  • I agree with a lot of the other comments. Brandy deserved a 10 on this routine and her scores were lower than they should have been in her other AA routines. The judges were very biased back then and the US was never favored. She was robbed

  • @pappysprite Yes, yes yes!!!! Thank God this change now.The americans showing the world : We are the best!!!! But in that time, really the judges favored the URSS and the Romanians.Brandy was perfect!!!!She deserves a ten.

  • If Dagmar Kersten got a 10 in Seoul for a hop on a dismount, why did this only get a 9.925? I know it's a new Code of Points here after the Olympics, but come on.

  • and her revese hect was one of the highest ive ever seen to this day in 2010!!!!! go brandy!!!

  • This is a joke. I mean, a 9.925 for this routine? She deserved a 10!

  • Egregious judging; this routine should have scored a 10.5 compared to Laschenova's ten with her leg separations, muscled kips, missed handstands, and cowboyed dismount. This routine was fabulous.

  • I guess that this was an effect of the judging system at the time. Besides, the Soviets were still commanding the judging in favor of their Gymnasts. I couldn't agree with you more about Laschenova. She was a great gymnast, but this was the weakest event for her. I guess that the Soviets were looking ahead and visualized their falldown in this sport. So that's why they managed to get their 3 all around finalists on the podium. Certainly Brandy was underscored on purppose. She was great!!!

  • I don't think it was that well planned out ... all gymnasts that were not eastern bloc were generally underscored. Also, the judging throughout the whole championships were just odd.

  • In a certain way, you're giving me the reason. I guess the eastern bloc gymnasts ruled gymnastics at the time. But there were more soviet winners than polish, romanian, czhechs or even eastern germans. I guess they got a bittersweet time, when other countries began to stand out in the gymnastics field...And it really hurt!!!

  • @Anax68 Well, in general the scoring was very high for this meet, some of the highest scores Ive seen in the sport for routines with errors in them. That said, Brandy was underscored on bars and floor here, but she also got some gifts to get her into the AA given her horrendous team competition scores. The judges gave her a gift on beam to help her eek out the third AA spot for the USA

  • yes i thought she was way better than a 9.925 but her performance in the team optionals wasnt forgotten she did bad so the judges were cautious of her

  • Holy cow that was screwed! Deserved 9.975 at least!

  • agreed. i think she was underscored on 3 of her 4 events. the eastern bloc did NOT want an American near the podium.

  • No kidding LOL. If silivas got a ten with her legs a MILE apart on her landing, this should have been an 11.0. LOL.

  • That was excellent! I loved her dismount. So high and perfectly stuck. ;)

  • Best bar routine of her career when she needed it most! Perfectly aggressive! An easy 9.95 from a soviet gymnast that year

  • hmm, and silivas got a 9.975? hmmm, brandy was screwed.

  • @Timtation69 Her Olympic team final routine was pretty amazing also btw

  • brandy was so happy to have nailed that one! I love the smile when she is done! That smile just lights up the whole arena!

  • that is such a squeeky bar set... check out Yang Bo's on the same bars-- it's so suqeeky

  • Wow! What was her score?

  • 9,925

  • What a great release combo.
