Nice ford/fisher set up, don't listen to the nay sayer's, lol I've plowed enough to know the one fault with the ez-v, at least the 8.5' version, is hitting the deep stuff in full V tends to roll snow under the truck and get stuck, in a bank like that your talking climbing out through the window NASCAR style , been there done that, and i sucks assso you can shovel half a day
ford also has a problem with the 6.0's and 6.4's sucking snow into the air filter and plugging them. I would be one to agree as i must have replace 50 filters last winter in Minnesota for that exact reason and fyi filters are around $150 a piece. So think of that next time you do something like this lol
@ludwig7710 used to change the air filter almost every week. always 2 weeks if not. dropped a cylinder and lost compression. you think any of these trucks have a decent air filter system for extreme conditions?
@oilfield666 what kind of truck did you have? was it a 6.4 or 6.0. I replaced 3- 6.4 motors in a month because they had holes melted in the pistons. one just had 3 bad pistons, another one melted the pistons and the block from going into DPF regen. the air filtration on those trucks is top notch but the motor designs not so much
@ludwig7710 when i was working in the oil patch i was driving a 05 dodge 2500 cummins, buddies had 6.0l's and duramaxes.... all of us replaced an engine. poor filtration was a majority of the problems... my cummins lost all compression on cyl 1. chrysler wanted 18 grand for them to rebuild. talked them down to 3800 after about a month of negotiating. pain in the ass that was. trucks warranty had just ended. 160,000kms
@ludwig7710 The motor design is excellent. With a bit of tuning, you can literally double hp/trq while INCREASING fuel economy. The 6.4 was a very outstanding engine. It's just emissions bs that really plagued them and gave them reliability issues. DPF delete, EGR delete, then they are super reliable.
yes lets take a diesel truck that has 8 (that i know of) coolers upfront, block off ALL the air flow to those coolers/radiators and hope everything holds out.......have fun replacing prematurly worn engines, transmissions, powersteering pumps (yes, they overheat and have a cooler made for it) and everything else that needs cooling. pure fucking genious man.
@indyindependent1 agreed....ppl dont realize the front ends of a diesel are overloaded as is with a diesel engine sitting ontop. even simple mods like taller tires make a huge impact on the front end...balljoints, tierod ends. even wheel bearings. adding a plow that mounts to this frame that extends it out past the front axle at least 5 ft. let some snow build up on the plow and you exceeding te capacity of the front in no time......gas engine is the only way to plow. nuff said
@oilfield666 ya but because the diesel is in the truck ford adds a heavier front suspension to acomadate the weight of the diesel. and the weight of a plow what you don't relize the gas has lighter front suspension and your overloading it same as with a diesel but its a ford it can take it
@oney135 ford didnt updreade the front axle till 2005, the rating only went up to 6000lbs. its not just the suspension. the engine has coolers that NEED airflow. 6.4l has 8 seperate coolers (including rad and intercooler) the engine fan at low speeds does not do a good enough job for a truck that is working. diesels are nice for pulling, but pushing is a whole other ballgame, enjoy the decreased engine life and bagged front suspension....you will notice the spring sag
there is simply no argument; Diesel truck engines can move more mass while using less fuel & last hundreds of thousands of miles longer than any Gasoline truck engine could ever hope to.
**Gas truck engines MAY eventually be able to do the same work, but at an incredibly lower efficiency.
@yuskjr i know that captain obvious. but to properly run a diesel in those conditions. you're just another idiot who would go out buy a new diesel, slap a fancy blade on it...then go plow snow. cook engine and bitch and the automaker. ive already mentioned what should be done to the truck for those conditions.
@yuskjr *facepalms* still an idiot. reliability wise...stock vs stock a gasser is going to last longer pushing....it doesnt generate near as much heat....the trucks coolers/rad can handle the load. jesus you guys are simple minded. live in canada and try testing your logic
-can start in colder weather without heating coils. that's it.
**& btw, Diesel engines operate at lower temperatures than Gasoline engines; apparently you're the "simple minded" one because you don't even know that Gas engines run hotter than Diesel engines. haha pathetic.
"Not necessarily. Although some small engines do tend to run hotter than than most larger ones, engine temperatures depend more on the number of accessories operating, vehicle weight, driving conditions, ambient temperatures and the design and condition of the cooling system."

LOL, I thought I was seeing things when I saw he was pounding away with the blade in the straight position. It woulda walked right through there in V without beating the crap out of the truck for no reason. Nuts:) Maybe it's dad's truck and he doesn't realise it's a v plow? lol
well he screwed up and you stole them from him because they normally sell for $225 to over $350. I paid $350 for mine because of the extension kit for the levelling kit. Do a search and you'll see, you will never find them for $50 or $75. Buy them all if you can ... you will make some serious profit reselling them.
lol, look it up man:) If you can get a set of Timbrens out the door for under $200 you're doing well. If you have a levelling kit you're gonna pay more or have to fab your own extensions. If you don't add the extensions then the Timbrens will be basically useless because they will sit more than 2 inches off the axle ... useless. Anyhow, others will see what they cost when they look it up or go buy a set. Good luck.
@luvmyctd im not saying your wrong.. im saying my plow trucks are set up and havent had any problems w/ plowing, i sent in 3 trucks and came out w/ a bill of under 300 plus the tip i gave him. how many other times do i need to tell u that

"but to properly run a diesel in those conditions."
-that's a run on sentence; you never finished it.
"you're just another idiot who would go out buy a new diesel, slap a fancy blade on it...then go plow snow."
-no, im not. i dont plow snow because there are plow machines that do that for me in my area & a plow would serve me no purpose at all.
"gas engine is the only way to plow."
-no, Gas truck engines serve no purpose; Diesel truck engines do everything better & more efficiently now-a-days.
