Having mine done on Feb 29th 2012....I cant wait til its all over. My period days are like hers...I got soooo light-headed and dizzy...I actually had to take iron pills because I became very anemic.
I am getting this procedure done as an outpatient on 20th Feb. Less than two weeks to go and I am counting the days. I have been going through my underwear drawers and sorting out the horrible dingy "Period Pants" ready to throw them all out!! At last I will be able to wear all my lovely WHITE lacy pants with utter confidence. It means a lot to me...
i met my gf about a yr ago she has two children and i have none, now she wants to give me a child i so desperately want but has had this procedure whats the chances of us conceiving ? anyone know?
@1972scooter no offence o.o , but we already have way too many people on earth :/ , especially kids, maybe try adopting :x ? helping a child, and helping over-population at the same time :) , just a thought. and i dont think this procedure is reversible, it's permanent birth control. i think with novasure they burn the lining of the uterus or something like that, which i dont think can be reversed.
@1972scooter She will have to speak with her dr. This is a non-reversable procedure. So if this rendered her sterile she wont be able to have more children...this is only when a woman says she is definitely done with having kids...
Why don't they do this on virgins? My doctor keeps making excuses not to treat me with anything. She only prescribed pain pills that cost $1,000's , they don't even work!!!
First she says the only reason she won't do it is because I'm a virgin, so I took care of that had has sex with someone. Went back a 2nd time now her excuse is my age. So I came back years later, now she's saying I have to have at-least 6 kids. WTF!? I don't want kids-she doesn't understand that. I'd give them up for adoption
@uykjuyhjkyuhj are you a troll o.o? if not, that really sucks :/ . but you shouldn't of had sex with some random person just to get this :( , i hope you're ok. but you dont need 6 kids, personally, you shouldn't need to have any at all to get this procedure :P , and i know how you feel.
@PencilOverPen No, I'm not a troll. They are the "gate keepers" of my health, and I have to do what they say before they will even think of helping me.
@uykjuyhjkyuhj oh ok sorry for asking. and you dont have to do what they say :P . go to planned parent hood, they'll hook you up :3 . i think if you go there without kids you can still get sterilized.
@princess1965, Im doing just WONDERFUL!!! I haven't had a period since 6wks after the procedure was done in June. I did have 6wks of discharge, was like after you have a baby. I did have some cramping that was kinda bad, but it got better. My sex life is good, I think. lol!!! I did notice somethings different, though. Im alot wetter than I was before. Sometimes it takes me longer to have an orgasm. But that is about it. Im soo glad I had it done. I would change it for anything. :)
I had this procedure done yesterday due to severe cramping every month. The first day I had pretty bad cramping and took some Motrin, Today is the second day and I feel much better and have been doing some light cleaning. I am hoping to completely eliminate my period and cramps. I was in and out of the hospital in about 3 hours. I hope it was worth it!!
@NEIL3113 I had this done in 2006 at the age of 23 and it was the best decision I have ever made. The only difference to your sex life is you can no longer use being on your period as an excuse to get out of having sex lol. Recovery is super quick.
@fastandeffective Yes. I had this done 6 years ago now. I was married & had already had my children and didn't want anymore. I was having horrible periods that lasted on average 3 weeks with extremely heavy bleeding and this was an excellent decision that i researched thoroughly before telling my Dr. I wanted it done. Because of endometrioma cysts my left ovary was removed the same day Some people heavily research procedures before they undergo them ya know and I'm one of the ones who did..
@fastandeffective I should also add that the fact you can't have children after having it done is another reason I did it as birth control was not a good option for me. I had my right tube tied when I had it done also as there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy when you have this procedure done unless you have your tubes tied at the same time or chose to go on birth control after the procedure.
