Yea, it is cute but it is a predator. If it was near a house as it sounds that is scary. It will kill and eat anything it can, even a child. Keep wildlife wild, do not feed it or encourage it to approach a house again.
even a coyote, certainly a more docile predator, will kill anything it can, note it can, to survive, I have seen them try to take down a cow, we have lost many calves to coyotes. Even people are prey to coyotes. If wolves were more populated they would certainly prey on people, especially dumb ones that invite attack.
well it will kill anything it can if it NEEDS to... i thought you meant that it would randomly kill anything.. sry i thought you were one of those people who thought wolves were killing machines...
@spankysmith1959 Actually, wolves tend to avoid people when they can. There are very few documented cases where a healthy wolf attacked a human. A healthy wolf would only attack a human if humans have been feeding it (intentionally or unintentionally) or if they felt provoked by said human. Also, a wolf would only attack if they saw them as a food source. The same goes for any other potential prey animal. As long as bodies are kept out of reach of wolves, the wolves won't see humans as prey. con
@spankysmith1959 (con) Wolves tend to prey only on animals they were raised on. They are typically reluctant to try hunting new animals since they don't know anything about them, but would if they were deprived of their normal prey.
I do agree with you that wild animals should not be encouraged to approach humans. Wild animals are wild, and though we like to think we know everything about them, they can still be unpredictable at times.
@spankysmith1959 lol They're not all dangerous as you make them out to be. There are wolves who don't mind humans, they're just defending themselves. That's why I love wolves; they're beautiful and misunderstood. And there were wolves who got around my grandma's house, they don't like to be approached though and they're actually scared of us. =P All they do is rummage then leave.
And the following is a WOLF, just like the animal in the vid is a WOLF.

I am sure that the National Geographic photographers know better than you and your mommy what a wolf or a coyote looks like.
Out of both of us, you are the one who seems to be able to confuse a wolf witha cat. Do your research before arguing, because otherwise you soundsimply ridiculous. I did myresearch. Nothin else ican do 4ya
And who told you that, I wonder, your mommy who knows even less about wildlife that you? But fine, since the concept of "research" seems unfamiliar to you, I'll make it easier for ya:
THAT is a coyote. And NOT the animal in the vid.

Well, maybe what you are seeing in your yard are wolves. Seriously, look a coyote up in the encyclopedia before stomping your foot like a little child and claiming anything, because you obviously do not know what you are talking about. That is A WOLF.
wolves are not even found in the area that the video was taken !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you really wanna pretend its a wolf than go ahead and be ignorant!!!!!!! hell why dont you just say ur dog is a wolf as well? Better yet say ur cats a wolf! LOL
*eyeroll* Well, I am sorry to hear that you are that dense. How do you know where this video was taken in the first place? Or are you going to say that it was actually YOU who filmed it? And how can you know there were no wolves in that area? Especially since you don't even seem to know what appears in your OWN backyard. You know, you remind me of those parents at the zoo who kept calling wallabies "baby kangaroos" despite the fact that a sign nearby CLEARLY read "wallabies".
what the hell is your problem sister? MAYBE U SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH AND RESEARCH THE EASTERN COYOTE WHICH LOOKS JUST LIKE WHAT U ARE SEEING IN THAT VIDEO! NOT ALL COYOTES LOOK THE SAME THE EASTERN COYOTE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE A WESTERN COYOTE! IT IS U THAT ARE SO DENSE! also as i said wolves are NOT found in the area the film was made!
Whoa whoa, cut the temper-tantrum, bratling! Jeez, caps lock of doom! Before SPAZZYNG111oneeleven and stomping your foot, LOOK at the video and LOOK at the Eastern coyote pictures! Eastern coyotes do look more like wolves, but they are reddish in colour, and their "facial" features are different from the animal here. In fact, many East. coys have inbred with wolves so much that some look a lot more like wolves than coyotes. (see continuation..)
(con'td) ...There ARE indeed pics on the web titled "Eastern Coyote" that look like wolves. Well, these most probably have more wolf in them than coyote. So they are actually closer to wolves than coys, and I would be more correct by calling them wolves. THIS wolf *might* have some coyote in it, but it is in no way a full-blooded coyote, or a "coy-dog". So you lose.
You also claim to know where the video was taken. If so, than do enlighten me as to where it was. I am very curious now.
Well, there isnt a large breeding population of pure-blood wolves there (IF the video was really taken there, and I have no idea how you came to that conclusion), but there have been sightings of some wolves that still renain from older times or have proly wandered there from the Canadian woods. The east coys, tho, are for the most part wolf/coy hybrids that exhibit more wolf than coyote traits (which means that they are actually more wolves than anything else, evenif they aren't pure.) see cont
East coys are bigger than west coys, have larger skulls, more weight, aren't as agressive towards mates/siblings - these are all wolf traits. This shows that east coys have much more wolf in them than coyote. Again, the animal in the vid looks much more like a wolf. Even if it was 50% coy, it would still have obvious coy traits s.a. reddish colour, smaller overall size, bigger ears, etc. So my point is...
...The animal in the video is NOT like that at all. As you see, its physical features are much more like a wolfs it is grey, has a bigger skull, smaller ears, etc etc.. facts speak for themselves! thus it must be at least 75% wolf, if not more! Which already makes it an impure WOLF rather than a coyote. Bottom line: it is a wolf.
If it were more a coyote, than it would LOOK more like a coyote. The animal in the vid does NOT look like a coyote. Therefore, it is mostly wolf. Red wolf, eastern wolf, it is STILL a wolf. Red wolf and Eastern wolf are different from the Timber wolf, but this is a)not a RED wolf and b) STILL a wolf.
I JUST WANNA HUG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
