  • I carried a Buck 120 in the 70s and I used lemon juice to dull the finish.

    Joe Ritrovato

  • I love this knife, I modded my sheath, and rigged it up to my molle vest, this thing never dulls!

  • Just an amazing knife and it's history, with Les Stroud and th scream movies along with Bucks most selling knife, it's worth it.

  • @FantomShooter apparently I cant spell...grin....meant "LOOP"

  • unless it is some super special knife i will go with a mora 100% of the time specially price value wise. (some high end knife will top a mora ofc but not under a 100 bucks if you ask me)

  • I went to two different walmarts today just to find this knife.

    I got it.

Its going to be my hog hunting knife

  • Mine had a really nice waxed leather sheathe, and the gaurd and pommel were nickel.

  • This is the knife from Scream :)

  • wow i have this knife but it took me months to get it at walmart because everyone buys the knife i was lucky to get the last one

  • i already have a buck bantam bhw for hunting and im thinking of buying this knife should i?

  • Classic knife. I use mine for bushcraft. I originally thought that the handle would be kinda slick and hard to control, but it stays put. Nice edge retention, easy to sharpen, i got the leather sheath with mine, great quality leather sheath. For the money its hard to beat.

    Cheers, Scott.

  • and if you are too busy i completely understand i just wanted to see a review

  • dear nutnfancy why havent you done a review of the buck 110

  • great knife! i have one and i nearly killed sidney prescott with it :D

  • SUBSCRIBING!!!!!!!! :D

  • Is it full tang?

  • Great knife!! I have skinned plenty of deer with it!!

  • i ve taken mine on several canoe trips,. and have literally swam with it on my belt.never noticed the need for a drain hole and the steel has shown wonderful resistence to rusting. thanks for reviewing a knife we all can afford to own but also actually use!

  • In 1990 or so, on my way out to the west desert to shot, I stopped by a K-mart to get some ammo. They had the 119 special on sale with a nice leather sheath. I couldn't resist. It has been my favorite camp knife every since.

  • buck knives have great quality

  • @223dboy Not that great compared to benchmade and KA-Bar and some other companies.

  • @dandotreillydot42058 some kabars are trash id rather have one buck knife that will last a lot longer

  • @223dboy Is that why my granfather's KA-BAR is still kickin? His knife is like 65 years old. I love buck and they do have great quality but it just does not come close to KA-BAR or Benchmade. The Buck Hoodlum is a champ. Love that knife. It splits all the firewood I need in 10 minutes. It's also light weight.

  • @223dboy If you stick with the origional KA-BARS you will be very surprised at their quality. They will last even longer with the creton handle

  • @dandotreillydot42058 i guess ill just have to buy a newer one

  • I've used this knife for years, camping, skinning, farm work, butchering, chopping, great high-value knife. keep up the great vids nutin!! Also would LOVE a review on the gerber F.A.S.T draw, another high value folder that souls fit perfectly in ur best folders under $40 series.

  • Is this knife full tang? I really am looking for another decent FULL TANG fixed blade to add to my collection.

  • His voice is so annoying

  • @Kidwitha12gauge ur notes r annoying lol

  • this knife is very scary looking, the shine off the hilt even sends off a warning, gotten me outta trouble before

  • A note on the tactical applications: For military use, I think most people would argue the Buck is a bad choice because of the gleam of not only the blade, but also the butt cap and guard. But, in some cases, it pays to have a loud knife like that. Sometimes you want to let someone with bad intentions know exactly what you have to motivate them to rethink their intentions. I believe in the military they call it posturing

  • Does it have a full tang?

  • @1991ncw No but it is still incredibly strong

  • @1991ncw yes

  • hey nutn do you have a video of you usin the 119 special at the moment?

  • this is the best fixed blade of all time imo. it's made well! it fits every category. Hunting, camping, survival, working man's knife. etc. well everything except maybe edc. lol

  • Nutn try the Buck 120,it's a larger blade for larger people

  • means i can leagely carry this in California and im 13 to show that i can still carry it

  • I know that leather sheaths aren't better, but the only reason most nylon sheaths repel water is because of the plastic insert. I may be wrong, but the only sheaths that completely repel water are kydex.

  • @nickpprimm Nylon, being made of synthetic materials, is in itself "water resistant". Treated leather with mink oil for example, will repel water as good as plastic but will not be waterproof.

  • The BUCK 119 Special... I take it wherever I possibly can.

  • @rukonex that's what SHE said

  • @TedOfNod I'd seriously love to meet HER!