I had the procedure done 3 years ago and I have not had a period or any spotting in 3 years. It was wonderful and has been. I am so glad I had it done.
I am going to trust my ob/gyn. He is awesome. I understand the risks. Hopefully it will all go well for me. I spend 14 days of every month MISERABLE with heavy bleeding, clots, ruined clothes and going to the bathroom every hour!
I understand completely. At my worst I bled for 34 days non-stop. And it was bleeding with a vengeance , I'm sure I don't need to go into detail, I was housebound for many of those days despite using all the protection on Earth . Some women have drawers full of underwear, I have two drawers full of sanitary items. I am waiting to hear from the hospital as regards the date. I cant wait and I am getting it done as an outpatient with a local anaesthetic, even better.
Im having the novasure on Friday. Im a lil nervous about it. Im 5 wks post-op from having the Lap-Band. I had already had the band surgery scheduled when my dr. recommended this to me. My surgeon said I could get the noveasure 3wks post-op. I was also suppose to have it in the office, but I have to have it in the hospital outpatient. But Im ready because I really needs this. So I now it just has to work. Wish me luck and will post again after procedure.
@veenie73 Good luck, I will be interested to hear how it goes for you. I'm having it done as soon as I hear from the hospital, and I welcome it with open arms. I can't wait to reclaim my life.
I had this procedure 4 years ago. Easy, no more heavy periods, but be sure to get regular screenings for uterine cancer since the uterine lining is gone and there will be no bleeding as an early warning.
I had this procedure done in June 2010. I am sooooo satisfied. Minimum pain, had to take motrin for pain and have a small scar to show for it. I have not had a period since the procedure. i highly recommend this. My doctor actually recommended this because i was getting my tubes tied also. I trust her completely and glad i had it done.
I had the novasure ablation in June, 2010, and will now HAVE TO HAVE A HYSTERECTOMY because of the damage it did to me. At first I had regular periods (instead of the gushing clots I used to have), but then 6 months after the procedure the extreme pain started and the blood was significantly lighter. Let me tell you that the pain FAR OVERSHADOWED the bleeding I used to have. It was like being in labor. I recently found out that I now have cervical stenosis, due to the ablation.
I am having the procedure done next week and now that i have seen this video I can not wait. I am going to make sure all of my friends thats having this problem know about this. no hysteremomy for me. im keeping my girls. God bless.
I had this done in 08 it was great at first than the periods started back up. Now for the last year I have been dealing with EXTREME knife stabbing pain that is 20 times worse than what they were before this procedure was ever done. The pain will radiate on the right side and will go down the leg. The pain is so bad that I am Nothing helps, I am scheduled for full hysterectomy in a month. Also have read from many others who had this done and that they have been the same as me. Dont do it.
I am having this done on the 5th of next month. I have been laid up in bed for weeks at a time pain. on top of this I have TMJ, Myofascial pain syndrome, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, disc protrusions at C5~6, C6~7 and L4~5. Degenerative Joint Disease. I take Lidoderm, vicodin, ambien, lyrica, paxil, flexeril, and Naproxen. With all the meds I still am laid up in bed for days on end due to pain. I can't wait hopefully all goes well with this. no more bad news please
@rmdezanett32 I just had this done two days ago (on Monday). I'm so glad I did too because I feel much better than before I had it done. I go back on the 5th of next month for my Post-Op. Good luck to you hun. I'm sure you'll feel much better.
I had it done almost three years ago and it changed my life. I was given pain meds but didn't really need them. If you're having trouble and considering this, I would strongly encourage it.

