  • I always wondered how old some of these girls really were. I don't think they're quite as young as some people thought-I remember Dominique Mocianu, and she didn't look 14 but she was. I wonder why they changed the rules and made it so they had to be at least 16? But if this girl wasn't 16, I can't imagine she was that far off from it. They showed birth certificates, but the only ones I guess who will ever know for sure is her and her coaches & family

  • she looks like she's twelve.

  • Wow she so good she makes it look so easy TT.TT jelousss

  • Wish they would pull the whole age limit thing. If they're good enough to compete at this level then let them compete. Who cares how old they are.

  • @armywifeftbragg

b/c if you push a child too hard while still growing the long term physical consequences are horrible! By forcing them to take it slower you are preserving their bodies AND encouraging them to have at least SOME semblance of a childhood.

  • @capscoach Uhh most junior gymnasts are just as good and younger bodies are less prone to injury. Nastia Liukin in 2003/2004? Shawn Johnson 2006? Vanessa Atler at 14? Shannon Miler at 14? They were all great at 14 and managed to have long careers excepting Shawn. But when any of them were injured, it occured to all of them as older athletes. They'd have more time to compete injury free if there was no age limit, it's super unfair in gymnastics.

  • @bernardmvella

not true...that much pressure in your body at a young age is not good...all doctors say so and the number of adolescent orthopedic injuries is on a huge rise as kids get more and more competitive at a young age...for every gymsast that you reference there are TONS that never made it that far because of injury...ideally a gymnast should reach her peak between 16-18. Also that hard work load stunts a girls menstrul cycle and causes calcium deficiencies

  • @bernardmvella

And Nastia Liukin was injury riddled throughout her career...shawn johnson was at her peak at 16...just because young girls are CAPABLE of pushing their bodies doesn't mean they SHOULD.

  • @capscoach Maybe these talented young women should retire and play video games and eat Cheetos, Chocolate and pizza and develop like most American teens... I would rather my children take pride in their hard work and abilities then to DESTROY their bodies buy living the "American Dream".

I suppose Steven Hawking's should stop thinking too?

    Your sad Bernard... Madoff?

  • @gordon2191 yes...because it would be impossible to find a healthy middle between over worked child and obese video game loving teen. When I have kids I plan to have them involved in physical activity and a healthy lifestyle but not push them past their physical and emotional limits.

  • @gordon2191

and FYI...annorexia and Bulimia will destroy your body even faster than obesity will...and so many of these gymnasts start cutting back on food develop eating disorders very early.

I worked with an 8 year old gymnast who was already diagnosed annorexic

  • @capscoach... So what you are saying is that eating disorders involving less then 10% of juvenile female gymnast is an epidemic? Nationally, that is about 1600 out of 16,000 registered juvenile female gymnasts nationally? We have over 40,000 juveniles in the school district in the city I live in and of that 40,000 students, 40% are obese and another 26% are overweight.

Your concern is the 1600 gymnasts and not the 26 MILLION obese children in the US? Wow Bernie...

  • @gordon2191

no...what I am saying is that I think many gymnastic training facilities don't prioritize the childrens physical and emotional well being. For every girl that makes it to the olympics hundreds are left behind due to injury or not quite being good enough...and they are taught that they are inferior and should be ashamed. These girls are pushed past their limits (in many cases) I find that abusive. the rate of orthopedic injuries in children has sky rocketed as well a depression

  • @gordon2191 last thing

don't make a comment about a sport a political comment. Disrespecting someone's country doesn't make your point more valid.

  • She was 14 years also He Kexin... :) She is very very STRONG . You are AMAZING Deng Lilin !

  • see 0:19 -0:23 waw...

  • I love her layout! :) so high, so amazing!

  • 0:20 hosofan hosofan tink te-ofan HAHAHAH

  • i love how i can understand what the commentator is saying and she's all "STAND STILL!...goooddd"

  • stop at 1:04

    amazinggg

  • @Lilhoney22100 wow! I did and it was beautiful! full split and really high :)

  • :D can't wait to see her in 2012. She'll be amazing i bet.

  • Comment removed

  • she gets high

  • i was amazed with her cause she was brand new but she still kept her composure really well at the olympics!

  • that backflip at 0:23 was so freaking cool and beautiful! the rest of of it was pretty gymnastic soldier :P

  • how old is she??????

  • These commentators are killing me! especially when she do tumbling and they r like WAAAA....0:23

  • 1:18 HOLY SHIT

  • I like this routine....she is so much better now..and it shows

  • He Kexin and Deng LinLin both look so young! ecspecially He Kexin!

  • That was a very fast punch front !

  • The layout was the higher I've ever seen!

  • shes so fast

  • haha..thats my high school jv mount:) lol

  • he form is incredible i cant do that on the ground not to mention 4 feet in the air on a 4 inch peice of wood

  • other than that 1 big wobble this was much better than her gold medal routine

  • they make it look so easy and fluid...god that's so amazing!