  • @fretfeeler I KNOW they make leather sheaths, but it doesnt matter if you cant buy them at walmart. And if you've actually been in the rain with cordura, nylon or whatever, you would know it doesnt dry out that quickly, especially when the water is to the point where its in your sheath.

  • @nickpprimm - Are you kidding me? Nylon is impervious to water. It repels ALL of it, and it will dry out in a matter of a few minutes, once you're OUT of the wet weather... I HAVE been outdoors with all of the materials you have mentioned, lol. I'm not sure what you're getting at, but if you live in a wet area, you should get a nylon sheath over a leather one... the leather sheath is way more stylish and awesome, but it will get screwed up in wet weather... I don't know what you're tripping on.

  • wsnt this in scream

  • @nutnfancy - BTW the false edge on top of the Bowie ("Boo E") blade design is for maximum penetration into the Cerebellum of vertebrates. Like you said, it's a very versatile design! :)

  • My version of this review: If the shit hits the fan - and you're in WAL*MART - head straight to Sporting Goods and grab a BUCK 119 Special. Best value for the money, and trustworthy design. ...Oh... and check out the Cherry wood handle version of the 119 with the brass pommel @ Bass Pro Shops, it's beautiful :)

  • @Fretfeeler - oh and it comes with the leather sheath, of course.

  • I'm a beginner blade collector (as in just starting to make the jump to quality knives and swords instead of cheap wall-hangers), and I got this as my first functional fixed blade. I've gotta say, I absolutely love it. Good quality steel from what I can tell, great cutting ability, and in my opinion, a great looking knife. To boot, mine came with a wood-reinforced leather sheath, which just adds to the appeal for me. Great review by the way :)

  • @horrorfan13666 - this is a good knife. Stick with tried and true classics like this and the KA-BAR fighting knife, then go to better steels and don't buy anything made in China. A Fallkniven F1 will be my next purchase, it's a good deal for a fantastic knife.

  • @Fretfeeler I owned a KA-BAR short tanto and not even professionals could sharpen it. KA-BAR is not the authority in knife production as far as steel quality goes.

  • @CAoperator723 - Noted... I think I'm going to get knives with better quality steel from now on, but my Buck Special is still good for some reason they must take extra care with those...

  • @Fretfeeler Its the heat treatment. Even the best Bizen blades would be shitty without proper heat treatment.

  • @CAoperator723 - Yeah I know Buck knives get a Paul Bos heat treatment (basically the same as putting a blowtorch to it 3 times carefully if I learned it correctly...), but I have had a couple lately that failed... that does not include my discontinued "Juno" folder, I have been whittling a club out of a very very hard piece of oak and it's still sharp as hell. I guess I should send back the ones that failed to Buck, they will probably replace them with their warranty.

  • @Fretfeeler Yeah metaluragy is hard to master, even the masters have trouble. The trouble with production knives is the quality of steel. If the knife is lets say .09 carbon, it will require a different heat treatment than a .10 carbon blade. Its pretty much a craps shoot with production blades unless it is supervised with a highly trained expert from slab (when it comes in from the foundry) to finished product. You can have a little leeway as far as quality goes (very good - excellent),

  • @Fretfeeler And yes, Buck will replace damaged blades as long as there is an adequate reason. Striking the knife against rebar will void the warranty for instance. Just create a belivable story if it wasnt a major malfunction due to normal use.

  • walmart does have thoes

  • Wife stabbed a haji in the stomach with this same knife when she was in Iraq. Lucky her unit actually got issued these

  • @OEFvet1986 - Your wife's unit got issued Buck 119 Specials? That's actually a good move for the U.S. economy if that's true...

  • @Fretfeeler Yes she did, i was jealous because i was a infantryman and never got a issued knife, and she was a truck driver.

  • @OEFvet1986 - That's lame, you should have been issued a KA-BAR fighting knife... or at least a Buck Special. I'm actually kind of pissed at BUCK, the $40 10pt Omni Hunter I got was fail...

  • @Fretfeeler I was in the infantry as well and was never issued a knife. Although my PL did give me a Hissatsu saying its the only knife you should ever trust to effeciently destroy the enemy. So kinda issued?

  • @CAoperator723 - that sucks. Especially infantry should always be issued a high quality knife in my opinion. It's the basic survival tool, and what sets us apart from monkeys. Although if you know how to break certain rocks the right way you really don't need a knife I guess.

  • Hey Nutnfancy, is your name Jason? Do I know you from WoW? lol...

  • Anyway their special is a lot better quality than some of their other knives. I was a BUCK guy and still am for many years but they have been failing lately with their other crap, I think I'm going to purchase a Benchmade D2 steel "Bone Collector" next, with a guthook (buck style, go figure).

