  • try kyrie elison divna ljubojevic and you will hear sweetest ,gentlest version of that song.

  • dose monks are evilz

  • Beautiful chant! this is the best version of kyrie. The book is much better than the movie. Of course the movie has a happy end.

  • Two Words! Umberto Eco!

  • The story in the film of a book that killed everybody who tried to read it.Before the monks

read a book and put their finger on the tongue.

The corners of the book was poisoned.

  • They chant `Kyrie Eleison`, the Greek - Byzantine prayer meaning `Lord, have mercy`

    Penitendiagite= `Penites Diagete` , also Greek,meaning `make way for the poors`

as explained by Umberto Eco himself

  • Actually, it's "Penitentiam agite!" => "Make penance!"

The calling card of the heretical Franciscan schismatics.

  • aff

  • salvatore is eretico

    PENITENZIAGITE

  • Thanks for posting but I wonder if this is the movie of the same book by Umberto Eco?

  • Yes it is, starring by Sean Connery, Christian Slater, F. Murray Abraham and Ron Perlman as Salvatore.

  • A lot of this movie is ladened with Esperanto. As is the Da Vinci Code

  • Not these are the best, but they sing in the chapel.

Don't you know, what is the chant they sing at laudes, before they found Venantius? The name or the text?

  • They are singing :

    1. Urbs Jerusalem beata, dicta pacis visio

    2. Quae construitur in coelis vivis ex lapidibus,

First end second versus again (bis).

    3. Et angelis coronata ut sponsata comite.

There is one more versus(4) but it is being sung in background and I can't understand it.

  • also sampled in Lustmord's Monstrous Soul Album, track title "The Fourth and Final Key"