  • if you pause at 0:22 her layout is insane! shes amazing :)

  • i like her name. lol

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow genial :)

  • i wonder what her score would have been if she connected her front ariel to her back tuck cuz she obviously (sadly) didnt get connection for that :(

  • O.o I .....am...wow...that layout is fantastic! I keep playing it OVER and OVER again....perfection! I have NEVER seen a layout done like that....like an ACTUAL layout on floor.

  • her spin is only a C, .3

  • The sequence acrobatic was PERFECT , one of the best if not the best sequence acrobatic in these Olympics! Wonderful! xD

  • GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the spin is only a C!!!!!

  • wow, such a strong performance for such a little girl, well done deng linlin

  • whats the skill level for the required full turn?? some commentators call it an easy skill, but everyone seems to wobble on it a little bit!

  • i love her :D she's amazinngggg :D

  • only 1 little slip this girl is amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think that she was underscored on this

  • Not a very good commentator

  • I love her layouts. They're flawless.

  • lol the chinese announcers are hilarous

  • @baseballrox03 haha she's actually a former gymnast from CHN....she moved to HK to teach gymnastics.

  • @curmeow wow cool! thanksss whats her name?? do u kno?

  • 琳琳加油 您是中國體操的希望。

  • she looks small

  • How can you determine this? Are you a dentist? No.

  • It's Ksenia Afanasyeva at floor exercise in the background in the end :)

  • So you're just jealous that they look so young. If, as you said, she's 12, then it just makes her even more talented, no? and how can u judge by the physical appearance? the Chinese are born shorter than western people! She's 136cm! i checked, she just turned 16 in April 2008, before the olympics. beat that.

  • Where is the coreography? It is great when it comes to do the acrobatic element but where are the nice movement? Or it is only me who likes to have some nice coreography on beam as well... maybe bit oldfashioned but still....

  • how old is she

  • @MRdavenport2010 and you would know how?

  • To MRdeaven: Linlin Deng was born on April 21th, 1992!

I cannot believe some Americans are still spreading rumors about Chinese girl's ages and pouring dirty water on these beautiful lovely gymnasts. Did these gymnasts do anything to harm you? Unbeliable mean-spirit from these people. Just see how Chinese public treat American gymnasts like Johnson, you can tell who are more civilized (type "hall of fame shawn johnson" to see the video clip).

  • Excellent work from Deng Linlin, she did a great jop at worlds in London.

  • She is sooo cute :)

  • 1:15-1:19 nearly had my breathless.

  • wow amazing routine

  • WOW!!! she is so good and so cute!!

  • amazing saves....

  • you trying doing a layout at 3 or 4 years old. do you even know what a layout is? :)

  • pretty good i have seen better routines from her

  • ahh, her tumbling is clean but she had a lot of "woah woah" moments if you know what i mean. still a very nice routine. i love how even when she loses balance she remains calm. that was always my problem lol, shes cute too(:

  • She's amazing! her layout was the best I've ever seen =)

  • @busho that was unreal, most people pike it as they land, but that was gorgeous.

  • @busho - It is, but in fairness check out (if you havent seen) Natalia Lashenova's layout from the late 80's.....performed after just a handspring! she had springs in her feet for sure !

  • @garyj79 Jiang Yuyuan does it just after a handspring, and I think Catalina Ponor too, although Ponors never looked as 'easy' to me, unlike the rest of her beam set.

  • she is so cute! :P Not to mention good ;P

  • Neither did Ksenia Semёnova or Koko Tsurumi....Yes, she is, and she was never suspected of being underage. There was never documentation or any evidence, concrete or not, to suggest otherwise in Deng Linlin's case. You can't judge a gymnast by whether she "looks" underage. By that standard, half the field would be disqualified. :-)

  • @auswriteratheart Shawn Johnson hardly looked 16 either, especially next to her team mates. One or two of the Romanian gymnasts were tiny too.

  • Linlin is so cute !

    She must in 2012 ;]

  • o mi gosh that was awesome

  • why come she didnt get into the beam finals...she is one of the best out there

  • Cos Cheng Fei and Li Shanshan were in the finals.

  • I love listening to the Chinese language when it is spoken. The Japanese Language, too.

  • the language spoken here is one of the dialects in China, it is Cantonese.

  • this is cantonese. it's a chinese language but not the only one. :)

  • she has the highest back tucks and layouts

  • Nasiir48 : Shut up you racist pig. No ones perfect

  • that was HUGE

  • china my favorit team in gimnastic

  • i luv this routune!!

  • Nasiir48: NO Chinese is messy on beam! If you think Deng Linlin is messy on beam, you should first check Americans on beam. Sac just waves her arms purposelessly, no flow, and has poor form. Liukin crosses her legs and feet all the time.

  • russiagymfan, i think nasiir meant that they are messy in that they wobble too much

liukin has ONE skill on beam where she crosses her legs. how does one skill = all the time??

(unless of course you are speaking of all the events in general.... well then there are plenty of chinese who cross their legs too, e.g. li shanshan, jiang yuyuan, he kexin, sui lui, etc

  • watch the americans feet && toes && legs though....feet & legs crossed, and toes not pointed. the americans are good, but the chinese have better form and technique.

  • GO CHINAAAAAAAAAA

  • How come its score could not reach 16

    so pretty work

  • my first comment=)

    she is an amazing gymnast.

go china!!! they deserved to win.