  • @nutnfancy - I used to love the 420HC steel that BUCK uses and the heat treatment but after having a couple of bucks fail on me in the last week I'm thinking of getting a Benchmade "Bone Collector" with D2 steel...

  • @Fretfeeler - by the way the special didn't fail me it was one of their other designs... the omni hunter... it will NOT sharpen back up, I think they failed in the heat treatment. /sigh

  • @Fretfeeler Geez what are you doing to make knives fail? never heard of the bone collector ill check it out though.

  • @OEFvet1986 - you know what? I beat the hell out of my Omni Hunter and guess what? I got an "almost" razor edge again on it with a little work. I'm still impressed by BUCK. Don't bother with the folders, check out the fixed blade bone collector by Benchmade, if I get enough extra money I'm buying that, it's the sickest knife I have EVER seen to date, in my opinion.

  • @OEFvet1986 - I'm making a pretty Oak staff and let me tell you what, dead Oak will beat the hell out of a blade... I chopped the DEAD branch off my tree (took me 20 minutes with piece of crap Cold Steel Machete, and it was only 3" thick!). The wood is amazingly hard, but weak lengthwise. I'm gonna use some power tools on it to finish it off I think. I'm only using green Oak branches from now on for whittling. lol. Hard Oak will stop a Samurai sword. Period.

  • @Fretfeeler How heavy is oak? sounds like it would make a good hiking stick.

  • @OEFvet1986 - That's what I'm making! :) It's a mountain lion beater. lol

  • If you think about it, you could draw it pretty quickly if you put it upside down on the left side of your lbe and you can just stick a soldering iron through the plastic/nylon on the bottom and it works as a drain hole

  • @nickpprimm - Why would you need a drain hole with a nylon sheath, when nylon dries out in a few minutes and is water repellent to begin with? This knife is unaffected by water unless you throw it in the ocean and forget it. The leather sheath that you get in places other than WAL*MART also has a drain hole, by the way. Think about it.

  • We have it here in Saudi Arabia for 225 Riyals thats around 60USD but it comes with leather sheath as u said they really make a good sheath. I will buy it thanks for the good review dude.

  • could you use this knife to open a can of beans

  • Duracoat it???

  • Looks like Buck cheepened up the sheath...the old one'd were nicer.

  • @noudo25 some of them come with a nice laether sheath to

  • @noudo25

If you get it in that plastic kit from Wal-Mart etc it will come with nylon. If you get it from an outdoor store in a box it comes with the nice leather one.

  • I just found a good weapon to kill Justin Beiber with :D

  • I have had this knife for 15-20 years. No rust whatsoever. incredible for 440 (420?).

  • @mwhich50 - It's 420 HC with a special heat treatment process

  • i got this knife from canadian tire for $14.99 on sale from $29.99 =)

  • @85wifebeater

Yeah. We need a hunting knife to be "tactical." I'm sure you have much use for a tactical knife. How many "hostiles" have you taken out with your tactical knives? STFU mall ninja.

  • @85wifebeater

Yeah because we need a hunting knife for "tactical" use. What "tactical" use have you EVER gotten out of a knife? STFU mall ninja.

  • @jjyurkovich uknow people who pay attention might have noticed the dude actually covering this very subject in the god damned video.

indeed the nighthawk would be a better choice for a soldier to take to war. (apparently they have to buy their own knives :S) for the very fact that it has that black blade.

pay attention you e-tellectual basement dwelling fingerpointer.

  • @jjyurkovich just shut up

  • i have a much the same knife. . well its a buck 119 but its a leather sheeth and they put something on the blade that makes it not shiny its sick. i use it for hunting and combat/duety blade its sick. its a GREAT hand to hand knife its a fast blade

  • blood groves make the blade stronger. and makes it look cooler.

  • I got one at a big box store and was highly dissapointed when I started to hone the millmarks off the edge.Certanly not heat treated, and that is what the fuck Buck is all about isnt it?Amazes me how everything has been cheapened and we the sheeple arent supposed to notice.

  • i have a 119 special aswell for some time now and i busted my tip, grinded a new 1 on it and its oke again, sort of a down side i got a leather sheath and its loud, rattles and makes lot of noise in it,and its kinda heavy for me anyway but i am looking to upgrade it. might look at RAT or Coldsteel who knows.

  • NEW Buck knives are shit. The older steel is better and more collectible.

  • What the heck walmart do you go to that has gerbers and bucks.... Our walmarts in PA have nothing but ozark trail knives...

