@NICKSmyNAMEbitch sorry but neither an LT1 OR LS1 is gonna go much over 165mph stock. the power just isn't there to overcome drag. hell, a C5 Vette tops 168mph, a C5Z with 405hp tops 171mph. it's all about overcoming drag.

@recniabsal iirc a LS3 SS topped out at 172mph.

ya that seems to be about in the range of 150-170. can never really tell on youtube vids without comparing to multiple stand still flybys of bikes and other cars. should've tried to get a camera taped to the steering wheel and hit record @ 170 to show proof to everyone here.. i got a lt1 z28 and been up to 158 before a cop caught me.. slammed on the brakes to turned into residentials to ditch him..(gotta love friends wholl let you hide your car in their garage while it's still hot)

Both the LS1 & Lt1 providing they aren't ragged out will top out @ 163mph. My 98-Z has 272 gear & will hit 163 at 6,100 RPM in 3rd gear with a 4l60E. I doubt in this case he was running 170 but if you remove the speed limiter with a programmer I don't see why it couldn't. I can't remember the mag who did ut but they took a 3rd gen Camaro and ran 200MPH with exactly 300HP. I'll look for it and post it.
