Thanks for the vid. Am taking a spontaneous road trip in 3 months so just starting to look around. I had a '73 Ford Econoline had a 302 and was amazing but sad story. Anyway did you mention the gas mileage and I ', and airhead? I'm also wondering howu it would be without the mid seats? Just gonna be me and no hurry. Could be a cool camper? Thanks again fir the info!
Nice Van man! I got a club wagon too, but with bigger engine. Your damn right no one beats a van, and no one beats the ford vans... I made just a few months ago a roadtrip trough complete North America and: Not one problem on 13.000 miles. just awesome. I love my Club Wagon, not even a Suburban can beat that!
i had a 79. conversion. swb 351. had a fridge sofabed and the moodlights as well as the 70's era shag carpeting lol. the darn thing is STILl running today. after i put 125k miles on it. already having 150k plus.
Hello - I am into shooting BUT I am in need of a van. I also believe in helping out God's less fortunate 4 legged creatures. I have a Yellow LAB & also an Orange kitty Cat my wife found. A van like yours would be perfect. However, I would prefer a 6 cylinder engine as I only drive in town or on the hi-way. Nice informative Vid. THX. Sincerely, JAMES.
@buzzclark honestly go for a v8. because the 6 sounds betterr, less to get her going, BUT more to keep it htere. whereas, the v8 costs less to run overall
i think that bed came off of a conversion van coz club wagon did not have a bed and yea man it was sad i saw a conversion van 89 nice one geting killed then i saw a green 95 club wagon geting killed there all on youtube
o and i forgot to say do you know what sad is when usa was doing the cash for clunkers just think how many ford club wagon they killed and conversion vans so sad if you look up on youtube you see it man
@JohnFromSpace yea man but the thing is that my girl firend grandpa siad to me that conversion vans are alot of money the best thing to do is get a club wagon or a cargo van then work it up from there lol but he never did a ford he did the g vans ha for me i like the ford so much beter they are so comfortable its not even funny some times when i go in one i feel like sleeping that how comfortable they are lol but i am a ford fan when it come to truck so you did the best next thing buying a ford
I would of loved a Suburban but it didnt compare to a van in terms of how much it can hold and how comfortable a van is. I think vans are underappreciated and people who have full size vans always seem to love them.
I mean damn this thing came with a pretty nice size bed. It's not halfassed or anthing it's an actual bed! I know its not 500 horsepower but its a bed so it's better! Maybe I'm too enthusiastic about having a bed in my vehicle =P
Funny thing is I bought this this for my Daily Driver and i love the thing now! Most comfortable vehicle I ever driven. I'm going to paint the back windows where the bed is I took the middle seat out and I'm going to put a TV and maybe a fridge in this thing =P
@JohnFromSpace lol if i got the club wagon i take everything from the back all the seats and i start everything all over i go out and find a conversion van and take the bed from it put a nice tv lol
I want to paint the last 2 windows where the bed is so that when I go on road trips and take a nap the sun isnt glaring down on me. It feels to open and airy with all these windows know what I mean?
I'm definately hooking this thing up with more road trip friendly features!
I think every normal person on earth wanted to live in a van. Nothings cooler then a full size van. You're even more normal if you want to live in a van and have a Corvette =)
Craigslist is a goldmine were you live my friend but not here in florida, I have been searching for a mustang GT, let me tell you, Molested engines, high miles, complete junk. :(
@JohnFromSpace Hell ya, i knew a guy with one who put some cheap knockoff flowmasters, sounded just like a mustang lmao. hell you might get a little better gas mileage 2!
For a baseline I got 13.5 MPG, Then I added Mobil 1 Advance fuel economy oil, Removed the restriction from the stock intake and added 2 cans of Berryman fuel injector cleaner, I'm up to 14.2 MPG and a few days ago I put in a K&N filter and next time I fill up I'll see if I get more improvement then I'll put the compilation on youtube.
Hey!! Nicewagon. I like this things as well but i will never get one. I never carry anything else but myself. I like the color. Would you fix the scratches and put new wheels?
You know what; this would be a very interesting strip project. Turbo or supercharge this and go for 15s or 14s and leave everyone with the mouth shout!
Thanks bud. You know I actually like how slow this thing is, It was raining a lot the other day and this thing is so underpowered it doesn't even spin the tires in the rain. Thats pretty weak!
I just want to do some small tweaks to improve the 13 miles per gallon average im getting and just take care of it so it'll last as long as possible. I'll probably get a TV and a fridge for it. Gotta have those in a van =P
Well, when you have this ride with the stuff your're planning to put in, post another video. And yes, the 13 mpg should be improved!! Now i'm trying to guess where do you have parking for all the cars you have now !
I'm just like you. I like drawers and stuff in otherwise lost places. And I agree for cupholders on american vans and trucks, I have 5 places but 6 cupholders. That's a clean 1992 btw
Yeah I ALMOST like the Nissan Cube because of all the storage compartments. Well thought out then I remember what it looks like on the outside. If your going to drive a box you might as well drive the biggest box around
Yea i agree with you when you were talking about the quiteness of your car. i have a 01 grand prix and it rattles quite a bit but is a nice car. i also drive a 1991 ford explorer and its very solid and makes almost no noise on bumps and the road
I like the astro because it has more room but i don't know if i want a rear wheel drive one and it's bigger than the minivan... i can't decide. Which do you like? I don't want a round minivan like a 96+ i don't like the round ones
I am SO GLAD you put a video of this up I LOVE VANS! I want one SO bad! I either want a dodge caravan or a chevy astro i can't make up my mind which. If i get a caravan/voyager i want one of the 1st gens probably like an 88 or 89, i would LOVE to get ahold of a turbo one.I might settle for a '91-93 but i can't decide if i like that or the squarer ones more! But if i get an astro anything in the 90's will work.
