  • What song is the wicked witch singing? I've seen the movie and one of the touring casts, but the witch never had her own song.

  • pause at 1:51

  • no matter how many times I read the explanations to the colour change, I still don't get it.

(I'm a rather visual person so despite my numerous attempts, when I read the text my mind just goes "Whut?")

  • IF I REMADE THE MOVIE IT WOULD BE 100% BASED ON THE BOOK!

  • ruby was a useless rock that no one cared about in Baum's time pluse Dorothy was 7 not 17.

  • "your crazy doing it this way i like the good witch but she was not glinda books glinda ruled in the north but this which ruled in the south and wicked witches where east and west read the book again and munchkins and i like that you brought back there national color if you did not own gold or sliver you where poor in Baum's time post civil war!"

  • I want to see this so bad. And that colour change trick is AWESOME. 8D

  • I hope this comes to Broadway soon.

  • At 1:18 the little girl is so cutee!

  • Been over two months since I saw it. How I wish to see it again x

  • I like dorothy better with the blue gown

  • @michellezheng03 She doesn't stay green for long. She's back in the blue gown at the top of act 2.

  • @GVirus14 if u look closely at her right should u can see she pulls something and the green comes over the blue :)

  • dorothy pulls her dress off of velcro and that changes it

  • Hannah was on my family tonight! And i was flicking through the channels after and only watched BB cuz it was all to do with oz

  • HOW DO THEY DO THE COLOR CHANGE FOR DOROTHY'S DRESS?!?!?!?! I still can't figure it out.

  • @GVirus14 she has a second dress OVER the first one; just a second before she does the twirl she grabs the other dress (that has a white outside) with her right hand a drops it in her twirl and voila: colour change :-)

  • @GVirus14 I think theres the green dress under the blue part and theres a section that they pull when she spins and that why the guy has a green cloth. Idk if that how they do it or not though.

  • @GVirus14 i blieve dorothys blue dress belt has a band on it that they tear off which drops her dress and reveals the green part under it

  • @GVirus14

She unclipped the top of her dress and it goes out into her skirt. You can see the blue underneath.

  • @GVirus14 She is wearing 2 dresses, the green dress is underneath and the blue one goes over, the skirt of the green dress is tucked up to the blue dress so when she spins the green and the blue skirt fall at the same time, there is a velcro on the side of the blue dress (notice the white line going down the top of the dress) when she pulls it the blue dress falls and goes under the green dress and thats it a colour change! =-)

  • @GVirus14 If you look at the dress right before it changes it looks a bit baggy at the top. She pulls the top half down and there's a new dress =D

  • @GVirus14 the dress has a tear off portion. watch closely, she tears off the top of it.

  • @GVirus14 they probably have an inverse color dress for her

  • @GVirus14 if you watch slowly and closely she fastly rips the blue part off

  • @GVirus14 When she turns she rips off a bit of velcro on the top of the dress and a green skirt go over :D I think!

  • @GVirus14 She has a thin layer of that fabric attached to the top of her dress that she rips off when she turns.

  • YEY :D

  • Michael's voice was amazing - bring me the broomstick was flipping amazing.

Tin Man Scarecrow and Lion were so funny.

Beautifully amazing production. Would see it again :) x

  • Oh My Gosh!!! It was amazing truly beautiful.

  • @francescahatesally Woop I'm seeing it today to (3rd august 2011) so excited

  • I'm going to see that tomorrow with my maw and my gran.

  • This makes me happy, but sad that I'm in California at UCLA and will probably not be able to see it for many more years..

  • OH GOD I HAVE BEEN THERE.

    Best show here #fact

And the Good Witch of the North. My crush,bby<3

  • This is an amazing show!! I would love to see it.The only two dislikes of mine toward it are that they didnt keep "King of the forest" and "Jitterbug" in it. That way it would bring back the old wizard of oz feeling we all have. But other than that, this show made me LOVE Andrew Lloyd Webber!

  • on second thoughts.... Glinda and Elphaba look freaky here D:

  • I love how even though the Wizard of Oz came first everyone is just like WICKED WICKED WICKED.... it's cause it's amazing. I like the fact they look similar :D Cause it makes Wicked look more authentic!!! You can really put them together SIDE BY SIDE cause the stories go together, they don't contradict each other :]

  • @Zipateer Wrong story, I think of Wicked as an Alternate Universe Story

  • i might be coming up to see this soon. it looks amazing the set the costumes and the actors look amazing hope i do come and see this now.

