It's mainly a mental illness /depression caused by SEVERE trauma. The trauma is suppressed in the deep recesses of the mind and the outward signs are self mutilation.(which is what this is)

That might be the reason in the beginning. At this point I think she'd rather have people stop noticing her and for that wants to get back to healthy. She obviously lost control and from the way she behaves I think her brain also isn't working very well anymore because of the malnutrition.

I cried when I saw her. I blame Hollywood- they put these images in our girls heads like this is okay & its not. Something is wrong when women are killing themselves to be thin. If we want change we have to demand it - we control what they make by what we pay to see. The all mighty dollar people- use it

I wouldn't blame Hollywood for something that only some people do - if Hollywood made us sick, we would all be sick then. It's not men's fault, it's not hollywood's fault, it's not media's fault... you have to have enough intelligence and understanding and you'll be fine. If everyone was that weak minded and even cared about all the loser celebrities. I'm not going to say that everyone who's anorexic is influenced by celebrities. Theres a whole list of reasons why people find the need to be deadly thin, and influence by the media is definitely up there.

@savedbykatie so true!!! its disgusting. Moreover all this 'show' about being anorexic gave me the impression that it was desirable to be so thin when I was a kid...like it made you something special. Most documentaries are made somewhat like that, while they do not educate about what is important, like the reasons for that illness, or steps in recovery or help someone recover at all.

It's mainly a mental illness /depression caused by SEVERE trauma. The trauma is suppressed in the deep recesses of the mind and the outward signs are self mutilation.(which is what this is)
It's so easy for ignorant people to misunderstand and say "snap out of it!" or 'It's just attention seeking".
Anyone who suffers even mild depression will know it's not something we CHOOSE to do. This poor kid is LOCKED into a nightmare scene of mental suppression.

The starvation is a SYMPTOM of the illness rather than the CAUSE. The CAUSE is that her brain is in self destruct mode. Maybe they should try hypnosis? Hopefully they have. I really hope they can help her.

i know its terriable, anorexia not just affects your health but your brain, it's a mental illness aswell as an eating disorder. when she looks in that mirror her mind is telling her she is fat. its so sad, i do hope she recovers
