I was under the impression he was fired over arguments on songwriting credits.  He may have quit but from what I have heard he was going to get fired anyway. So you may be sorely misled. Fired, quit doesnt matter Mr. know it all. Disagreements happened and he was out anyway. He never would have won with Mick and Keeef.

Mick and Keeef railroaded Mick Taylor like they did Brian Jones. They were not about to share the billion dollar empire. They wanted to be another Lennon/McCartney and any threat to that had to go. Ron Wood has kept his mouth shut or he knows what will happen. After 25 yrs they finally allowed him membership in The Stones club.

There is a difference between being fired and quitting, but as Obama says, let's concentrate on where we agree. I agree that Taylor was railroaded. Wood, about a quarter of the talent that makes Mick Taylor one of the most underated guitarists in rock n roll, likely does know his place. But don't you think the band has sorely suffered, musically, as a result? With the exception of Some Girls, and maybe Steel Wheels, most of their post Mick Taylor offerings have been pure shit.

Kind of like Don Henly and Glen Frye firing Randy Misner and Don Felder to hang onto their billion dollar empire. Egos, power and the love of money and greed does this to so many. It is really pathetic. They have enough money but just cant let the music be the guide. Lennon/McCartney did it to George and Pete Townshend did it to John Entwistle and Daltrey. Although Daltrey was not a song writer he was an integral part of The Who. Pete had to let everyone know he is boss.

I agree . I love to listen to the Altamont version of "Sympathy" . Although not a big fan of the song, It's the crunchieness grittyness,sloppyness,whatever people want to call it,of that Live version thats so great.

@LUCASFR0 Jagger wasn't meant to sing in synch to the albums. He can hit the notes in the studio but his gig is having as much fun with the audience apossible. That requires a LOT of energy and you just can't duplicate the same sound as the studio version and who wants that anyway. It's supposed to be a PARTY!! If Celine Dion had to run 10 miles a show you can bet her voice would be shredded in 30 minutes and cancel the tour. Jagger does it for 2 years and peole criticize?