Another update! It's been a year now and I have never felt better. This was the easiest and most effective thing for me. Research well and know that many women are loving their life again! Feels so good to be FREE of the monthly drama. For me, it was DRAMA! No more! I feel so good!
i am going to consider this procedure and I want to get my life back like the women in the video stated. The only thing I haven't heard a lot about is are there any after affects in this procedure?I sisn't hear any of the ladies say anthing about this, and it seems to be a simple thing done to elimanate this problem.
I had this procedure 2 yrs ago. I had it in the hospital and had to be on pain meds for about a week. I have since had lighter periods but still have severe cramping. I read on the novasure site that the uterus can retain some of the blood from your period causing cramps. My pain lasts about 5-10 days and it seems to be every other month. I experience my worst pain in the middle of my period and then when it ends which doesn't make any sense to me. Best of luck to everyone.
I'm having this procedure done november 4th. I've had a full blown period every 2 weeks like clockwork for the past 7 months. This has really taken a toll on my body and made me anemic also from the blood loss. I really hope it works and takes my period away or lessens it tremendously! Looking forward to the procedure and get my life back!

@infantry0076 I too was diagnosed as anaemic due to blood loss, at times I wondered how much more blood my uterus could hold. And so heavy, not even blood, it was much worse. I also have developed severe Restless Legs Syndrome due to my very low Ferratin levels (Iron), and this rules my life too, I have considered ending it because of the RLS and I hate my body because of what it's done to me. I'm having this procedure, and hope it helps my Ferratin levels go up.
All women beware of this procedure because it can cause more problems than what it is worth and Novasure doesn't tell you about the risks of eblation therapy.
@107mah1 <It would be nice if you could evidence your claim against this procedure -as many women, my self included are worked up enough about the problems we are having with our cycles and the possible solutions on offer.
I had this done 2 1/2 years ago. I love it! Although I did have a watery pinky orange discharge for the first 6 weeks. After that I had dark brown spotting during my period for about 6 months. Now I am completely free of all spotting. I sometimes have minor back pain which is the only thing that reminds me I am on my "period". I would highly recommend this to any who are considering.
im 25 years old but i am seriously considering having this due to the fact that my period has cause me to become severly enemic . i have had at least ten blood transfusions due to loss of blood during my periods. i have had a seziure as well . yes i know im young but birth control doesnt work for me an i cant not have an iud . .... this might be my only option
@missnonotneva Have you considered the NovaSure procedure instead? It is also a procedure done in your doctor's office but it is specifically designed for Menorrhagia (heavy bleeding). It is not surgery and is highly effective. I would suggest asking your doctor if that is a possibility for you! Good luck!
Im having this done Friday during my tubal. My doc said there is still a chance of pregnancy with nova sure so he going to do a tubal also. I know this doesnt mess with your ovaries so it shouldnt control your hormones but i still worry about wait gain. Has anyone experienced any weight changes after having this procedure?
I had the procedure done on Apr 27, about 3 months ago. Initially, it was great. My cramping after only lasted a day or 2 and havent had a period at all since. My problem is that I have had horrible PMS with lower ab cramping through the pelvic area. My doc thinks it's gastro trouble as a root cause but I swear it's from the ablation. Has anyone had this happen? If so, please email me at teresac330@yahoo.com.
I had this done two days ago and I have to say it was so painful. When they say its only 90 seconds well it felt 90 min to me. When I went home the cramping was so bad and even today I still have cramping. Very little bleeding though I was expecting a lot more. Its to soon to tell if it worked so can't say anything about that. I do want to say if you can be out during the procedure do it. I was awake but "numb" and still felt the whole 90 seconds of it. Good luck!
I guess you just have to have the right doctor because i went to have this procedure done after 3 months of waiting for the surgery and having heavy bleeding for a year and a half the doctor some how poked a whole in my uterus didn't burn a hole in my uterus he poked a hole so now i have to wait till i'm healed to do this procedure again i now have a cut inside my belly button and under my belly which hurts pretty bad i hope this gets better
I had this done like 3 yrs ago... At first there was so cramping and for the first 2 to 3 months i had some light discharge... After that I wasn't getting a period at all... Now one drop, I was so happy until this pass Friday July the 9th, After 3 yrs of not haven't anything, I got it back it's not so bad but it feels like before but with out all the bleeding, cramping is back and I did stain my panties.. Is this normal not to have a period for 3 yrs and then I get it back... Not Fair At ALL!!
