George i say go for it ;) If it was super mint id say leave it alone but all sounds good :) By the way if cant find cases you can use General Electric 3-5804 cases they will fit and those radios often come up on ebay cheap ;) The idea of the Power Socket is kewl and i think they only put the 5 pin din on in the first place to keep it an affordable radio so go for it with the 4 pin ;) Like the idea of the green channels and the dual coloured meter Colt 444's had those. Looking forward to part 3
@Joloke08 It may be a while down the road though jodie. It will get a bit a bit done every now and again in between everything else thats going on here. Not too bothered about the cases. i'll make 'em if i have to...
@jtravis1964 Hey man. Thanks for the offer. Those would be way too big I'm afraid. I have loads of that size here. if the worst comes to the worst I can make some, I can get access to a press brake and get some sheet metal and make 'em....Chat to you soon on Snake Radios website....
don't take advice from people saying throw it away, it's a nice little project. yeah, change the power jack to 3 pin and the mic socket to 4 pin. In my opinion, you should leave the channel display stock, but I'd say change the light behind the meter to a bright white LED. 73s all the best.
@pepsiholic2008 Well mate, I dont really do standard you see. As for the heckler davenpaula...I dont really take comments very serious from someone who don't even have any videos up on the YouTube.
@davenpaula If I wanted your expert advice as to how much it was worth, I would have titled the video "How much do you think this is worth?" If you had bothered to watch all the first video you would know I have it since around 1985, so it has sentimental value to me. If you don't have any thing useful to say don't say anything at all....ok? Or you'll find yourself blocked.
