I read about the true story on which this was based and there were TWO PEOPLE who invented and created the prosthetic!

OHHH I get it. They invented a character called Dr. McCarthy and made him an amalgam of the two REAL life characters.

I live in clearwater and my friend was in this movie! He's in the beginning scene at the long center where there's a swim meet and the part after that at the backyard barabaque, he's playing in the pool with some other guys, and jumps on a secondary characters back while playing water football! :D

@lifemetall It's a try story about a dolphin that lost its tail. THe dolphin in the movie is the actual dolphin that lost its tail, so no, they didn't cut it off, it was already gone. I saw this with my nieces a couple weeks ago, its not bad, they seemed to enjoy it.

It is extremely loosely based upon a true story, but in REAL life, two extra smart white men called Kevin Carroll and Dan Strzempka invented the prosthetic tail for the dolphin.

Actually, there were only a couple of minor changes, such as what you stated, the 2 doctors, the Marine Hospital did not face financial pressures, they didn't amputate her tail (it naturally fell off due to loss of blood), it took longer to make the tails then it states in the movie, and that Winter was rescued on the other side of the state with no kids there. Those are only 5 reasons. Wiki it! They'll tell the differences.

I no that dolphin :) and thats not evan the real story which is making me mad. she didn't wash up on the beach, she was caught in a net out in the ocean by some fishermen. and i don't know what that little girl/boy has to do with anything.... plus there was no worry about Winter being able to survive because she was swimming, the aquarium was just a better environment for a dolphin with such damage.