  • @stealthbeast if you get down to md they have buck, gerber, victorinox, leatherman, and even Kershaw!

  • @stealthbeast The WM in Milford sells Buck 119 & 110 as well as as some others. They also sell Gerber, lall in a glass case so you have to get store help.

  • @stealthbeast our walmart in pa has kershaws, gerbers, bucks check near the gun cabinet/ammo section

  • i dig leather sheats

  • very good knife i cut mesquite kindling and did not mess up the blade....

  • Comment removed

  • hey i didnt mean to leave all negative coments. i actualy like your reviews . i just thought i would give some constructive criticism.thats all

  • my dad just passes this knife down to me, its older than me and dull as can be. Ive been trying to sharpen it for a few days now but i don't have the equipment to sharpen it properly

  • I have owned this knife for 13+ years. No mods. I have used it for just about everything, at work (handyman, and licensed plumber), when i go hunting, fishing, camping to household chores... it has cut/chopped everything i have asked it too.. even some 2+ inch diameter bamboo that grows around here with fair ease. Holds a good edge dont have to sharpen to often.. never had rust spots and i owned this blade for 8 years on a island in very salty humid conditions, never oiled, just cleaned. GET ONE

  • i have this knife, my grand father bought about 200 for every one of his company and he gave one to me and i use it for everything between hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking, love it. great review again nutnfancy

  • sell 150 euros in france ( 200 $ )

  • hahaha british english funny stuff mate, great knife had mine for years rarely use it.

it was a gift and the steel of the blade always felt brittle to me and I've read many reviews saying it breaks under pry tests and the such.

they usually cost a lot more than the dude on here says but mb at walmart..

you will see this knife everywhere from hollywood to the deer hunter's belt if you are a man and an american you should have one...or maybe two.

  • woo i love this knife i regound the edge to a kitchen knife edge (I NEVER USE IT UNLESS I CANT CUT SOMTHING LIKE ROPE OR EVEN VEGI'S) i do kitchen use's to. i got different knives for differents situation's dont judge me

  • Every knife guy should own one of these, and the original pocket folder. These are classics.

  • if it aint broke don't fix it and for the price its awesome. also they sre so cheap you can buy many and modify them to make them better

  • Hey Nutnfancy...can you say aluMINIUM again?

    ;p

  • @ihaterobbie123 spelling differs between American and British english - hence the different pronunciations

  • @mixcow

    English spelling: Aluminium

    American spelling: Aluminium

    Please, make up another excuse.

  • @ihaterobbie123 American spelling: aluminum. spell correctly when you correct....

  • @mysss29 I have an American English spell-check and it's telling me 'aluminum' isn't a word.

It does however offer a correction, let me just check...yep, it's 'aluminium'.

Look, I'm just having a joke and it's at the expense of Americans that don't seem to be able to say aluminium. I think it's funny, if you can't accept that then don't give me your attention.

  • @ihaterobbie123 Fine. So you're joking. So don't be hypersensitive when someone calls you on it. Your American English spell checker is wrong. My American Heritage dictionary lists aluminum as a legitimate word. Maybe you should develop a sense of humor toward yourself as well as others. Then you could take it as well as dish it out.

  • @dunfamalb I thought my response was pretty light-hearted...

Anyway, I'm not gonna take a lesson in humour from an American, we've been teaching you that for the past 30 years ;-)

No amount of Dr.William Anchor jokes will ever bring you up to speed though =D

  • @ihaterobbie123 Check this link. Click Aluminum and see what comes up. I'm sure your British Education is well ahead of ours in North America so I'm sure you'll find it. Check Aluminum Foil. Believe it or not there are boxes of aluminum foil AND boxes of aluminum foil, just like there are different colors and colours. BTW, how did the British manage to make works like "Leicester" pronounced Lester. A silent "ice" is a bit weirder than aluminum. I wish that was the only word it's one of many!

  • did he just say the gun section in walmart??

  • Veri could you ask Nutn to duracoat one of these I think that would be awesome

  • Comment removed

  • I purchased this knife last year. Came in a red box with a leather sheath and was $75.00 CND

  • I wish they would make a seven inch blade like this with a kraton handle so they could compete better with ka bar and cold steel as far as combat/survival knives

  • @bagman234 add a molle compatible kydex sheath, a butt cap

capable of hammering, a mabye some camo options. That would

definetly be a great military knife.

  • @bagman234 add a molle compatible kydex sheath, a butt cap

capable of hammering, a black epoxy coating and a mabye some camo options. That would definetly be a great military knife.

