You don't need to try HARDER, you need to try differently. Every kid with FASD I have known have a certain way to do it, and then most of it clicks. Repetition, drawing it out, being physical with it. Every person labeled with FASD is not going to FAIL, every single one of them can do the same things 'normal' people do, just differently. Keep it up, don't EVER give it up.