I am very interested in this procedure but due that I have a $4000 deductible for inpatient and outpatient procedures, my only option is to find a doctor that will do the procedure in office. I live in the Jackson, MS area and all the doctors I have called so far only use hospitals or outpatient surgical facilities. Can anyone recommend a doctor, I would be willing to travel outside of MS if I have to, or how can I find a list of doctors that will do the procedure in office?
@jsflorez67 --I live in Houston and am considering this. I sent my OB/GYN an email asking her if she did this in office. Waiting on her response. My fingers are crossed! Did you post the name and number of your doctor?
hi my name is Lisa I am 40 yrs old I just had this procedure done on june 16th everyting was great. I feel great ..now I won't feel so imbarrassed and wonder if I will have any more accidents anymore...this procedure is better than having your ovaries removed or having a full hystorectomy done..you will definately feel alot better about yourself ....thanks so much to dr. flowers you are my hero
Had this done a week ago and the procedure went fine. The day of slept most of the day and had bad cramping. Very little bleeding and just watery pink discharge. But, one week later I am having light cramps and bloating with what seems like a period. I wonder if this will continue? Yikes I sure would like this eliminated totally. I have had my share of flooding. I want nothing! BTW...had no polyps or complications other than extreme flooding and 10 day periods. Any words of wisdom? :)
I'm 43 years old and I'm having this procedure done at my Drs. office Wed. I'm a little nervous about it because of some the comments Ive read but anything is better than what i'm going through with my periods which is just awful and a mess and i'm truley just sick of it...So wish me luck I will post my outcome next week
Also it seems my periods have only gotten worse. =( I am glad it works for so many. I was really hoping it would work for me, I needed it to work, but it did not. I guess my only other option is to have a partial hysterectomy. I'll be seeing my doctor again soon.
I had this procedure done at my doctors office, and it was horrific! The pain I experienced was awful. My doctor said I must have a extremely sensitive uterus because he has done 100's of Novasure procedures in his office & no one has ever experienced the pain I did. I had it done on a Friday and my doctor called me on the following Saturday and Sunday to check on me because he was so worried about the pain I was in. I also suffered a UTI and bladder infection after. And it didn't work for me.
Update here on the nova sure operation I had mine done Oct 21 2009 this month started smearing... Doc said its normal and to call if its more then just that.... Well the crapping one day was driving me nuts hurt like you wouldn't believe after that nothing more on the cramping... Weird peace out..
I had this surgery done in june of 2008 and I was 26 this surgery isn't for everyone I am glad most had a good outcome but for me I have had complications since the surgery I have bloating, severe pain in my sides and uterus, went to the doctor and now they are talking about a hysterectomy I didn't have a period until the month before last but it isn't like a regular period it is a rusty color and I hurt and have pains, tried to bleed for 13 days this is the worst thing I could have ever done.
I'm having this done next week - I am so glad I ran across this video to fully explain the procedure and thanks to all of you posting your positive results. Wish me luck!!!
Done yesterday. Little to no pain (no more than a period type cramping). Slept a lot yesterday. Today I feel totally normal. VERY minor spotting and am so pleased I did this. I hope to have the continued results as you wonderful ladies have posted!
Did your doctor not make it VERY plain that this was only for people who did NOT want ANY more children???? This is ONLY for women who are completely DONE with having children! I feel bad for you if this was not made completely clear to you.
I had my surgery done Oct 21,2009... I had back to back surgery but the nova sure was great.. I did have some pain the first day after that nothing.. My other surgery was a few weeks to recoup .. Id recommend this procedure to any female with the problems we have ... Its a plus in my book..
Im a little over 5 months now no periods no pain ....IM FREE!!!!! I was starting to think I need to take stock in pads.. . . Be safe ppl.. Enjoy....
I had this procedure done this past May and it did not work for me..heavy periods and clotting still remained the same..procedure is not for everyone..i now have a partial hysterectomy scheduled for next Friday.. If i would have known the procedure wouldn't have worked for everyone I would have just had the partial last year. I guess everyone's body just reacts differently.
I am having this done in about three weeks. I have major cramps and heavy bleeding for two to three days, and pain through out the month. I am doing this first hoping it will work. If not, a hysterectomy may have to be done, which I am trying to put off.
Do they put you to sleep ? My Dr. suggested this procedure to me today. I want to have it done but at the same time I'm a little scared. I was reading about the complications that are possible and now I'm starting to freak out a little.
