  • LEBRON CANT JUMP 48 INCHES! the highest vertical in the league is 43.5 from nate robinson

  • @MadMunchies5 i think lebrons was 44" a i swear i've seen a few clips when lebron was almost eye level with the rim

  • @tee23en his vertical inst quite 44" even though he has probably has jumped 44" on a fast break when his adrenaline is pumping. but according to ESPN lebrons vertical is just a little north of 40" so probably somewhere near 41-42".

  • @MadMunchies5 a few sources say 44

  • @tee23en Lebron probably doesn't even jump as high as he used to

  • @bigbuzin555 ? why is that

  • Lebron gets his head above the rim he does have a 48 inch vertical check out this video

  • @badpdx remember spud was short as hell bro that's pretty good height for him

  • All of you need to stop riding LeBron's dick. This is a Clyde Drexler video. Respect a legend.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=J9vO8o-zL_Q

That's about as high as you're ever gonna see someone get. But he's the greatest dunker ever so it's hard to count him.

  • Vertical leap is measured two ways: running and standing. In both cases, you measure how high a guy can reach on a wall when standing flat footed, then how high on the wall when leaping, and take the difference. Even great leapers can only jump up about 33 or 34 inches from standing flat footed. Drexler was one of those guys.

Guys like Spud Webb and MJ could get up about 45 inches with a running start. Lebron 43 or 44. Clyde about 40 in college, 38 in the pros after his injury in 85.

  • @badpdx - I was watching the NFL network and they were measuring the vertical jump by having the player jump up and touch a short bar that was perpendicular to the longer bar that had the inch marker on it. I only saw the tight end from Notre Dame Kyle Rudolph do it and he did it while standing. This looks pretty accurate but if a player is feeling kinda springy that particular day he reaches his already fixed goal then he will have to repeat his jump again ! Could tire out a guy who hits goals

  • id say shannon brown has the highest vertical in the nba and he probably cant jump 48 inches and lebron damn sure cant

  • He was a beautiful dunker. Not a monster dunker but let's just say "Clyde the Glide" was a perfect name.

  • stupid dwight cant do it and he can?bullshit

  • if tdub was clyde's height he would probably touch the top of the backboard pretty easy.

  • Vertical is vertical, everyone tests it differently...STANDING vertical is no steps, but to see how high you can truly get you either do a drop step or run and jump off one foot, which ever way gets you to your maximum level. Stupidest thing I ever heard "vertical is no steps"

  • Clyde is amazing!

  • Is that Chinese guy a vantriliquist?!

  • People think Jordan is like a god of the basketball but the truth is when it comes to fitness and athletic skills there have been many like him or even better. I always saw Drexler as a player similar to Jordan, Jordan was more aggressive than Drexler but Drexler jumped as much as Jordan or maybe even more. Dr. J could also smash de basket from the free throw line without running from the other side of the court, and Jordan had to run from the other side of the court.

  • @telemakhos31 you know what you're talking about but jordan made his shit look better he was more graceful like a ballerina

  • True verticals of NBA superstars, based on my own investigation: 1. Michael Jordan-45 inches. 2. Dominique-40 inches. 3. Julius Erving-38 inches (plus 5 inches of fro). 4. Vince Carter- 42 inches. 5. Kobe Bryant-37 inches. 6. Lebron-41 inches. 7. Clyde Drexler-38 inches. 8. Allen Iverson- 42 inches. 9. Spud Webb- 48 inches. 10. Shawn Kemp-37 inches 11. Scottie Pippen- 40 inches 12. Magic Johnson-32 inches. 13. Brandon Roy- 40.5 inches 14. Yao Ming- 7 inches.
  • @GracebeNancy :

Lebron is not 48 inches. 43 maybe.

He's 6'8" tall. A basketball hoop is 10 feet tall.

That means if he jumped 40 inches off the ground, his head would be level with the rim. (6'8" inches is 80 inches. 120 inches - 80 inches = 40 inches.)

If he jumped 48 inches, that would mean his head would be 8 inches above the rim. He would basically be chin level with the rim.

I've watched a lot of Lebron footage, and he's never been chin level with the rim.