  • Wow her layout was so high!

  • Chinese girls look younger than white people at the same age, it is quite normal. You can watch Japanese AV, Japanese girls also like quite young.

  • Deng Linlin is NOT a twelve years old girl, she is 16! Some Americans always tell lies, just like they created a lie in front of the whole world to start Iraq war. Too bad that Deng is not big and fat!

  • I'm not an American. But if she is sixteen, I am a big fat man.

  • She was 15 in 2008, 16 in 2009, that is legal.

  • you would only need to be turning 16 by the end of 2008. Deng linlin was born on the year of monkey, ie 1992. She was 16 in 2008. She was quite short and recently, she has grown taller as found out by the reporter, more than 140cm. Looking at her current picture, she is just slightly shorter than jiang yuyuan. I myself was only 149cm at her age and I wasn't even a gymnast.

  • Thanks.

  • How come she didn't make it into any EF??

  • the other chinese girls had better qual scores than she did.

  • oh, thnx for tellin me

  • there was a series that she failed to do and that was one of the reasons why she didn't make it to EF:( I'm sad for her..!

  • WOW! What was her A score?

  • 7.0

  • Best Layout ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So true!!!!

  • not as annoying as your comment

  • she got such height on the layout!!!! for such a small girl!

  • @YeEunFan247. I agree, although it is really very high for any girl. You get higher off the beam when you are smaller.

Does anyone know why COP changed again? She got a 14.725 or something at Worlds this year because her SV went down.

  • I totally agree her balance checks makes her look immature... but, not only this is a incredible routine, there are thousands of experienced gymnasts with horrible balance checks all the time too :S

  • yeah this is so packed

hopefully over the years she will become more stable

  • damn she had a jam packed routine

  • ela faz a sequecia acrobatica com um mortal bem esticado...

    boa essa série.

  • nobody under 16 works beam this well

  • Wow, then you must not be a gymnastic fan. Because if you were, you would have seen the greatest gymnast of all time, nadia cominici, who was only 14 when she won her gold medal, including on the beam.

  • well, considering the movement from the 70s to now in terms of difficulty, deng linlin works it with such ease. Nadia worked her routine with such ease too, but the routine was considerably easier

  • you said: nobody under 16 works beam this well

    And i said Nadia Cominici.

So i dont even know what this new post is supposed to mean. And neither do you, or else you would not have said, "nobody under 16works beam this well." Realizing that Nadia was 14.

  • Right, but I think you missed the poster's point. Nadia won her Olympic golds at a time when the sport was considerably easier than it is today. Nadia didn't have to compete layouts or tuck fulls on the beam.

  • yea props to nadia for her scores, but obviously difficulty has heightened considerably. and i'm pretty sure czucksk understood what they were saying ;) mainly because they're correct

  • czuzk is right in what he/she says... the difficulty is extremely high now a days, much higher than when comaneci scored her 10s, but also, you look at linlin and u cant help thinking that she looks too young to be there. The blance checks and hand flicks that finish each move arent that of a typical olympian, and to me make her seem very childish and out of place amongst the others. Going on dificulty, i agree she holds her own though

  • fantastic!she maybe small,but the most powerful!

  • No He Kexin is the most powerful. But Linlin is the mentally toughest of the girls.

  • anyway, i love both of them.

  • i don't think shes 16 no way but i really don't mind either

  • Deng turned out to be the real star for the Chinese in the team competition. I was surprised she did 3 poeces of apparatus after being the 6th member. She was super!

  • cilipadi! :)

  • WOW! she has the BEST layouts on beam I'VE ever seen!!! certainly allot better than shawn johnson's!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think if they didnt have that 2 per country rule she would have been in beam finals... heck, al the chinease girls would... cept for kexin.

  • one the best executed double pikes!

  • You maam, are one stupid Bitch. It has been proven that Lilin in fact had her tooth. It is stupid Americans like you who embarrass the hell out of me. Probably one of the fat-lard ass teen-age who knows that a lil Chinese girls can runs circles around. Do us our nation a favor, and just STFU. And go wash your dirty belly button!!

    P.S.

This ignorant hussie, does not speak for all Americans.

  • damn

  • moosegirl69: in case your eyes have glaucoma, u better check with the eyes specialist in USA, otherwise u will loss your vision and can't see & watch any gymnastic competition.

  • okay chong lang sang whatever your name is. i dont even know what youre talking about.

  • there is a picture on gymworld forum, showing her tooth was crooked inside. Check it out.

  • Yah, actually you are lying. Her tooth is pushed back, we call it a snaggle-tooth in America. So get your lying piece of shit ass out of here.

  • why she didn't made ir to the finals?

her routine is better than cheg fei's

    her routine is awesome

  • she had a couple of wobbles in the prelims. A6.900 B 8.65 totall 15.55. She placed 9th in prelims. But every nation can only send two athletes for one apparatus. Her A score is 6.9, higher than Cheng Fei's

  • stunning layout in the beginning. I love how she puts some arm motion in the combination. adds a little bit of class. no way she's sixteen though... phenomenal performance nonetheless.