They put you under mild anethesia, some people stay awake but I fell asleep. I had mine done 2 years ago now, and i have very mild spotting every other month, like a quarter's worth. I love it!
I had the procedure done on Christmas Eve 2009 because of heavy bleeding, it was easy, a little cramping for a couple of days. However the procedure did NOT work for me, I am current on my second period now since my procedure and can say with out a doubt that it has actually has made my periods worse. I am now bleeding even harder than before. This last period I started on Thursday lite bleeding by Friday I was bleeding through both super tampons & pads.. Got a call into the doctor...
Had this done this morning under anesthesia and was no big deal. I am crampy, and I would say a little more than moderate so I am taking my pain pills and just resting. I am using a small heated blanket and have it doubled over and am wrapping around my lower abdomen and back like a wide-low belt and it is working GREAT for the cramps! Will update on future periods the end of Feb! Tomorrow Motrin will be enough and btw I ate @ Cracker Barrell right after the procedure! it was a breeze!
As of now, March 5th, I have not had a "period"! I have had a few times of funny colored discharge and today had pinkish tinge but no periods! I am so hhappy with this procedure! I hope this helps anyone trying to decide if it is for them! I HIGHLY recommend having it done with anesthesia though. A co-worker had it done in-office and said it was VERY uncomfortable and she is still having periods, just not bad ones. I know I was extremely happy with the whole situation, for me!
I had mine done inpatient, I was awake and no pain. My OBGYN gave me plenty of numbing and painkillers to make sure I didn't have discomfort... It was a plesant experience for me! I'm sure it differs with each case, sorry for your friend...
That is awesome! I'm sure everyone has a diffeent technique and every patient has different pain tolerences. I'm glad it worked out for you! My friend said, even with her procedure being "somewhat uncomfortable" and even though she still has a very mild period, she would still do it again because it is so much better than prior!!
I am glad to read all the positive comments on this procedure. I am having it done next Monday. Bleeding is not such a huge problem, I have alot of cramping. I also have menstral migrains, I am hoping it might also offer some relief with those.
I had this done 2 years ago and have not had 1 period - no cramps, no PMS. A couple of times I have had very (no panty protection required!) scant staining for a day or two, but that could have been uterine. Recovery was a snap. No post-op bleeding, just a weird colored discharge for about a month. I am soooo happy with the results I have talked 2 friends into doing it and they are happy with the results as well.
Just had this done on Thurs, wonder why I waited. First few hrs I had cramping, but heating pad on my back and a microwavable heat pad on abdomen, along with 3 motrin every 4-5 hrs kept it under control. Went shopping the next day. Cramping a little more again today, but nothing I can't handle.
I am having this done in five days. Very nervous but two of my friends have had it done and are very happy with the results. Hope this fixes my probelem of being so exhausted all the time and unpredictable periods.
I had this procedure done yesterday under general anesthesia. It's now 18 hours post-op, I'm feeling perfect and back to my regular routine. Can't wait to find out in a few weeks what the results are....hopefully no more bleeding.
I had the novasure procedure, and i am very happy with the result. It's been two years and i am having severe pain on left side, i am worried it might be my ovaries. ABSOLUTELY NO BLEEDING
I had this done in 2007 and also a polyp removal. I have not had any periods since. But like you I am having severe pain on my left side and my gyno told me today I have some golf ball size fibroids up high left, now we are talking hysterectomy. Get it checked. Good Luck!
I had this procedure done 2 years ago. It was great. I wasnt having heavy bleeding all the time, but my and I doctor decided to just go ahead and have it taking care of. After about 3 days I was back to normal. The first day was rough, very tender and sore. Its so worth it if you dnt plan on any more children and want to have no more periods. I was in my early 30's at the time, rest of my life without periods, its amazing!
Yes, but your doctor might question you depending on your age. I am childless and married, had this done at 38 but my doctor insisted that I also have my tubes tied at the same time, as getting pregnant afterward (yes you are generally sterile without an endometrium, but ectopic or non-endometrian pregnancies are possible). I know some other doctors do not insist on this though.
I had this done on Ocotber 6, 2009 and it was the best thing I have ever done. I had such bad periods and couldn' take it anymore. We were done having kids and decided to get this done. When I went into have the surgery I had started my period and when I came out, I was no longer on my period. I went back to work a day later. What a difference between night and day. I will be starting my period sometime this week and I will post to let you know how light or if at all I will have a period
OK? What was the outcome? I'm having this done in 2 weeks. Just had the Endometrial Biopsy today, was no big deal. I will be sedated for the actual procedure, but wondered how your period was or if you had one?
