How to get Your Dazzle to display Pal60Hz in Colour!

I want to record my mixes and i was wondering if i could use a capture card (Pinnacle Dazzle Capture Card) to capture the audio going from my decks into the capture card. I want to run a red and white rca cable from my Numark Mixtrack Pro into the capture card and then use the software that came with the capture card to record the mix. any help would be greatly appreaciated. basically im asking if i can record just sound that is coming through the white and red rca cable. please respond

@bbbomberjk I think it would be possible, however the dazzle is designed to record video footage. So you would probably run into problems such as not being able to split the audio channel from the video channel. I'm sure that there are other devices which will allow you to record sound from the red and white rca cable. Just google around to see what sound recording devices you can find.

Great video m8! But I have a problem. I get a green line at the bottom of the screen when I start play the video (not in the preview screen). My XBox settings are 480p, 16:9 or 4:3 (there's no difference, also tried to witch it in the Studio settings) and of course PAL 60. And I switched the composite cables from HDTV to TV.

The only thing I can suggest is to crop the green line off the bottom (depending on how thick the line actually is). For some reason my newest video has a thin green line at the bottom also.

The green line appears to be an analog blanking. It's actually on each TV. The TV cuts these 2 pixels off by himself. But when you record it you can see the green line. You actually have to crop it off. Thank you though ;)

I'm using S-Video setup with my dazzle, and Studio 10. In studio, it shows black/white. When I open AMCap, it comes up with an error:

"Unable to add the video capture source to the filter graph. A device attached to the system is not functioning. [0x8007001F / 10683]

This only happens when I 1st open studio, then AMCap. When I open AMCap 1st, i dont get any errors. But after that I open studio, and get no picture? Any ideas why?

It might have something to do with you using S-Video. Maybe you should try using your AV cables. Also make sure when you are using S-Video that you have selected S-Video as the input type.

However: I've come across a new problem. When I capture the footage, I don't see any problems except a green bar at the top that I can cut off. When I look at the footage afterwards, my footage is a bit distorted, because of that green bar at the top.

Any suggestions how I can fix this?

sorry mate i don't have the faintest idea. have a look around youtube and you might be able to find something. all i can suggest is that you check everything is connected properly (even though you probably have as you don't seem like an idiot).

a few seconds of black and white can be very easily cropped out of your videos. you can crop out the black and white on pinacle studios before you even save the video clip as an MPEG (or whatever you tend to use)

This has totally F***ed up my laptop.

At first it worked okay but now something is causing the screen to turn black when i record... As soon as i press capture the preview turns black so i can't se what i am recording. I don't know why.

It has also caused a problem that makes it impossible for me to run any media programs like pinnacle, Real, ANYTHING with sound if i have firefox opened and have played a youtube vid as this one. Its really a problem. It makes my laptop useless.

If you actually read the earlier comments, I tell people to do the AMCAP settings after they have clicked record on Pinnacle. (This means a couple of seconds of your recorded video will be black, but you can easily cut this out)

And as for your fucked up laptop, a youtube video can't do anything. It's your own fault if you downloaded a dodgy version of AMCap.

if you read the earlier comments, I say that you need to do the AMCAP settings after you click record on Pinacle Studio. This means you will end up having a few minor seconds of black and white in your recorded video at the VERY beginning, which you will be able to crop out.

instead of doing the settings before you click record, do the settings after you record. This will just mean you will have a couple of seconds in black and white that you will be able to cut out.

As for quality wise, if you want to get good quality on youtube you will need to render the video in a high quality program such as sony vegas pro 8.0. For information on getting sony vegas pro 8.0 for free just look around on youtube. And then just look around for the perfect rendering settings.

Whenever you click capture and it returns to black and white, all you have to do is go through the AMCAP settings again WHILST Recording. This means (if done quickly) you will only have 1-2 seconds of black and white of your recorded footage and the rest will be in colour.

An easy way to stop doing the AMCAP settings twice, is to always click record on pinacle first and then change the AMCAP Settings.

Normally when people record gameplay, they use the tv to play on, instead of having to use the preview screen. (I do this)

To do this, you need: 2 RCA AV Cables A.K.A Composite Cables(Double ended), 3 Y-Audio Phono Adapters A.K.A "Splitters" (Female to Female).

I found that DScaler is slightly better. It's the same sort of program and its settings are reset too - but the difference is that you don't have to go through loads of menus to set SECAM-B again, it's just in a drop-down menu under the "DShow" menu, then select "Video Standard".

Basically, its a fair bit quicker to change colour.

Alternatively, I've decided I'm going to wait for Hauppauge's HD external capture card... which is out in the USA but not Europe, but it should be soon :)

when using pinnacle studio, as soon as you click record it will reset the AM Capture settings. To get your videos in colour while recording all you have to do is do the video settings on AM Capture again (Change it from NTSC to Secam_B or Secam_D) So basically, you only have to do the AM Capture settings after you've click record, seeing as you wont want to do it twice every time you record. (Also, depending on how quick you are at changing the settings, u may have 1-2 secs in b+w at the start.

normally AM Capture comes with Pinacle studio. But if you cannot find AM Capture in the place I show in the video, try downloading it. You may have to use a Torrent program/site to get it, or there may be a free version somewhere on the net.

I used an old Dazzle DVC 90. This method works with ANY dazzle.
