Because it is a new age fad. There is nothing for it to rail against, once punk got accepted it was destroyed the same thing with the first hardcore rap groups. two types of music thate were against something then became part of what they fought against. The new bands and new age of punk is cute and acceptable. Its part of the plastic fast food culture of suburban America. There are still some good new bands out there but more or less the general perception of it is pop rock now

pff,nobody founded punk rock, punk rock just evolved I'm sure there were plenty of bands other than the really popular ones of the time (the pistols,ramones etc) that played more punk-like music. I think the evolution of punk probably started with Johnny Cash, not to say that he was a punker, but he was definitely the single-celled organism that would one day mutate into punk rock.

Punk was NEVER glam rock. I have no clue what would have ever given you that idea. Punk was actually the birth of the independent music scene. No punk rock band I have ever seen or heard has performed "glam rock". Independent music may have some pop elements, like my personal punk favs the Ramones, but has virtually nothing in common with glam rock.

MC5 and the Damned and other pre-punk bands. Personally I dig the Clash more then the Ramones, Pistols or Iggy, mainly because the Clash had a kickass message and their music varies some instead of all sounding alike.
