I'm a guitarist from France,I really appreciated the Hide's work I listened a lot of x japan records since the early 90's the one thing I was focus on was the hide solos because I didn't understand the lyrics,but I think Slash is deeper in his guitar playing and he's versatile(blues,hard rock,also classic),Hide game looks more experimental and his solos was just too similar to the rythm,the japan rock is very special so you cannot compare slash to hide

their styles are vastly different. also when you say better what exactly do you mean? i could say that guitarist A is "better" than B because he has a better tone. or i could say that he is better because A can tap while B cant.
the issue of who is better is really largely subjective in accordance to personal preferences. i wont dismiss the fact that slash is good but personally i prefer hide : )
So true, personal preference is everything to everyone. for me personally hideto had far more originality. I love slash as a guitarist, but he's was bought and sold by the highest bidder so many times that he lost his way on the road to complete God as a performer , Now he's a man of money and video contract with little priority left to put out for the underground public. Most of you don't know anything about guitar. I didn't know Hide before watching this video, he is a very good guitar player, but Slash is REALLY much better, even if I don't like him very much.
You can't say the contrary if you don't have an idea of what a guitar player is. It's not only a question of clothing and attitude, Slash has got an enormous technique, his solos are hard to learn cause of the way he plays 'em, for example...
Slash typically employs pull offs, hammer ons, bends...some fast picking and thats about it. His solos are very melodic and soulful but they aren't by any means hard to learn or play. : /
@Valcarion I doubt you learned Sweet Child O' Mine that fast and I doubt you play it good considering how much time you dedicated to it. Learning Slash's notes is easy because his style is medium-paces blue solos (though sometimes he goes faster for certain songs like Paradise City or like in his new album), but his tempo is different from what you'd expect.
Try learning the solo in 'Double Talkin' Jive' in 5 minutes, then play it along the original. You'll be off by a lot trust me.
@MrAnooxy I learned it in five, mastered it within an hour. It's simple. Yes, Slash is beast, and does a lot of shit that is extremely difficult. Is he the most amazing guitar player in the world? No way. I've been playing for 14 years, and can pretty much handle everything Slash plays. Yeah, he plays with more soul. He's got decades on me. Still, he ain't that great. And I was raised on blues, and have no qualms with his style, trust me.
@Valcarion To me he is the most amazing. I've been listening to shredders all my life, learned their stuff (the slowest they can get lol), but at the end of the day none of their songs makes me explode with joy while playing them. Slash's stuff does.
@MrAnooxy For me, he's a good player, but not the most fun to play. I enjoy improvising and playing more Hendrix inspired riffs, personally. I do enjoy Slash though, as previously stated.

I think hide-sama was one of the most influential rockers of his time.
Visually he was the most inspiring, his lyrics were simply mind blowing,
I am so inspired in my own music just to have had such a great mentor of music in my time.