  • Dammit!! They're $100+ here in Australia!! We need a walmart!!

  • @Spacegoat92 They're 85 euros here. Around $120 AUS. It's ridiculous.

  • @justl00king69 Far out, maybe you can find a euro equivalent for around the same price, i just bought one here for $39 AUS i reckon its a copy of the 119 special, its made of the same steel and has the same blade design, but the handle is only slightly different. I guess i'll have to test it out and see what its got

  • @Spacegoat92 If you could let me know what brand it is (if any), I'd very much appreciate it.

  • @justl00king69 I dont think it has any brand to speak of, it has "tactical" writen on the packet, the stores name is "anaconda" have a look at their website its in the catalogue now, maybe you could contact them and arrange postage, to my dismay of course, the price has been reduced further due to a sale

  • @justl00king69 I just got one from the U.S for $48 including postage to Australia, it arrived today woohoo, Ebay, with a leather sheath, very nice classy looking knife in person

  • @Spacegoat92 every thing is to expensive here i just get my knives of the internet

  • What is the indent on both side of the blade used for on this knife?

  • just bought mine ...fantastic ....walmart style... 40 bucks......ha ha

  • buck 119 for the win

  • hey nutn is this full tang please respond bro... p.s ur faithful subscriber

  • @KiiNgofTheCastle IT BE A FULL TANG!

  • @Firearms4Canada ARRGG

  • Anyone know were I can buy one of these with the nylon sheath? Walmart in Canada doesn't seem to carry them. Thanks

  • @Gef88 hey why do you want a nylon sheath when leather will last longer

  • i own the new model of the 119, they remade it with a bigger blade

  • I have used this knife somewhat abusively, one day I was chopping at a small 1 inch in diameter oak sapling, then a 1 inch long piece of steel flew off the knife, I love this knife, but the 440 steel kills the durability but it awesome on rust resistance

  • @ltjosh10 ...its 420hc steel isn't it?

  • @mousepad1123 of course

  • "if u dont not no the buck name...uhhh...somthins rong with u" hahaha priceless

  • @giorgios95 hell yah buck blows all companies away

  • how much

  • @lalaland2999 why don't you just listen? he says it right at the beginning.

  • @lalaland2999 40 - 50 $

  • haha wow ive had this knife scince i was 10 and i forgot how awesome it looks mine is all not shiney and scratched

  • i love mine had it 4 over a year now no rust thank god

  • WOW NUTN SURPRISED YOU JUST BOUGHT THIS KNIFE....THIS WAS MY FIRST FIXED BLADE VERY VERY SHARP AMERICAN STEEL CLASSIC

  • scream knife

  • @andy92811 LOL i remember that

  • SUCKING SENSATION ON YOUR SIX-INCH BLADE XD

  • too bad its a chinese buck

  • @firebeaver39 It's made in U.S.A.

  • The reason it says made in the USA is because it is a buck I'm pretty sure all of their knives are made here.

  • i bought the one with the leather sheath, it was about 15-20$ more then this one but worth it, it looks awsome!

  • @metalskatelife yah me too the leather sheath just looks awesome and will last longer it makes the knife look more traditional

  • this knife reaks, I've felt how fragile it is when I held it in hand, its just not on par with a recon scout from cold steel per say.

  • @EasternGateGuardian let me guess you held it and it felt like it weighed nothing, thats because the hilt and hand guard are aluminum and with a plastic handle.....ur an idiot for making a remark about a buck knife..... fuckin pilots used it in vietnam

  • @KiiNgofTheCastle

geez, chill. saddly, this happenned to my trailmaster...and the brass guard is freaking loose...but the edge holding is way outhere compared to buck 420hc.

  • I got this at walmart, dropped it and now the blade is loose. im guessing it isnt full tang but im not sure

  • @avhousebitch

You sure it wasn't a counterfeit or something?

Because I've chopped wood with mine.

  • @avhousebitch it is full tang and return it too buck its a lifetime warranty...and you must of really dropped this knife cuz i beat the holy hell out of mine

  • do you like this more than the fällkniven a1? please answer

  • @Petegrin1

your comparing a chevy with a mercedes there!

  • Too bad these knives cost like 80 euros (98 dollars) in my country

  • its the same exact knife from scream lol

  • on the buck knife webisite that knife there is 81 dollars

  • It is amazing that you can buy a knife this incredible that is made in the U.S. and only costs $39.95. Go to Walmart and buy one now!

  • it's a 130 dollars here

  • they sell kershaws at walmart

  • ay nutin u should bring the 119 up to the knife clinic ied like to see it preform
