Yeah it is a sad song, but they could be (as elphie) smiling at the fact they can't believe they are actually thinking about a boy they like, the only time they should really be sad is at the end of thew 2nd last verse onwards.

All actresses i've seen smile most of the way though, until the end of the 2nd last verse, cause thats when she believes she has no chance of getting the guy.

Also smiling when singing can help with pitch.

hi ive met kerry and idina at stage door in london. have to say kerry is a lot nicer than idina in person. would have loved to have seen the chess concert live with both together. she toured the US this summer doing songs from 'I Stand' and various shows it was amazing. i hope she does something here now it has been released but i doubt it.