  • @badpdx he can touch the rim with his chin douche

  • @badpdx lebron has been chin level with the rim...look at his slam dunk contest from high school 2003 mcdonalds

  • @bigjrome42 the highest he got on any of those dunks was about an inch from the rim with his head...remember to take into consideration camera angle and the angles they showed straight on to the rim, the top of his head was 1-6 inches away from the rim on ALL dunks...

  • @badpdx Type in "how high can lebron jump hq" and see if that is close enough.

  • @badpdx

How about that one? v=WNOOoZZB9BY He didn't even jump straight to the basket, I think LeBron is able to touch the top of the basket. His arms are long enough. It might be close, but I think he could get it when he's all warmed up.

  • watch his HS Dunk contest..

  • @badpdx Lebron James doesnt even have a 40 inch vertical. His elevation is not that high.. hes tall as hell is what it is. Vertical is no steps.. not even a drop step. Lebron cant get head high to the rim with no steps

  • @atl2maryland He doesn't have a drop step.

  • @atl2maryland there are many types of verticles and the one u r talking about is a stand still, there is also a running one which benefits one foot jumper which is wat lebron is if u watch the all star game his last dunk his head was about 3-4 inches above the rim

  • @badpdx at the 2009 all star game he made an alley oop dunk at the end of the game .. there is an angle where u can see that his chin is at rim level

or put in youtube "lebron james insane vertical" there he catches a pass from mo williams and he is almost with is shoulder at rim height

  • @badpdx i agree with you on the dunk footage.. but whatyou have to remember is that on dunks no players reach their full vertical coz they have to focus part of them on the dunk.. eg dwight could easily touch higher but he had to think about the dunk aswell..i have seen a few sources say lebrons is about 44.. but one clip where he catches an attempted lob pass.. makes me think otherwise..his chin is literally level with the rim.. if your interest type in lebron james in sane jump or something..

  • @badpdx

He can get his forehead to the rim when hes attempting a vert

  • @badpdx Plus he's not a vertical leaper off two legs either.

  • @badpdx youtube.com/watch?v=PX990fnB6i8&feature=related

  • @badpdx /watch?v=F1-YcD5pQXQ He got chin level but that was from running. I think he would be 44" normal.

  • @badpdx well u havnt seen them all cus there is this vid where he went for a alley oop and his head was way above the rim the commentator stated it might be shoulder level

  • @badpdx plus u forgot to count his standing reach when his arms are fully extended

  • @badpdx yes he has and y would he be jumping all out every play you can get injured too easily

  • @badpdx have you seen the rebound where his shoulders were at rim level? im pretty sure that added atleast 10 inches if not a foot lebron deffinetely has a 50 inch or more

  • @blazecyberman He looks to be about 3-4 inches above the rim in that video. Not the first view but the level second view.

  • @fhendrickspt watch this /watch?v=WNOOoZZB9BY&feature=related lebron jumps at shoulder level with the rim he is the most athletic guy in sports today

  • @blazecyberman The first is shot is an inaccurate camera angle that makes it look like his shoulder is at the rim. The second camera angle is legit and looks like mouth-level. Like I said, /watch?v=J9vO8o-zL_Q is about as high as you're gonna see. Waaayyyy better jumper than Lebron. Lebron is still a beast and one of the top athletes though.

  • @badpdx umm the one terrible pass by mo williams, that he caught with one hand? i hate lebron james.. but thats just a fucking lie..

  • @badpdx LeBron James is 6'8 its amazing how he can even jump that high

  • @L3g3ndkill4: this is true.

  • lol.. B Roy @ 40 inches? LMAO. Bro, I'm in Portland too, trust me, Jordan was around 40 inches, VInce is definitely about 40 inches, Lebron the same, Yao about 3 inches, Kobe about 36" - Clyde about 40"

  • you are talking bullshit. who are you to quote there hops? drj 38 ??? drex 38?? nique 40?? no one respects this fantasy

  • boombox:

My calculations come from watching hours and hours of highlights from all of these great players.

All you have to do is figure out the height of the player, find the highlights in which they jump the highest and which feature the best angle, and do some simple math.

For example: I've watched probably every Dominique dunk that ever made a highlight reel. The highest I ever saw him get was about an inch below the rim. Since he's 6' 8", that would equal a 40 inch vertical.

  • Post your sources.

