As someone who (used to) explore there often, I respect what you do and that you have a place to do it - I just hope you're not part of the group that goes around breaking shIt and painting everywhere. Using as a cool skate spot for everyone to enjoy is good
these kids went there to skate, there doing their thing, skatin a sick ass spot. who fkin cares if its "holy" or "sacred" if people really cared, these skaters wouldnt make it in there to "disrespect" it
I am all for the skating since it is better than committing crimes, just not at this site that used to mean something to many people. I used to go every weekend with my family because it was a place where I could be closer to my heritage and learn more about my history. I just think that it is disrespectful to the Chinese heritage to skate on the remnants since they represent the actual thing in China. They may just be statues or buildings to you but they mean something to Chinese people.
i dont see where these kids are doing anything wrong there not causing trouble there just boarding , mabey the place should be cleaned up and used as a skate park!!!! it gives the teens something to do at least there not out commiting crimes there just being kids and with that said mabey all the negative people can help make it a positive enviroment for them from k-town debbiedoo
I would enjoy seeing one of these punks get hurt just to call the cops and be like "Oh yea, we broke into some place to be little turds and billy cracked his skull on the great wall of china please send us some help"
The ignorance of some people is just astounding. People break into a place and film themselves while they're doing it and then post it on the internet. I guess they don't think the owners or the police dept use the internet.
screw you whoever you are... we "disrespectful" kids loved that park... it's not like we wanted a bunch of gangbangers to write "where are your gods now?" That place was the shit, and whether or not we were oh so respectful, it was the coziest most bad ass place to skate in cfl... so go blow a horse...
Glad that I was able to visit before 2003. ..it is not "park." FYI. If this were any other place but Central Florida, something would be done to salvage the broken pieces...Blind eyes must rule where ignorance abides.
ok, since you're such a mass prophet and all, i wont bother argueing with you... all there is for me to say is that the skaters i chill with found a home in that spot... kids with single moms, foreclosed houses, and other often depressing situations... but when we went to splendid, nothing else mattered... people forgot about their douche bag dads and foreclosed houses and did what they do best... skated like champs... FYI
Why not turn the place into a skate park? looks like it might be worth something as that, otherwise what is there to do but tear the place down and replant the groves.
You would think that with all of the money the US is spending on CHineese "stuff"...both countries would step up and save this treasure, It istill could be an amazing teaching -educational experience. .Where are the Universities? Oh so sad!
Only in Central Florida would this travesty and total disrespect be allowed!
ElleSerif - I think that was the original idea when this place first opened. It was supposed to be a cultural exchange type of exhibit. I think the park was initially owned by the PRC. . . . When ever the economy returns the property may be turned into housing. That's what Six Flags was doing before the bottom fell out of the housing market.
idiots? are you serious? do you even skate or are you just some dork who doesn't get it? you must be some of the people who live near splendid china and call the police everytime someone skates. The big complaint about "vandals" at SC is understandable but skateboarding does not equal vandalism. People get all nervous and scared when the cops show up. Seems to me like the real problem over at SC is all the COPS being called and making it appear lots and lots of bad stuff is happening. war on sk8
My bf and I went there the other day just checkin it out and there was some security guy there... we had to run from him and jumped the wall....finally got to the car and when we were driving off there was a cop driving around. I bet he was lookin for us.... =P
please... it's overgrown with weeds, and lets not forget all the damage from the 9 tropical storm/ hurricanes we get each year... yet it still looks amazing... have a splendid evening...
i hate the vandals too... all the shattered glass is a real pain. plus, nothing catches the cops attention like shit being smashed... but most skaters are rather chill...
When do yo usually go? In the evening I think the pigs would be watching. It's easy with the dunkin doughnuts just down the street. How could someone destroy the front of the park like they did? That is crazy. I have not been passed the forbidden city yet so I do not know what else is destroyed.
atleast theyre having fun.

A 100 Million dollar skate park for a bunch of disrespectful kids?
Why not make a magnet school or a Charter School and teach Mandarin?
This just shows what a pathetic state we are living in....
What about Rollins College or UCF or something to preserve the historic value that is irreplacable.
