  • rock n roll nerd!

  • Nu metal is the name of the amp model on the Vox...not the playing style. lolz.

  • ma quale minchia di nu-metal??? Put the guitar in you ass.

  • First, we need humbuckers... -.-

  • yeah this isnt nu metal and he's soloing like patiam1969 said thats absoloutly untypical for nu metal :D

  • thats not nu-metal....... he's soloing......;-P

  • @patiam1969 absolutly there are no solos ;)

  • Chris Impellitteri, Yngwie Malmsteen, axel rudi, Dave Murray, Matthias Jabs you know guitarist from the scorpions all play strats. you dont need a duel humbuckers to play metal, alot of metal players prefer strat type guitars because the neck is thiner and doesnt feel like your playing baseball bat. also the single coils usauly have more top end due to some signal cancellation found in alot of humbuckers. the top end is perfect when you need to cut through the drums and bass.

  • @Shinybulldozer i am very sorry... like very very sorry... but strats have way thicker necks than suoerstrats for example... in fact their necks is very far from being thin...

  • @Shinybulldozer i am sorry but strat necks a very far from being thin... very very far... especially compared to any modern superstrat guitars

  • @SergeyEremeev i meant "are very far..." ))

  • He's clearly demo'ing the setting. The stuff he's playing is way too advanced to be Nu Metal. He's doing blues/rock stuff on a strat which is coloring the tone alot. The strat just makes everything sound like a Vox lol.

  • why would you play thrashy nu metal riffs on a strat that has a versality just for blues and cleans?

  • @emoboi311 He's doing a demo of the amp setting.

  • @emoboi311 I also just realized your name is "emoboi". Wow.

  • your playing is great..the guitar too...but this distortion sounds like SHIT!

  • god people can be dumber than.. wow i cant think of anything stupid enough to describe whoever didnt get the fact that he was checking out the nu metal setting in his amp and tho those idiots who say you cant play metal on a strat....

  • I agree wit ShadowofATheory, btw please don't try to play metal on an stratocaster duuuude!! O_O

  • @DUDEFROMDUTCHLAND you know killswitch engaged their first album was done with a fender strat

  • @A7xMATTa7x1

Dude, doesn't matter what killswitch engange is using.... It's just a fact that you can use the fender strat. better for blues and jazz or pop. Ibanez or LTD are better metal-guitars

  • @A7xMATTa7x1 lol... just because that's what you see them use in early music videos does not mean that's the a guitar used in the recording process. I'll bet you a doo rag and a 40 they both used neck through, and active electronics.

  • @theinfernalhess i'd be stupid to take that bet, i'll admit that much

  • I glove Stratocasters, great for insane distortion, especially Morello

  • Metal is a genre, not a tone or a guitar, Idiots

  • @Uhmsters do you know what a troll is? or how about a douche nozzle.

  • Sounds paul gilbert-ish

  • john 5 uses single coils...the dude from slipknot uses single coils...i personally would use a les paul and a marshall...but strats and teles work too...

i gess it depends on u'r taste.

as for me...gibson rules distortion...but, if i want a completely clean sound, i would have to give the edge to Fender.

  • @slashngibson wich dude from slipknot? one of them uses a tele, but hes has EMG humbuckers put on all of them

  • Why does an amp have a nu-metal setting?

  • I play metal and learned on an old strat, nothing wrong with metal and single coils, they sound great, so all you fags who are saying crap, your idiots

  • is this nu metal? LOLLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @Meatlooaf

THE SETTING ON THE AMP YOU FUCKING DUMBASS

TRY TO READ BEFORE YOU POST

  • Paul Gilbert fan, I'm guessing. :)

  • Face the power and potential of the Stratocaster and Vox!

"do not even try to play metal riffs with single coil pick-ups! :D

    It's like rally with a school-bus." - poor man -.-'

  • go fuck ur sefl thats not nu metal u suck man!

  • @antichrist07comrad its an amp setting you fool

  • @pieman963 i know the guy suck playing bitch

  • @antichrist07comrad It's only the name of the amp model...anyway nu-metal suck

  • @valdakus yes i agree with u i rather thrash!

  • this isn't nu-metal. nu metal doesn't solos or anything high pitched therefore making it suck

  • I didn't Know Buddy Holly

    Had a Grandson O_o

  • 40's metal.....

  • Hey Hableflu, just kickin this out there. Malmsteen plays with single coils on a strat, and clearly he's horrible, oh wait.... This dude has some serious chops in other demo vids of this amp, credit where it's due man

  • do not even try to play metal riffs with single coil pick-ups! :D

    It's like rally with a school-bus.