  • I have no sources. I'm just messing with people.

However, I bet I'm pretty close on all of these.

  • @badpdx There is a guy who has 50 inches vertical jump. His nickname is Golden Child, search for him in youtube. Also, Stephan Holm hurdles training is amazing, he must have like 60 inches, vertical jump, watch it in youtube.

  • I'm a huge Drexler fan, but no way could he touch the top of the backboard.

His vertical was listed as 43 inches, but was probably closer to 38.

He could dunk from behind the free throw line, though. That's the truth.

  • the weight of the ball??? ur a retard! the ball weighs very little, around 12 ounces... so a ball isn't gonna hinder ur jumping at all.

  • @Chelle976 A basketball DOES lower your jumpiong ability but not so much because of the weight of the ball but because you can't jump with the proper technique that you would use without! For example, swinging your arms from low to up gives you better results.

  • I'm going to find out who jumped higher Clyde Drexler or Dominique Wilkins back then. I've been looking at the top 10 dunks of Drexler and Wilkins pausing at the height of their jumps and where they took off from as well. It's hard to tell. I'm going to find out on paper if I have to. I'm determined. LOL

  • Clyde is one of my favourit players and dunkers, but I don`t think he could jump that high to touch the top of the backboard. But try to find his video from the series Top 10 greatest college dunkers and there is one dunk where his head is at rim level. His vert is listed as 43 inches.

  • fucking shit

  • its true nobody could fly higher than drexler

  • Not even Dominique Wilkins? (Crickets chirping) Are you sure about that? LOL

  • @paultommy2 T-Dub.

  • clyde also dunked on a rim set at 11'. But that was when he was like 25yrs. old,he always had crazy ups. Most of his dunks were done off one leg.

  • lol this makes me laugh .

clyde cant get anywhere near the top of the backboard yet even dunk with his eyes in front of the rim hes kidding himself .

  • r u retarded?

  • no more than you

  • My Rodman comment was CLEARLY a typo in which I meant to say Harper, thus the reason I erased it. I know when the hell he came to the Bulls, but since you've been DYING to FINALLY get something on me after being OWNED so many times, go ahead & run with it..

"ask him if their are white people in africa"

Yes, they are , but that's NOT what I asked U in the conversation so stop lying. I said whites AREN'T indigenous to the continent, which they aren't.

  • 3.6 meter = 11.811 023 622 feet

  • earl "the goat" manigault....thats the highest leaper of all time...read the book about him or watch the story of him..

  • drexler sucked in the dunk contest

  • This clip sucks. I don't know what Clyde talking about

  • 1.shut

    2.the

    3.fuck

    4.up

    5.nobody

    6.cares

  • shit my friend wrote that shit

  • clyde could do that shit he cold

  • Hes talking about touching the top of the backboard on a toy r us hoop

  • he aint never did that,if he did,he would've showed it off for the world to see,I mean they were only televising all of his games

  • haha you are so dumb, you think that the greatest player in bball is the player with the highest vertical?? Than you must think that James White is the greatest, look it up on Youtube.

  • Yes James White could be a hall of famer at his prime if the coaches give him a chance to play every game and be in the starting line up.

He just got re -singed 1 year contract by the Rockets and now that they don't have star players it's impossible not to get this dude in the starting line up.

Michael Jordan was the highest jumper in the league at that time 48 inch running vertical.

I understand the fact that balling is a part of the game but that's not enough.

You need to work at your sports!

  • jordan did not have a running 48inch vert. that equals to 4 feet. which would put jordans head at 10'6''. jordan can not get his head 6 inches over the rim. no basketball player can

  • Yes there is.

He's 6'1" and he could touch the 13'.

It's the world record and he's the only one who get it.

He plays basketball he just lack opportunity to play in the NBA.

I think he made a team and in starter.

Look what they've done to Von Wafer.

It doesn't mean they're not great.

They could be all star they just lack opportunity not skill nor athleticism.

Everybody could play the redneck easy game of basketball.

  • who are you talking about that is 6'1 and gets there chin over the rim? that would put them at about a 60 inch vertical. who is this basketball player?

  • He's the only one who touch 13 it's world record he's 6'1".

  • what is the guys name then? because this is BS, he would have to be working with close to a 60 inch vertical. so what is his name?