  • Ummm did anyone notice anything about the Lion's member? I was not sure and asked hubby to look too and umm wow yeah enough said!

  • I wanna see it!

  • Goshdarnit, it looks amazing! My family and I were planning to go to celebrate the completion of my college course, but my mum can't afford it. I asked my boyfriend if he'd take me for a date, he can't afford it either! I was especially looking forward to seeing Michael Crawford. Looks like I might not have the chance now :(

  • this show was phenomenal! i am not just saying this. the cast was faultless & the special effects. wow! i was definitely taken away to the merry old land of oz! it was magical!

  • This is horrible... I love Andrew Lloyd Webber but ....ugh...

  • How did they do that affect for Danielle's dress?

  • Danielle is great Michael has such command of the stage and comic timing and the theatre is breath taking what Lord Webber has done is truly remarkable.

  • I'm playing the Wicked Witch in my hometown's production of this show this summer. (Well, actually, outskirts of town.) I'm so excited!

  • This show is amazing and I would certainly recommend it. As a child I always thought that no one could play the part of Dorothy other than Judly Garland, but believe me Danelle is totally amazing. Michael Crawford is brilliant as the Wizard.

  • It was amazing when I went to London to see it, and I just wasn't expecting such a thrilling time. I'm a fan of London musicals, but this was awesome. xx

  • This was an unbelievable experience for myself, daughter (age 7) wife and my mother. We were all blown away by this when we went to the paladium in April to see it. This is no way can be compared to wicked unless you just want to find reason to complain about nothing. These is a truly magical experience and took me back to my childhood watching wizard of oz on a saturday afternoon with the family. We also got photo of my daughter with Michael Crawford and Danielle Hope + Autographs :)

  • I want to see this on the afternoon, then on the same day, see Wicked.

  • Saw this on the first Saturday preview back in March and am going again on the 22nd :D Hoping Michael Crawford will be there this time because he was ill when I went last time.

  • 1:54 who is that guy?

  • @STwilightPrincess just a dancer i think

  • I am going to see this sometime in July/August. Haven't booked yet but I'm not going on a Tuesday as I really really want to see Danielle but I'm paranoid she will be ill on the one night I'm there.

  • Saw this on saturday it was brilliant!!

  • Wait wait wait!! How did she do that!??! 1:40-1:45

  • @bibibabkagirl I would think that its a reversible dress, specially designed for that scene. All she would have to do is pull on something, such as a small cord and the green would fall into place.

  • This is cool! I would see his!

  • 1:16 reminds me of chicago hahah :)

  • @TimKoopman10 OMG! I WAS THINKING THAT! THE INTRO INTO ALL THAT JAZZ! haha

  • i loved this show :)

  • I've seen this.. LOVED IT,

  • it kinda looks like the whos from whoville in seussical turned green.

  • I really really really want to see this. MICHAEL CRAWFORD is one of my favourite singer/actor.

  • so thats what they did with the rotating platform left over from Les Mis

  • @nowhereman136 They actually built the platform from scratch for this production - have a look at the other videos on their site, there are some really good ones of the lead up to previews!

  • @nowhereman136 No they didn't, haha. These productions are all custum built. They couldnt use the Les Miz one first because Les miz took it into storage and second cuz for this show they need it to move upwards, and needs coloured light pads under it to give it the yellow brick road/emerald city look. and it rotates faster too.

  • 13 days till i go to see woz cant wait :) need a trip to the theater atm 8)

  • I would love to know if this show will show in New York, and if it will, I'm am going to beg, and I mean B.E.G. BEG, my family to go on vacation there to see it!

  • Wow this looks AMAZING! Michael Crawford FTW! :D I hope this eventually comes to USA :(

  • i cant stop replay it, i think i have abused the replay button!

  • It's official! I HAVE to see this show!!! :D

  • What's the part where the Witch is dancing?

  • Michael Crawford!!!! exactly where he should be on stage in an Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical!

  • WOW the transformation of her dress is soooo good.. i cant stop replaying it!!!!

  • @moviekid1 lol I agree

You should see the wizard of oz first.

