We need the new Macgyver for the sake of young kids. They need a non-violent hero, in the same way my generation idolised Macgyver. This actor should come from the Mid-west, be tall, athletic, a survivalist, has nice smile. In his late 30's as SAMM was born 1973 (if I recall the Macgyver time-line).

Producers, please, let's get on with this.

I am glad this did not ever get aired on television. The original series was done to perfection (despite the last two seasons starting to have things get real silly) and does not need anything added to it. I remember the TV show indicating that Angus MacGyver had been an only child- so I do not see how it would have been possible for him to have a nephew. If they had to do a show about a younger relative, it should have been his own son Sam (Sean Malloy) who was introduced in the final episode.

This would have been the perfect tv role for Jared to play a young McGyver ...sorry but him playing Sam Winchester is just lame on the part of the writers.

What is said in the 'Young MacGyver' pilot is that MacGyver is Clay's uncle. And since MacGyver is an only child, my guess is that they're like family, but not blood related. I'm sure that if a few episodes had been produced, they would have come up with some similar explanation.

I totally agree; he does now. But there's no reason to try to revive it if the writing didn't improve since the production of this pilot. However it looks like NewLine might be interested in producing a MacGyver movie. How funny would it be for Jared to appear in it somehow? No script nor director for now. I guess we'll see.

But I guess if a few episodes of Young Macgyver had been produced, it would have been explained that the terms uncle/nephew weren't to be taken literally in this specific case (but more in some kind of sentimental level, you know?). That's the only logical thing I could think of.

It would have been awesome if a show like this were to be based on MacGyver's son. This looked promising though... I hope they do come out with a new macgyver but hopefully it'll make much more sense and be a little less cheesy :P
