I always thought it was funny that they gave Back There Someday to Gonzo. He has the raspiest, worst singing voice of all the Muppets. I think that's why it is so powerful to me. Some other Muppet could have sang it better, but none could gave sang with more heart.
Though Mr. Whitmire's Kermit often sounds slightly different then Mr. Henson's Kermit, it's incredible how similar they sound for Movin' Right Along. Note: Not at all a criticism of Whitmire - obviously, Mr. Henson's Kermit has a spirit that can't be recaptured, but Whitmire adds his own spirit to the role.
Hi, I have a question. I went to see this back in 2001 in CA, I remember that in the show Pepe presented the uncut Muppet Show pitch tape for CBS made in 1975. Is that on any of the parts? I've been looking everywhere.
A lot of things seem to have been cut, including the auction, Maria Bello's speeches, Sal Minella, and Mahna Mahna, and Where You At/Can You Picture That (but these were probably copyright claims). Do you have these, puppetup?
I have had to remove bits like Mahna Manha,Where You at and Can You Picture that due to copyright claims from the people who own the music but my tape doesn't include the pitch-tape or Sal Minella bits.
If anybody online has a copyofthis ill happily upload them onto here.
some great numbers in this one... i think the most moving version of 'going back there somedeay" has to be at jim henson's funeral... for anyone who hasn't seen those videos , i recommend it...
but if you have any soft spot in your heart for Jim or the muppets i'd clear out my afternoon for uncontrollable sobbing... seriously
@sr200179 He since removed them, but I have the audio from some of the videos he uploaded. Check out my YT account. I have "When The River Meets The Sea" and the closing medley.
Hmmmmm. I thought Steve was good with "Moving Right Along." It was his rendition of "Being Green" that I thought was a little weak. Also, a bit of incorrect information here. Paul said he's been working with the Muppets since 1979. However, he guest starred on a 1976 "Muppet Show" episode. Just thought I'd point that out.
"I'm going to go back there some day" is a powerful song. Every time I hear it, it grabs me. Paul is a fantastic songwriter.

This took place in 2001, right? I would have been a seven-year-old living in CA--I wish I would have gone to see it...