  • @Hablefiu

I run a tele with rio grandes and an EMG afterburner into an egnater amp. Output wise, that guitar will walk on even the heaviest of metal guitars, and it's surgically precise for fast aggressive riffs. Strats aren't that great with single coils, but don't think that's the end all of singles.

  • @Hablefiu You think you can't play metal with single coils? Check out the video for One by Metallica, Kirk Hammet plays the entire song with an ESP Strat copy, with single coils

  • @Noseheros yeh use the second or fourth pu position for high gain, cancels the noise. I get a decent sound especially with a boost pedal.

  • @MrROTD or if you have noiseless (I have fender vintage hot noiseless) you can use whatever you want...as long as the pickups can take it and the EQs right it'll do fine

  • ugly guitar ugly sound

  • Comment removed

  • @danikorn89 the amp setting he is using is called Nu-Metal, he didnt mention playing nu-metal.. besides, its nu-metal so who cares ;)

  • Doesn't sound like Korn,Limp-Bizkit or Staind to me which is a good thing. I had a tonelab and i got some pretty convincing tones out of that thing, fooled many tone snobs with it. I want that player's strat. That's one of the two i want. the other's a Sienna sunburst HSS Deluxe American with maple board.

  • NICE!!! but single pickups aren't too good with metal tunes :(

  • it dont sound right

  • Sounds good mate. I wish I had half your chops. I'd be happy with that.

  • My mother grows a dick before this is nu-metal.

  • @Blader999

nu metal sucks anyway. Justin Bieber is nu metal

  • por que le pusieron NU- metal??????????????

  • Best genre ever. nice job man

  • its nice, nu metal its not

  • Comment removed

  • LOL This Is NOT Nu Metal!!!! XD...Not Even A Clue...

  • @TiANr0ckst4r nu metal is the name of the effect of distortion, don't refer to what the guy plays, this effect is included in the Vox Valvetronix amps.

  • nu metal???? xD

  • i was thinking, naaah this cant do metal, watched this creamed my pants at the awesome metalness and changed my mind ;)

  • people people... he wasn't playing nu metal but he was demoing nu metal effects

  • in which input cu plug the cable?

  • New Metal? I think not

  • cool beans

  • YAY i love old guitarists

  • Sounds better then my AD100VT EVER did. I couldn't ever get it to sound not muddy.

  • HAHA! how can you make good comments on this **** ^ ^

First of all nothing to do with nu-metal

Second crap sound - sounds like a cat who screams. PAIN IN MY EARS

the riffs dont even look like metal or sound like.

get a metal guitar dude^ ^ that would be a greeeaaattt start

  • @grqnni Given what he's using i'd really like you to try and do better.

  • nu metal ??

  • Forgot about this vid! Damn, those pickups sound wired hot!

  • Next step is playing death metal on a telecaster! :) Keep rockin, you style is awesome!

  • @erickchba2 Haha John 5 does that kinda

  • sounds sweet :D

  • sick

  • don't think nu-metal can be played on a stock strat, some kinda humbucking pickup, maybe a rails

  • Nu-metal is the name of the setting on the amp. I know because I own one. So, everyone chill out.

  • sounds like Deep Purple too me ..

  • NOT FUCKING NU-METAL!!!!!

  • well, in my opinion these licks _are_ Nu-Metal licks.

But finally it´s not only the guitar-style which makes Nu-Metal out of a piece of music, there are lots more things you have to deal with (Djing, Voice, Drums, whole equipement and way of doing).

Anyway. This is a 5Stars-Vid for me, watching his fingers and thinking "wow" great style, different style, so much possibilties.

    Greets, DeepPurple

  • God Dammit...

  • THIS IS NOT NU METAL !!!!!

  • you have to be the dumbest fuck in history to say that after all these comments, oooh this is not nu metal what a fucking clever way of saying you're as dumb as a flat tire, motherfucker...

  • @GambitTD Do u have some mental problems ?

  • there are different types of strats u morons

  • Damn most you guys are fucking retarded, its the amp setting not actual "Nu metal" riffs

  • @ShadowofATheory ....... Man..... Why showing a characteristic setting if you're not even playing that genre? It's pointless and stupid... And this isn't even close to a Nu-Metal setting.

  • You guys crack me up.

  • so the type of music is defined by the instument u play? :/

  • @EyeYamAffaKingWeTodd

Now that is a stupid question...