@Declipse16 You have the exact same mentality as me man. Im not a fan of the "space ship" vans. Previas, newer caravans nissan quests etc. I would wouldnt be happy driving a spaceship but I'm proud driving a box =P
I was considering a 1st,2nd gen caravan and Astro but the Econoline was just has way more room and I couldnt pass it up.
I would of got an Astro though if I found one in AWD.
Nice to see that people appreciate vans what do you want one for?
@JohnFromSpace I just want one because of all the room they have in them and they're SO comfortable. Also i wanna keep stuff in all the storage compartments :P that's the main reason i want one is because all the places to put things! And i wanna put a fridge and either a tv or little tv's on the head rests in it depending on what kind i get, and a mini fridge. I am also gonna put curtains up in the van i get :P i need to save some money to get one but i really can't decide on what kind!
Vans are awesome man possibilities are endless with a van. The good thing is they aren't cool like SUVs so they arent worth anything. Thats a good thing for people like me and you with a vision
@JohnFromSpace OH I KNOW they are all so cheap! I'm thinking i kinda want an astro van now more than a 1st/2nd gen caravan/voyager, mostly because there's more places to put things in them and i think that's fun :P i wish the 1st gen caravans had more storage compartments...
Its simple, go for the bestdeal/best condition vehicle you can find. I was open to getting a 1st/2nd Gen Caravan,Astro or any fullsize van. In my area this Econoline was the best deal.
Since Dodges have shitty transmissions though try to find a Caravan with a recently repaired transmission. I was finding a lot of those. That way you'll know the transmissions good for a few years
@JohnFromSpace Yeah the 91-93 had the shitty trannys i think, one of my minivan friends told me which transmission is the one to get if i ever get one that needs it replaced. i found a real nice caravan ex with the 3.3 liter and it had red interior and was fully loaded for $350 but it needed the transmission and i don't have enough money for a new one since i'm only in high school. that's what's pushing me away from those caravans, but a first gen i'd love.
good lookin van and that interior looks really really nice, btw have u ever thought about selling your old regal wheels? I am in the market for some like that, 9 spoke or 6 spoke, doesn't really matter my 17"s on my 96 regal are just too big looking and they raise my cat about an inch and a half
@JohnFromSpace i actually haven't used craigslist yet but thats probably where i'll start looking now, you can't really beat 4 rims and tires for $100, i hope i can find something similar, i wouldn't even mind gtp wheels like yours or maybe even olds intrigue rims or something along those lines
nice man!! Cool church van, you can do some nic unchurch things w/ a bed! LOL. I like how someone already posted a vid of mine as a response!! thanks whoever did that!! Now you need to find a model of this to match your vette models!
We'll since it isn't perfect I don't mind slapping stickers on it so everytime I get a new gun I'll put the sticker it came with on it.
I might add a bullbar, gotta find out what kind of rim lug pattern it has if it has the same pattern as the big ford SUV's I'll slap bigger tires on it. Maybe put a ladder and outside spare tire carrier.
Its gotta have a fridge and TV too. Thats a unofficial van rule.
Let me just say: I really enjoy watching your videos. Doesn't matter if they are about unspectacular cars or stuff, like this one. Please keep doing them from time to time.
I miss vans like the Econoline over here in Europe. In Germany we pretty much only had the Volkswagen T-Series (the T3 was all around on the streets in the 90's when I was a kid) while you Americans had those awesome trucks with the big engines. Can't believe you paid only two grand for such a well-preserved van. Good catch!
@schlafanzyk (uploader) Thanks for the kind words. I noticed when people in Europe and Japan get a hold of these big vans they really go all out and fix them up really nicely.
I think the Ford Transit is a great idea but for all around usability you really can't match a full size van.
@JohnFromSpace a table closet and fridge? damn that must have been one hell of a setup. haha ours wasn't quite so fancy but it had some neat little things here and there. BTW i had no idea there was a trucking game for the dreamcast. that is cool, i wish they would do an exclusive 18 wheels of steel for the PS3 that would rock. even a multi platform just as long as they do it.
Lacks in cool factor but beats everything in the practicality. I guess I'm getting old and my lifestyle can use a van now =P.
I got a few videos planned for it. If there are people out there who want Ford Econoline videos they'll get it. I didn't think my 3800 videos would get views but my 3800 modding videos up to like 20,000 views so if there are Econoline fans its their lucky day.
Thank you for putting this video up. i have been a Chevy guy for as long as i can remember. but we used to have an 88 Ford Club-Wagon conversion van. that thing was such a beast. i miss it to death, thank you for showing me a brief memory of some great Child hood road trips. hope you enjoy that van. take it easy man.
Vans are a big part of my childhood too man. When I was 5 years old I would go with my cousins on road trips and they had a 1985 Ford Econoline. I remember it perfectly too. Crazy how you remember specific things in your child hood.