  • Just search it.

    "13ft touch"

  • i can't find anything on somebody 6'1 touching 13ft sorry. link it or it didn't happen. and dwight howard and Lebron would touch 13 with out breaking a sweat. did you see howard in the dunk contest dunk 12 without trying? and lebron already said he can dunk 13.

  • actually, both of them said they cant even touch 13. some reporter tried to find someone in the nba who could and they both said they couldnt

  • its not even an official 12 ft. and when did lebron said he can dunk 13 ft? thats the equivalent of a person at 3'9 dunking on 10 ft dumbass.

  • chill dude, go watch the dunk contest. after dwight dunks it on 12 afterwards lebron says next year he is going to be in it and he also says he can dunk 13

  • "jordan did not have a running 48inch vert"

    Hmm...is that right?

    vertcoach . com/highest-vertical-leap . html

Hey take a look at what they have "on file" for MJ's vertical leap..

  • so you honestly think with a running start jordan's head got 6 inches over the rim? 48inches equals 4ft, add that to jordan being 6'6 equals 10'6 lol. sorry if that was the case jordan on a regular basis would have been dunking way behind the foul line even further back then james white. not to mention snagging rebounds up near the top of the backboard. sorry get realistic.

  • Then present some "evidence" that states to the contrary & not just your opinion on the matter..

  • At UNC, a study was done on him to measure his vertical. Here's the results:

"Vertical reach displacement during a jump from running 45.76 in.

Vertical reach displacement during a 1 hand dunk 41.70 in.

Vertical reach displacement during a 2 hand dunk 40.93 in."

    That was at UNC!

After weight lifting in the NBA, SI did an article & measured his new vertical at 48 inches. His 40 speed went from 4.4 at UNC, to 4.2 his 2nd & 3rd seasons in the NBA.

So where's your evidence that says otherwise?

  • physical evidence proves otherwise...as kobeandgary brings up a good point that a 4ft vert would put jordans head 6 inches over the rim...show any sort of pic or video of his head getting 6 inches above the rim and thats all the evidence we will need

  • I don't have the physical evidence, but the people who actually "measured" his vertical at that time, would be more qualified to assess what it was, thus the reason for their findings.

All of the articles I've EVER run across regarding those who've measured & commented about his vertical as a young player, ALL give pretty much the SAME finding: around 46-48 inches in measurement.

I mean damn, the site I gave U lists his HIGHEST touch on the backboard at 12'5 inches LOL!!

  • yes he touched 12'5", and he has an 8'10" standing reach...that means 3 feet and 7 inches difference which is actually 43 inches...43 makes much more sense considering he could get his head to rim level and not 6 inches over...

  • well the thing is i don't even think they measured vertical leap as part of the combine in the early 80s when this would have been documented. second, you're gonna be hard pressed to find any picture where jordan is jumping as high as he can because when he dunks it's impossible to reach your maximum vert because of 1) the weight of the ball in your hand and 2) how your jumping and vertical momentum change when dunking.

  • the weight of the ball would take prob about an inch or two max off...so just look for pics of him in dunk contests where he is not contested

  • In 1988 NBA SDC MJ did reverse one handed dunk, when he had to duck his head not to hit the rim. And besides, it is some difference to make a few jumps without the ball before the season starts and dunking during the season, when muscles are doing some big job few hours day by day. He is not a machine.

  • You can't actually believe that study? It is in no journal, paper or anything associated with UNC. The ONLY place it has ever appeared on is forums. Nowhere else. It is about the least formal presentation for an alleged "study" I've ever seen.

  • james white doesnt have the best vertical. kadour ziani or someone from team flight brothers has the best.

  • yeah white is to tall to have the best vertical. but he might have the best running touch. i think he's about the only guy that jumps from behind the foul line with two hands

  • "13ft touch top of the backboard" click the first resolt

  • clyde drexler is a living legend. he's talking about a portland dunk com where he dunk an 11 foot 1 inch baskt.

  • yeah but 11 isn't much to a dunker, kobe, lebron, jordan, vince. would dunk 11 no problem. i wouldn't call him a legend either, he's never gonna be that top tier player like Kobe and jordan. i think leged is just overstating him a bit.