First of all, good luck to you. I hope all goes well. It should. It is a breeze. Don't worry at all. i have not had any periods for over three months. Please let me know how you do. I hope you don't have any periods either.
YAY! Was due Feb 25th! Had the procedure Feb 5th and it was a snap! Funny color discharge and light pink but no peiod!!! I would recommend this to anyone! Thanks for your input! It was much appreciated!
I got that too for the first 2 months but I'm at month 4 and nothing so far.. My Dr said since I still ovulate, that is likely what all that's about so it will lessen with time but still happen... So happy you feel good like me!
I had Novasure 8 days ago and it was a breeze! I was awake and alert during the procedure and felt nothing. The recovery was far less painful than menstural cramps. I was back to normal the next day.. and feeling fine! I will try to post an update again in a month or 2, please ladies, look into it! I'm 37 and I have had 25 years of heavy, painful bleeding. It's exciting to know I have a better future to look forward to ;D Good luck all!
Excited to report that my life is so much better now! In these past 4 mos all my female problems are GONE. No bleeding, pain, mood swings, no PMS at all. I finally have a clear face at 37! I am not buying pads, tampons, etc and saving $! Not in bed for a couple of days every month. The freedom is awesome! I no longer worry about bleeding on my sheets or getting up in the night to go change my pad and tampon. Please let us know what you decide, good luck! I have been meaning to post an update!
@itsmelizi The thought of 25 years of this would be hell...how did you cope? Were you anaemic? After 25 years you must feel like you have been handed a brand new life! I am waiting for the hospital to send me the date for this procedure to be done, and I just cannot wait, there are NO doubts in my head.
I had the Novasure done 2 1/2 years ago i am 27 & have 5 children. I havent had 1 menstral cycle no cramping or anything. I would highly recomend this to any1 that has had problems. I use to have a menstral cycle 3 1/2 weeks out of a month with cramps that would put me in bed for 2-3 days. Talk to your dr. & see what he thinks, i went into the hospital was put to sleep woke up lil bit later & for cpl days i was lil sore but have been great since.
I wouldn't , you need to rest to prevent any infections or fevers.. at least a day or 2.. I'm not a medical professional but for me, I would take it easy and try to avoid any possible issues ;)
i just had it done seot. 25..the provedure went great.. very litlle spotting..although i am still spotting with some cramping, any input on this for me ,i hoping this part of the healing process. other than that i would recommend it for anyone with the same problems..
Had it done last december. I had some complications - mostly pain and fever - I am convinced I had a post op infection - doc gave me some antibiotics but i was in the bed for a good week. Can't believe this woman was out to dinner that night and doing normal activities the next day. With that said - It was worth it and I would do it again because it solved my problems for the most part. Before the surgery, I couldn't get 10 feet away from my bathroom for a couple of days each month.
Ok, Im next here and Im nervous!!! Ive been going through this for to many yrs now.. With menopause hitting me right and left.. Im waiting on the endometrial biop to show no cancer..
My suggested to do Novasure Ablation and If im watching the right video here it seems easy in and out .. . Im for it.. Ive read what you guys
posted... I hope things worked out okay.. Im right behind you ...
I had this done almost 4 years ago and I don't regret it. I was put to sleep. Had some major cramping afterwards but it lasted only a few hours and then I was fine. Haven't had a period since.
@Daisy72762 You have the option of doing it in the Dr.'s office or at a hospital. I had one yesterday, at the hospital, and I had a light general anesthesia (I went to sleep). No pain whatsoever.
The ABSOLUTE best thing I've ever done for myself! I had it done 5 yrs. ago and I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you're done having kids.
poweredxbyxhope - hysterectomy is a MUCH more invasive procedure with ALOT more complications, alot more costly and is "overkill" if the only problem you're having is menorrhagia & possibly anemia.
A vaginal hysterectomy is also indicated for cramps, pain, heavy bleeding, dyspareunia, endometrial cancer, endometriosis, adenomyosis, cervical dysplasia.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why not just get a hysterectomy? Sure it's a major procedure, but you don't have to worry about cramping, bleeding, mood-swings, cancer and other reproductive-related problems for the rest of your life.
Besides, we don't need any more freaking kids on this planet.
@VValkyrie What is your doctor saying about the cramps? I had this procedure done a year ago and suffer from extreme cramps. The first day i have bloating, swelling, and extreme pain so server that I have to hold my legs up against the wall. The medication my doctor gave me for pain makes me very sick to my stomach. I would like to know what is your next move.
Having mine done on Feb 29th 2012....I cant wait til its all over. My period days are like hers...I got soooo light-headed and dizzy...I actually had to take iron pills because I became very anemic.