I saw wicked on 13.10.10 and seeing this on 03.08.11 and watching the wicked witch I feel disgusted lol

  • first see the show and later WIKED hahaha for look all the story

  • you do all go on about things. all of these modern day musicals are nothing more than remakes of classics. judy garland immortalized dorothy and no matter how clever the remakes she will always be dorothy, don't bother analyzing everything in these new presentations, just enjoy them. celebrate the stuff. stop picking it to bits.

  • That awkward moment when you see Wicked and then watch The Wizard of Oz in disgust.

  • @moviekid1 is it crap? Just seen Wicked and seeing WOO tomoz....

  • If you check out the website - look at the production photos there is a photograph there over Hannah (Wicked Witch) that looks similar to the cornfield catfight picture. :)

  • lol when we whent the shoe dident work it was stuck

  • perhaps the costumes look similar to Wicked's because they have parallel story lines. Did anyone ever consider that?

  • seeing this on Friday... can't wait,

    HANNAH WADDINGHAM! <3

  • Oh my god, people. There are better shows out there than Wicked. Get over it, already!

  • wouldent it be so cool to see wicked then see this?!

  • @TaylorMathews1Fan That's what I plan on doing, I've seen wicked once before. But I'll go to a Matinee performance of The Wizard Of Oz and then an evening performance of Wicked :)

  • This looks a lot more faithful to the book than the movie was. They actually have the Munchkins dressed in blue!

  • Michael crawford looks pretty good in this. When i first heard andrew was making this i wasnt that keen on seeing it. But now i am it looks really good.

  • Wicked and the wizard of oz are both amazing. I personally think that once you have seen wicked you really need to read the book. It makes it easier to understand both even though it is confusing

  • A lot of people need to realize that this is not wicked. I love wicked and the wizard of oz, but you just can't compare them to each other. Also, remember that elphie does not exist here. We have the wicked witch of the west. An actually evil woman. The sooner you realize that, the easier it will be to enjoy it!

  • Wow, everything looks amazing!!! Danielle sounds like she's got loads better since OTR.

  • I want to see it

  • Was that big high note at the end Danielle?!

  • Oh my Oz, yesssss!!! :D

  • how do they do the dress change a 1:43 !

    please someone tell me !!

  • @alexwardify It's a double dress so the skirt part of the green dress is folded up so the inside of it makes to top part of the blue dress and as she spins she pulls the blue top on the left shoulder so it falls down and the green dress is revealed. Very cleverly done

  • @alexwardify she rips the top of the blue dress at the top and it folds down into the skirt part of the green dress, so the blue dress bit is double sided that's what it looks like when in slow motion anyway

  • I HOPE they bring this show to Sydney, Australia! I can't wait to see the extra material and songs that Andrew Lloyd Webber adds, including the BOOK bits (Blue Munchkins, Dorothy's Emerald City dress ... hopefully more)!

I Enjoyed the Nikki Webster musical, the Windmill Production of 2009 and thought 'Wicked' was good but I still don't like what Gregory Maguire did or the appeal of that musical. But I LOVED the "Mary Poppins Supercalifragilistic Musical" and would Like to see this . . . !

  • the witches costume needs MAJOR work.

  • @AlwaysKeepingCool I Like It! lol

  • does anyone know the running time for the show? :) im going next month

  • @TheAllthatjazzgal Saw it last night.Show started at about 7.35 and finsihed at 11.45 with a 20 minute interval....longest production i've ever seen in the west end. You'll love it,the special effects are incredible.Fireworks everywhere holograms and illusions galore witches flying all over the auditorium spectacular stage sets great songs and music and just an excellent spectacular piece of theatre.Best value for money we've ever seen ever.Don't listen to the critics they talk nonsense as usual!

  • @jonybeam thank you ,you are amazing :)xxx

  • Glinda is PINK not blue

  • @ylwbrcboi Yeah But In the Book She's Wearing Blue AND Blue was the Munchkins Favorite Color. Serously Not Everything Will Be The Same As the Movie!! Gosh.....

  • @HardKnockLife11 also in the book glinda was a tiny role, the witch of the north was an old lady...NOT glinda

  • @Ryanlaskey True..haha

  • @Ryanlaskey True...haha

  • @ylwbrcboi IN THE BOOK ITS BLUE.

