I'm not sure I can see what was vandalized. Was the crypt broken into and the coffin opened up? I looks like the coffin has been pried open. Was there anything stolen from it?
The same thing happened in Oakwood Cemetary in Waco, TX in 1968 right around the corner from out plot. It's an old cemetary, dating back to 1876--this mausoleum was almost exactly like this one--with the bars and stained glass panels. They were wealthy people and the coffin was removed from the place and opened, but there was a glass pane over the body which had not been broken. When it was put back, solid concrete was put in place of the gates so it can never be used again.
There probably looting crypts for jewelry, like gold that can be easily pawned or sold to a jewelry store for drug money. thats what instantly comes to mind anyway..
Im not sure, several other mausoleums in the cemetery have been targeted, tho this one is the only one where the crypt was broken into. the cemetery is surrounded by bad neighborhoods