NEIL3113 4 months ago
@NEIL3113 I had this done in 2006 at the age of 23 and it was the best decision I have ever made. The only difference to your sex life is you can no longer use being on your period as an excuse to get out of having sex lol. Recovery is super quick.

At 23?
Has your doctor informed you that you cannot have children after this procedure?
fastandeffective 1 month ago
@fastandeffective Yes. I had this done 6 years ago now. I was married & had already had my children and didn't want anymore. I was having horrible periods that lasted on average 3 weeks with extremely heavy bleeding and this was an excellent decision that i researched thoroughly before telling my Dr. I wanted it done. Because of endometrioma cysts my left ovary was removed the same day Some people heavily research procedures before they undergo them ya know and I'm one of the ones who did..
xangry666angelx 1 month ago
@fastandeffective I should also add that the fact you can't have children after having it done is another reason I did it as birth control was not a good option for me. I had my right tube tied when I had it done also as there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy when you have this procedure done unless you have your tubes tied at the same time or chose to go on birth control after the procedure.

I had this procedure 4 years ago. Easy, no more heavy periods, but be sure to get regular screenings for uterine cancer since the uterine lining is gone and there will be no bleeding as an early warning.

After a vaginal hysterectomy, you would not have these cancer risks!
The solution to your problem would have been final.

Dont do it.

It means that your doctor did not complete burning every part of your endometrium.
It is not his fault, though.
This device often misses parts of tissue around angles.
That is why in the British Medical Journal women and doctors report that they prefer instead a vaginal hysterectomy.

I am very interested in this procedure but due that I have a $4000 deductible for inpatient and outpatient procedures, my only option is to find a doctor that will do the procedure in office. I live in the Jackson, MS area and all the doctors I have called so far only use hospitals or outpatient surgical facilities.

I had this done 2 years ago and have not had 1 period - no cramps, no PMS. A couple of times I have had very (no panty protection required!) scant staining for a day or two, but that could have been uterine. Recovery was a snap.

I was in my early 30's at the time, rest of my life without periods, its amazing!

my husband and i have no children and dont plan on raising a family. can i still have this done?
krystascissorhands 2 years ago

I will be starting my period sometime this week and I will post to let you know how light or if at all I will have a period
duranfan1982 2 years ago

@seemego2150
At 46, you should also elimitate cancer risks.
Have a vaginal hysterectomy!

Having it done after a D and C. Nervous. Do you think I can go back to work the next day????
ilovejessebabe 2 years ago
I wouldn't , you need to rest to prevent any infections or fevers.. at least a day or 2.. I'm not a medical professional but for me, I would take it easy and try to avoid any possible issues ;)
itsmelizi 2 years ago
i just had it done seot.

Daisy72762 2 years ago
You can't JUST GET a hysterectomy, moron! They have to prove its medically necessary,or insurance will NOT pay for it!

Awsome Procedure! I had this done 4 years ago and I am so happy. Not only are the awful heavy periods gone, so are the side effects like PMS!

I had this done almost 4 years ago and I don't regret it. I was put to sleep. Had some major cramping afterwards but it lasted only a few hours and then I was fine. Haven't had a period since.

they put you to sleep to do this procedure? Im hoping to have this done soon......
Daisy72762 2 years ago
@Daisy72762 You have the option of doing it in the Dr.'s office or at a hospital. I had one yesterday, at the hospital, and I had a light general anesthesia (I went to sleep). No pain whatsoever.
sexycrmlchick 1 year ago
The ABSOLUTE best thing I've ever done for myself! I had it done 5 yrs. ago and I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you're done having kids.
poweredxbyxhope - hysterectomy is a MUCH more invasive procedure with ALOT more complications, alot more costly and is "overkill" if the only problem you're having is menorrhagia & possibly anemia.
etexmom 2 years ago
@etexmom
Wrong!
A vaginal hysterectomy is also indicated for cramps, pain, heavy bleeding, dyspareunia, endometrial cancer, endometriosis, adenomyosis, cervical dysplasia.

Why not just get a hysterectomy? Sure it's a major procedure, but you don't have to worry about cramping, bleeding, mood-swings, cancer and other reproductive-related problems for the rest of your life.
Besides, we don't need any more freaking kids on this planet.

Didn't work. Very disappointed. Some improvement but cramps are extreme.
VValkyrie 2 years ago
curious if you're still disappointed or if things have improved... i am considering it.. im 46
seemego2150 2 years ago
@VValkyrie What is your doctor saying about the cramps? I had this procedure done a year ago and suffer from extreme cramps. The first day i have bloating, swelling, and extreme pain so server that I have to hold my legs up against the wall. The medication my doctor gave me for pain makes me very sick to my stomach. I would like to know what is your next move.