  • i'm going to London in april i hope to see this show looks awesome it was my child hood musicals and danielle is perfect for dorothy

  • Saw The Wizard of Oz last Monday and it was just great!.....The stage sets are fantastic and the Tornado scene is very clever...........Danielle Hope as Dorothy was brilliant!

  • Of course it's going to look somewhat like Wicked, they're set in the same place! But I think this production has done a fabulous job of putting a newer spin on the Emerald City. And I have to agree, the tornado looks amaaaazing.

  • It looks incredible!

  • Michael Crawford still looks/is as amazing as he was 25 years ago. I love him and can't wait to see this show!

  • This isnt wicked so stop comparing the shows

  • @bwilliam8709 Some people can't help comparing .... they have to be negative about one thing before they can be positive about anything else. Try to feel sorry for them - they are obviously too dense to appreciate more than one thing at a time.

  • @bwilliam8709 here here

  • It's very "Wicked"

  • @soylakekagalindo no "wicked" is very "the wizard of oz" this show is the original! its like saying a Journey copied Glee by singing dont stop believing!

  • I wish this was here in San Diego :(

  • It´s such an amazing, jolly, lovely show and I had to smile during the whole show!!!

I really didn´t expect that this would be so fantastic, so when I saw the wizard of oz my first time, I had to see it again right away!!

Unfortunately I´m from Austria, so I have to wait to see it a third time:((

  • It looks cool and would like to see it but i must the the ending really annoys me when glindas all like 'you always had the power to go home.......i was trying to teach you a lesson...' ¬¬

Looks good but i think Wicked is SO much better!

  • The torando looks amazing!

  • Again...what's with Glinda and The Wicked Witch's wigs? Beehives? Really? Although i like the Wicked Witch's dresses, even though the one where she's melting resembels Elphaba's dress in Wicked.

  • @kimt1987 the wigs are meant to resemble witches hats, hence the triangle shapes. and yes the wicked witches dress was very very similar to elphabas no good deed dress

  • Omg This is amazing. Wish i was in London to see this. Is there going to be a Cast Recording ?

  • I thought it looked lovely, professional... and then I saw the neon green shoe and hat... odd, ODD choice! Very distracting.

  • sorry but that seen reminds of wicked its like the exact same lol. I love the wizard of oz but i think wicked is just so much better thats what i think

  • @ThePrettypinkjen I know right! "One short day in the Emerald City!"

  • @kimt1987 I agree

  • Comment removed

  • They Should never have got rid of sister act.. for this!

  • I have seen this in London. ITS AMAZING

  • This looks a lot like wicked in the beginning lol

  • ok does this look too much like wicked well at least the emerald city I just cant watch this

  • Omg I sooooo want to go see it .. It looks fabulous xx

  • Michael Crawford back on stage!!!!!!

  • I'd love to see this on Broadway (ESPECIALLY with Michael ^_^)

  • WHY ARE ALL THE GOOD MUSICALS SOO FAR AWAY FROM ME =(

  • Bring this to New York! I would be a perfect Scarecrow!

  • This looks amazing.

  • never thought i'd say this being 2nd commentor! tihs actually looks fantastic! now I can see why the tickets are so much money! cant wait to get to see it! x

  • im sorry but if i watched this with the sound of (or at least the beggining bit) i could've sworn i was watching wicked! :P Bt i think that i shall give this a chance and watch it but wicked will always and foremost be the most brilliant (to me) musical i have seen :))

  • I actually cant wait to see it

  • looks far better than any other show i've seen. I WISH! I could see this! Gotta save up to get my ass to london! I'm going this sunday but the show isn't open is it?

  • I can't tell in the twister scene at 0:36 if Dorothy is insde her house or trying to open the front door to her house.

  • OMG! Look at the dress change at 1.40 HOW AMAZING!!! Apparently it cost £5000 :O

  • Would LOVE to see this! Too bad I live in NY!

  • @SierraArielBoggess Haha, too bad I live in RUSSIA ;))

  • Love Glinda's costume!

Although, Emerald City costumes are...pretty much identical to Wicked's? Is Susan Hilfery getting credit for them, or something? Wierd XD

  • i love this :) hope to see the show again soon!

  • I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS!!!