And I think that I don't even have to answer it

  • well u said it don't sound like nu-metal beacause he's playing a strat. u sure its not just the way he plays?

  • @EyeYamAffaKingWeTodd

Buddy please read my comment again...

i said "this guy is soloing and nu-metal is all about rhymes and palm muting"..

All afects the sound: the way he plays, his equipement etc

  • i know. all im trying to say is that stats can be rather versitile. im sticking up for the guitar not him. but yes u are right all afects the sound. all good

  • @EyeYamAffaKingWeTodd try playing nu metal on the organ or on a grand piano!

  • @remotecontrol1324 wow that is one of the gayest things i've ever heard any one say... "he doesn't even put his guitar in drop d"

drop d doesn't make the riff sound any more like nu metal. all it does is let you play the D and D# note an octave lower, and it makes it even easier for metal playing douche bags to play power chords.

Also, it's stupid to say you can't play nu metal on single coils. it's all about how you EQ the amp and what effects you use. the type of pickups barely do anything.

  • @EuphoriaMusicSession

Bloody hell you are a moron! So if he can play in the D he can make "Heavier" rhymes that is what nu metal is most about...

He can! But simply he isn't going to sound like the tradicional nu metal sound because single coil can't handle the highgain like humbuckers...

  • @remotecontrol1324 dude i'm telling you. Drop D tuning does not effect the tone of the guitar at ALL.

yes the brand of pickups will make a difference. obviously if you wanted to play metal you would pick EMGs, but you can still play metal with vintage noiseless. trust me. i have a tele with FVN's and when i run it through a good stompbox into a good amp it sounds like a schecter.

oh and don't call me a retard. i've been playing guitar since i was 9, i know what i'm talking about.

  • @EuphoriaMusicSession

I not saying that drop d affect the tone, I am say that by instead of a low e you going to have a d note so it will sound lower and heavier... And gives you the possibilty of making d power cords for exempl.

What you can do with vintage pick ups is use something to "camuflage" the original tone of the pick ups for exempl a bad effect processor or a shitty stompbox... That way you can make a singe coil sound like anything.

I wish I start to play that young, you re lucky.

  • @EuphoriaMusicSession The type of pickups barely do anything?! Are you retard?! because after the amp the pick ups is what causes big diffence in sound... you can play jazz with emg or death metal with true single coil but it will sound like shit!

  • nice!

  • lol its funny reading all the haters' comments "this ain't nu metal!!" lol, its the amp setting.

  • I bet he can play metal better than any of you haters can play blues etc.

  • god you people are haters... and nothing worse than a person who wouldn't like something even if it's good starts making points... look, that really wasn't nu metal, but it was good, but it was twangy, and true, with the solos... why are they even a part of this..? on a different matter, it reminds of brainiac, so it sounds like it's not really taken seariously, maybe you could have alterd it to say heavy metal? i mean you already do solos...

  • Well . . Someone with blues/hard rock influences can't really improvise a nu-metal riff . . .

Plus, these guitars give twangy sounds.

And he played the nu-metal setting, noone said anythinig about playing nu-metal(which is not all that good anyways)

  • got a nu metal sound but where is the plam muted riffs, sick solos this is fucking bluesy ????

  • that's why its called nu-metal

  • A little too twangy, maybe the single coil thing,I like a creamier distortion.

  • nu metal riff? lol

  • Oh, God! It's not a Gibson plugged into a Marshall stack! Let's all flame this shit! motherfuckers.

  • @MykeMetyll Hvad med en gibson sg 1968 model to a marshall stack?

  • it sounds like cheap preamp tubes. rcas would wake ot up.

  • oh god I hate vox! I have vox da5 and it's as shitty as this combo. the distortion is no use for anything. ok if u want to play it in your bedroom than the sound would be ok but when u try to record it, it just sounds so terrible. yeah because it is terrible.. if u want to play anything but clean than don't buy vox. even the xl series isn't good. if u want a good metal sound buy bugera. it's a bit pricier but so what.. it will be 20 times better sounding and u could easily gig and record with it

  • Recorded my vids with a Vox Xl (AD100VT) really, sounds great to me. Same for the distortion on it, if you don't like 1 of the distortions, who cares, you have 10 options anyway :) Don't believe me, watch the vids and talk again about how recording doesn't work with a vox (no effect pedals or what so ever)

I think it's you really that sucks, im guessing that you don't know how to alter the settings so you get the sound you like.

if the presets aren't good enough for you, then you dont like it?

