Moment from my childhood. I'm so happy I found a clip of Placido!

He IS the reason I watched Sesame Street! I'm 22 now but when I was ages

3-9 watching this really set the tone for my life. If Placido was on again, ohhhh

I dont know what I would do....

By far Placido Flamingo is my favorite character on Sesame Street..

And its not even close....

I remember this one and the grasshopper version as a kid. Sorry Placido but a spider is not an insect.

I was waiting to find a post by someone who would point this out! I thought of it the first time I saw it when I was twenty-two years old! Maybe this is why he changed from using the word insect to the word bug. I am not sure if scientifically, a spider qualifies as a true bug. If anyone out there knows, I would be very interested in reading a post from you!

No a spider is not an insect nor a bug. A spider is an aracnid the same group that scorpions'mites and ticks belong to.

At one point, I heard it been said that all bugs are insects but that all insects are not bugs. Might you know eactly what makes a bug a bug and not just an insect?

Sorry for not posting the answer sooner as possible but my computer broke down and it needed fixing. Bugs belong to the suborder Heteroptera. They look like beatles but suck liquid food up through a tube behind the head and the nymphs resemble the adult closely in form.

This isn't the only time Placido did this song. After his "Perfect Thing" opera, he did it with a Muppet spider and grasshopper. In that instance, he uses the word "insects" instead of "bugs". Does anyone have that by any chance?
