  • The debate is a tad limited here. Where are the people calling for jail sentences for corporate criminals? Where are the people calling for a total reform of many of these systems from the ground up?

  • @yanikv Ratigan does discuss that in some of his shows.

  • NBC THE ULTIMATE CORPORATE FAMILY OF CORPORATE LOVING WALL STREET LOVING WEALTH CLASS LOVING BIG GOVERNMENT NO MATTER WHO'S IN CHARGE,,,,,,,ET AL.........are not gonna go after the banks that rob us like they did after the viet nam war lovin pentagon in the 60's and 70's.......

  • @8:48 "So what? So we elect Rick Perry and they start hiring? That's bullshit!"

  • 2 issues

    1. I wish you guys would stop going on hearsay and actually spend the time to look up the actual tax paid (Effective Average Tax Rates 29%) or (Effective Marginal Tax Rates 23.6%) and then compare those rates to other countries.

    2. Large companies love red tape and regulation it makes it so much harder for start ups to make it. The less competition they have the easier it is for those at the top to get richer.

The solution is less regulation and red tape, not more.

  • ' I can dig it, but notice the insanity a bit. "Our corporate bought government". TAX THEM MORE, GIVE THE GOVERNMENT MORE!!!!'

Why not. The government spends much of our money making them richer. Better them to share more of the tax burden than me.

  • Notice how the Verizon CEO completely avoided the question as to whether there is something wrong with the increasing disparity of wealth. His answer was that it's perfectly ok, in some many words. Also the loopholes in terms of corporate taxes for mega corporations allow companies with a 35% tax rate to pay ZERO. GE paid zero + continues to move jobs to third world countries with slave wages. So does Verizon.

  • @55ella2007k Let's tax them all more, then complain when they move completely overseas. Or when they raise the price to offset the taxes.

Because we all know how that the money we give the government is well spent and we should all chip in and pay for the war in Iraq and the war on drugs and the porkbarrel spending and the bridges to nowhere rather than, say, tell the government to stop fucking up and give them less so they can't fuck up as much.

  • @CliffM85 'Let's tax them all more, then complain when they move completely overseas. Or when they raise the price to offset the taxes.'

Actually our tax system is specifically built to encourage them to ship jobs overseas. Taxing a corporation isn't as difficult as they would have you believe and the reason why they ship jobs overseas is because our corporate bought government makes it easy for them not because corporations feel oppressed by heavy handed taxes.

  • @smpunditz I can dig it, but notice the insanity a bit. "Our corporate bought government". TAX THEM MORE, GIVE THE GOVERNMENT MORE!!!!

Either you trust the government to fix the problem and have no problem with an increase in tax, which in turn leads to an increase in prices of goods, or you realize that really the government just makes it worse. I fall in to that last category.

  • @CliffM85 actually tax increases do not neccesarily lead to an increase in the cost of goods. The corporate tax taxes what a company reports as profits and therefore is not an expense. If the company reinvests in itself such as by hiring more workers, increasing their wages, paying for their tuition etc that money does not count as profits.

The greatest period of growth in the last century was when the tax rate was 90%. Companies actually paid about 50% because they reinvested their money.

  • @DylanRatigan has come such a long way! I remember when he was arguing against Ron Paul and now he is preaching his message ! (against fractional reserve banking and against the socialization of risk!)

  • "Lets not talk about the shelling and shooting because that is creating warfare."

"Lets not talk about economic disparities because that is creating class warfare."

Anybody see the similarities between these two comments?

  • i have to talk to verizon employees in my job, they have to be the laziest and least responsible workers i've ever encountered... probably because they are treated like crap

  • @gratex Yep. That's why they went on strike.

  • That man is a liar. While the nominal tax rate on cooperations in the US is indeed about 40%, what they actually PAY is much lower - around 6%, if I recall correctly.

This is thanks to the excessive ammount of loopholes in the US - which, of course, the lobbyists are fighting tooth and nail for.

  • @InnerPartisan yeah I've heard the 6% too.

  • @InnerPartisan

    "They is a misnomer".

Though your premise leads to a single logical conclusion, the Corporate rate should be FLAT at 0 to stop the lobbying, at that point subsidies should be blanket banned. Corpo.rate "profits" thats are retained can only be used for one purpose: investment

  • @InnerPartisan Don't forget that corporations aren't taxed based on gross sales, but net profit.

All of the people trying to claim the individual tax rates are too high on those with the most income, and too low on the people with the least income, they just point to gross individual income, and don't take the cost of living into account.

  • A corporate CEO singing the praises of the free market is like a fly writing an ode to the flyswatter, and I'm glad there's progressives like Dylan Ratigan who understand that. I would never have his patience if I had to sit with this tool for 10 minutes.

  • @ConscientiousMind that's a great analogy.

  • "I think it's unfair." Of course. You made your billions off of the rigged system and continue to do so by having the $ to continue to pull the slot machine arm while millions of people wonder where their next paycheck is coming from to simply stay alive. And how is rich people paying taxes to the GOVT help the poor? HAHAHAHHA LIke one mobster paying another. Sad, man.
