I've been studying this for days now. Thank you for revealing your playing! Those crisp, precise, "groove confirming" comping rhythms are what I'm striving for.
2:55 - Knowing the note you're going to play after a gliss is RAD! It really built up to that note slide down, and usually a player will be overly proud (or surprised at themselves) for building it up like that and stop after a glissando... but having a plan after that is super kick ass.
While not a true gliss, it's actually a D major triad second inversion played rapidly descending: A-F#-D-A and then ending on an Ab to coincide with the Ab7 being played in the left hand.
That's some REALLY great playing, really profession grade stuff. I've been watching your playing for a while, and studying it. I don't usually comment, but HOLY COW MAN. Thats really passion.
thx Lot2learn for sharing your gift. can't find any real jazz in San Diego. you and the other 3 or 4 guys that post and comment on each others playing are a gift for me! nice camera angle
I keep saying one of your videos after another is your best. I'm going to stop saying it, because it makes me look fickle....but this is your best video yet. Darn it! I did it again! Your playing is a master class. Just Great.
Fantastic tune, and superb playing! Dig the herbie and mccoyisms! I didn't notice that it was nearly 7 mins long, you kept me pinned to the monitor all the way! 5 stars!
it doesn't matter how we analyse your playing,its pure jazz,who are bass and drums? very good too.I shouldn't speak any evil.

Spelling is PHRYGIAN, based on 3d , Locrian is based on 7th of a scale. You are playing very well. also filmed well for finger positions

Is the first part LOCRIAN ?

@valvetrom Actually I think it's in prygian.

@valvetrom no don't think so..... you can play the dorian scale over that Cm11 and/or minor pentatonic over Cm11 and Db∆ (sounds the best for me...)

Awesome playing! Anyone you've transcribed playing this tune other than the guys on the shorter album?

Your piano again spot on L2L. And your unidentified bassist adds some real kick to the mix. Mr. Shorter would be proud.

I'd love to a have personal performance on a Steinway with a prewarmed cognac and a blazing fire. This man is talented, simply stated.
