The bulldog's name is Cherokee and White Fang loses because of the bulldogs's skin and body size which covers up the neck unable to bite the bulldog's neck. Poor White Fang i read the whole book already.

In those times, the name "Bulldog" was one name used for what we call a Pit Bull today. These were Bull and Terrier dogs. The little pug nose bulldog was Never used to fight! The movie depicted the right "bulldog" in the fight scene. Huskies & wolves are powerful but not game fighters.

White Fang was Hybrid. Wolves have no interest in fighting unless it's for their survival. Game Bred Pit Bulls (the real bona-fide BULLDOG) are genetically bred to fight to the finish. Sure, you wouldn't ask a 35 lbs. bulldog to overcome a canine four times it's size (although it's been done). It should tell you how awesome a Pit Bull is for these dumb comparisons to keep coming up! The Pit Bull is pound for pound the greatest and gamest athlete of the canine family. ;-)

It´s obious it´s japanese, not only for the lenguage, but it´s animé, it´s looks a lot like Candy Candy.

BUll Dog and Pit Bull were made to confront bulls (the name say it ¬¬)the first bull dogs weren´t like we are used see them now, at that time were a bit different. But that´s a bulldog.

About the size if the dog, well the bulldog from "Tom and Jerry" hasn´t the size of a real bulldog neither. At the end both are cartoons.. Japenese or USA´s.. but cartoon at the end ¬¬.

During this time period, bulldog and pit bull were often used interchangeably. Also, in Call of the Wild, Buck is a cross between a Scotch Shepherd and St. Bernard. Scotch Shepherd is the same thing as collie. Bulldogs were not used as dog fighters at this time. So it was meant to be a bull and terrier (which were). Bull and terriers became Pit Bulls and Stafforshire Bull terriers later on. It gets confusing though, because the old type bulldog is somewhat similar to a pit bull.