  • Im guessing that that's why you called your account 'StupidMusician' :)

  • too much twang for true metal, get some Jackson Dinky, hear daath till slipknot for some months, then try your "nu metal" vid again.

  • Don't be such an idiot.. one of the guitarists from Slipknot uses a Fender Telecaster you fool ahah!

  • Yeah, his name is Jim Root by the way, and he plays a telecaster because he is also in Stone Sour you fool!

By the way, Mahagony-body and EMG´s give you a DREAMFUL sound when it comes to metal OR softer apects like in Stone Sour.

Its called versatility, now stfu noob.

  • Well you fool it's completely modded, get your facts straight

  • @readyornotuk

jim has humbuckers in his fender and it sounds NOTHING like any other fender

  • very good man !

    how long have you played?

(sorry for my bad english , i am french xD)

  • i like distorting strats too! Rock on man, you're rhythm playing is awesome.

  • Please get lost.

  • @rotren this is not nu metal, i dont know what you have been smoking. id like to know who supplies you with weed.

  • what the fuck is your problem douche bag! go sod off you prick!

  • i dislike this tone but this guy is really cool, he plays all kindsa music

  • people need to stop hating this guy likes his amp and digs the strats single coil tone if every1 plugged a led paul into a marshall there wuld be no versitality so shut up and listen to the guy play jeeze

  • Horrible sound!

  • You need a pedal for Metal I own a VOX 100 like this and it's perfect for my style hard rock but if I was doin metal Id get a Pedal of some sort.

  • this amp sounds so much better with humbucking pickups, its just not for the strat

  • im not a fan of single coils either, unless if your playing blues then singles are good for that, but not metal

  • i was in a band and the guitar player had had the same vox and he kept it on nu metal, one of the reasons i quit because his tone was god fucking aweful. vox sucks

  • How does this amp work with wah pedals? With and without seperate distortion pedal between amp and wah.?

  • i hate that tone so much

  • Maybe with an other guitar it would sound great

  • actives sound killer on these amps

  • i have the 30w version and i love this amp i replaced the tube with a 12ax7b silver dragon and it added a lot more crunch

  • i am going to buy the 15 watt version my teacher gots one of those dont know how many watts i love it

  • amm....

    its not bad....

but I think its not for nu metal....

    but good tho...

  • Gosh, this guy could plug a guitar into a hooker's cooter and make her sing like an angelic choir.

  • the amp setting is called like that. its not actually nu metal xD

  • it's a model of a mesa

  • Man thats an ugly strat.

    I want it!

  • Not nu-metal, but damn good playing as usual! ( I don't even listen to Nu-Metal though) Is the modeling amp/effect on the amp called Nu-metal?

  • yea, the settings name is nu-metal :D

  • YOU ARE F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!!!!

  • Decent playing, but its just rock not Nu metal.

  • hahah at least the old fellas havin a go

  • My God..Ampeg VH140 C go get 1 now

  • i've heard no nu-metal here o_o

  • anyone knows the eminence "the governor"? i can´t decide between the wizard and the governor. which one is better for metal/downtunings and my engl savage 120?

  • People saying you can't do metal on a Strat want shooting. With the right pickups, the brightness of the Strat can stop high gain tones from descending into awful muddy sounds.

Iron Maiden use Strats in metal, and they do metal better than anybody.

rotren is easily one of the best players on Youtube. Great video as always!

  • Sure but they use humbuckers... this sounds more like fizzy and thin distorted single coils to me.

  • yeah, bands like Oceansize or even some King Crimson take advantage of the strat and telecaster sound to contrast with the deeper Les Paul tone. you're really limiting your sonic range if you're playing exclusively with humbuckers.

  • that is not numetal

  • and thank God!

  • holy shit, how the hell did you get that much gain? And what kind of pickups are you using?

  • Holy crap give this man your money

  • i thought it was an ok tone but it wasnt very nu-metal playing... hahha

  • Thank god for that.

  • nothing heavy, vox is shit for metal, strat is shit for metal(need mahogany or basewood)

Try ENGL,Peavey (evh signature),framus cobra, randall, krank, diesel or other hi gain amps.but just not vox

  • you forgot mesa or even marshall but we get your point though.....

  • This is fucking heavy !!!!! But only for Vox

  • u also have to take into mind that hes using a strat which is not a metal guitar at all

  • not nu-metal and the tone isn't that good..

but i gus if you don't fully know what tone your looking for its hard.

  • You mean the compressed recording's tone isn't that good. Adopt clarity please.

  • do you even know what nu metal is

  • nu metal ????

  • please post a tabbbbbb
