful solo" here and there. They have no feeling behind the aggression so I would rather listen to something more interesting

The way I feel about drums is that today it is preferable to use programmed drums in the extreme up-tempo metal genre. Sure, it's nice to have a drumming "virtuoso" such as Herrera or Yeung, but it isn't really that necessary. A drum machine could do their job just as well as they could. Guitars and vocals are very individual and CANNOT be emulated by a machine.

No, I don't. Raymond is as good as it gets. Blasts are not all their is to metal. Raymond is light years ahead in terms of syncopated rhythms.

I'm not a drummer, I'm actually a vocalist & rhythm guitarist, as well as the drum programmer for my band. (we do an experimental industrial metal kind of thing with synths and not just "metal" vocals)
There are lots of great technical drummers today (Gene Hoglan, George Kollias, Brann Daillor,to name a few)

Ive been a Fear Factory fan for YEARS but recently I've gone right off fear factory. FF is my favorite band. It will be hard to judge based of the fact that Dino was in FF for like 20 years. His guitar style really hasn't changed all THAT much. But I would have to say that the guitars in DH is amazing and seeing that he is playing solos is fucking awesome. But saying that they are better than FF is a hard question for me. I just can't fuckin wait to see them play!
So WTF, is this Tommy guy in or the other guy? I like this guy Tommy Vext, good hard voice and still sounds mean when he sings clean as well.
